This book lived on my stack for four years! I absolutely cherish the time reading it and I'm glad that I finally finished it. The last third of the book is an amazing end to an overall solidly great work! This book lived on my stack for four years! Wonderfully written book on the lives of St. Francis, St. Augustine, St. Paul and Mother Teresa wherein the author lays out a program of mediation to bring one's own life into the creative self-giving person that can change the reader's life and those the reader comes in contact with. Book is valuable to those of any religion or no religion whether atheist or agnostic as what the author lays out is in line with the very nature of human beings at their deepest level and need physically and emotio Wonderfully written book on the lives of St. Francis, St. Augustine, St. Paul and Mother Teresa wherein the author lays out a program of mediation to bring one's own life into the creative self-giving person that can change the reader's life and those the reader comes in contact with. A book on how to become the person you want to be and you wish everyone was.

These are nice reflections on each of the people it covers--like short biographies with spiritual reflection. Could be useful for some, but not for me.

(This is the only book by Eknath Easwaran available at the library; I didn't really know what to expect, as this wasn't one of his titles I had hoped to read. I've found it interesting so far nonetheless and plan to take notes; I just hope I can lay my hands on Easwaran's other titles as well.) April 24th, 2012: Finally finished reading this; for me, the Saint Augustine chapter was a bit tedious (not sure why really). I do plan on seeking out more of E.E.'s works though.
