Lucia in London: Mapp and Lucia, Book 3 E. F. Benson
‘Mrs. Lucas was, as all the world knew, a most accomplished musician and Shakespearean scholar, and had made Riseholme a centre of culture and art. But nobody would suspect the blue stocking in the brilliant, beautiful and witty hostess whose presence would lend an added gaiety to the London season.’

Part of a six-instalment comic book series, Mapp and Lucia, which recounts the eccentric tales of various women in the 1920s and their fight for social status, Lucia in London revives the hilarious character of Emmeline Lucas. It is the third book in Benson’s hugely successful series.

Overbearing Emmeline ‘Lucia’ Lucas is back yet again, leaving the small town of Riseholme to embrace the new and exciting social offerings of London. Having acquired a second home in the city with her husband, Peppino, Lucia immediately evaluates her avenues to climb the ranks to the highest social circles. All are not fooled by her shameless gambits, however, and we are introduced to a cast of astonished followers, including Stephen Merriall, who may not be as trustworthy as he appears. Pacey and deliciously witty, Lucia in London is a beloved continuation of one of the most iconic female characters of the twentieth century. This audiobook edition is expertly brought to life by Lucy Scott.
