I did enjoy this book and to be honest I probarbly would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the female lead Annie, now alot of people would think that it was maybe because she kept taking him back but really what drove me nuts was she seemed to find any reason possible to walk away and that was what she did time and time again no rational adult conversations just alot of sreaming and her running away. Now I know that this is part of what made it such a rollercoaster of emotions to read but c I did enjoy this book and to be honest I probarbly would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the female lead Annie, now alot of people would think that it was maybe because she kept taking him back but really what drove me nuts was she seemed to find any reason possible to walk away and that was what she did time and time again no rational adult conversations just alot of sreaming and her running away. Now I know that this is part of what made it such a rollercoaster of emotions to read but come on she rarely gave Michael a chance to explain anything before she ran for the door. I really did feel for Michael yes he did have a major fall from grace but she took him back and made him grovel for any sort of feelings from her at all, but after that everything that happened she took as an excuse to leave and just refused to hear him out. That being said it was a good read although if the author called his penis "organ" one more time I think I would have screamed surely there has got to be more discriptive names for it.

Extremely, brutally, heart-wrenchingly intense. It is the story of Michael Wade, lead guitarist for the rock band Thrust and Annie Logan, the woman he loves. Their feelings for each other are genuine but their relationship is tempestuous, volatile and nothing short of overwhelming. How can it be otherwise considering the lifestyles they lead? But Annie wants what surely seems to be the impossible...the devotion, the honesty AND the fidelity of a man who has spent the last 20 years of his life proving that sex, drugs & rock n roll is much more than just a cliche. I really loved Michael. He knew he had found his soul mate in Annie and he honestly tried to be as perfect as she wanted him to be. Being a musician herself, Annie was well aware of the temptations Michael was confronted with on a daily basis yet she cut him no slack. Most of the time I admired her for the short leash she was able to keep Michael on, but other times she irritated me when she was purposely trying to hurt him. Yes, he cheated early in their marriage. He was on the road on tour...tired, alone and missing his wife...when a persistent band groupie slut wouldn't leave him alone. He kept trying to get rid of her but she was giving him a massage and he basically let his defenses down and she gave him a blow job. It was over in two minutes but the guilt was already tearing him up when - unannounced - Annie arrived. Of all the cheating books I've read, this is the one heroine that didn't roll over and play dead. She bit, kicked, punched, and spewed venom at him...for months. When he tried to touch her, she would actually vomit (although being pregnant certainly helped that bit of drama along). Michael groveled. And groveled. And groveled some more. It was obvious that when she finally did forgive him, she wasn't being sincere because when a similar situation presented itself, Michael actually fought the girl off and got scratched for it. Annie saw the scratches; and without giving him a chance to explain, she walked out of his life & divorced him. Michael did everything he could to make Annie happy...went to rehab, stopped touring, even let her divorce him without a fight. If nothing else, they had 2 baby girls together and he desperately wanted to be a part of their lives. But Annie's bitterness ran deep, and for claiming to love Michael so much, she did everything in her power to beat him down. Purposefully making out with a guy in front of Michael when he was there to see the girls was an immature stunt for a 34-yr-old woman to pull. Yes, he was flawed...he had cheated, but he paid for that indiscretion in spades...he lost the only 3 people he truly loved. Although the author wrote Michael & Annie a happy ending, I'm not so sure that would've been the outcome in reality. But, thankfully, this isn't reality. And the rock legend, his loving wife and 2 beautiful daughters, drove their Land Rover to their beachfront home on Martha's Vineyard and lived happily ever after. *sigh* 4 1/2 stars (1/2 off for bad behavior) Michael Wade & Thrush...in the beginning

Christ a-bloody-live, I feel like I've been through the wringer a hundred times over!!! That was a marathon! How do I even begin to rate or review a book like Sheet Music? I'm going backwards and forwards between 4 and 5 stars. I absolutely loved it! And so fast paced I almost got motion sickness at times! But I did LOVE it and couldn't put it down! The only two things that annoyed me were that Michael and Annie seemed to spend more time apart and at times I wanted to stab Annie in the eyes with a fork for being so selfish/dramatic/annoying! And Michael could have done with a swift kick in the balls for being such a wet fish! So yeh, as much as I loved it and was totally taken in, I think it was a bit heavy on the old emotional whiplash and could do with being split into at least two shorter books! Now that I've finished, I need a glass of wine and to find me something light hearted to read! Phew! Plot - Well, lets see... you've got a rock God, a rock chick, love, lust, a car crash, a shooting, infidelity, unplanned pregnancies, a marriage, a divorce, drug addiction, alcoholism, death, attempted rape... to name a handful of the subjects Sheet Music covers! Like I said, emotional turmoil, rapid paced and long... but completely gripping Characters - So completely flawed in every way, both of them. But brilliantly developed and you can't help but root for them. Steaminess - There were some steamy scenes and the chemistry is intense, but there's so much to this book that the sex scenes almost pale into the background. Also, the use of the word 'organ' instead of cock just doesn't cut it for me I'm afraid. Angst - By the bucket load! If you can't handle angst DO NOT read this book! Negatives - As I mentioned, it was long. The characters spent more time apart than together and sometimes they seriously needed their heads banging together! First Kiss - 5% First Sex Scene - 10% Ending - All I'm saying is that it was worth all the ag. Favourite Quotes - “If there is chemistry, and the mind and body are working as one, it's nirvana. It's like a well-written symphony or, better yet, perfect... sheet music." "Sheet music?" "Yeah, music between the sheets.” “I'm not sure I can explain it. I have all this raw emotion inside for you and sometimes I'm not sure what to do with it. I'm afraid if I let it out it will be too overwhelming for you and for me.” “Life has few guarantees, Annie. But one thing I know for certain, I will never stop loving you as long as I can still draw breathe into my lungs.” “Hey, dick head," he yelled with hands on his hips. "Don't even think of coming back here and telling me you shook anything more than her hand!”

An all consuming roller-coaster ride!!! I find this book hard to review. On one hand, it was a long, juicy book where so much happened, it could have been a 3 book series. I wanted to throw my phone (reading on the kindle app) a few times. I found myself wondering if there would be, or should be, a HEA for the couple. I found Annie to be a bit of a shrew who over reacted to everything and never gave Michael a chance--and he made it worse by not fighting hard enough. I think that there was a little too much focus on the rough patches the couple went through, and not enough of the good times to make you really want to root for them. That being said, the fact that I couldn't put it down and was so engrossed in the book for 2 days I did nothing but read makes it a worthwhile read in my eyes!! It was a complete roller coaster--just when you think it's getting great, the bottom drops again. I do recommend, but expect a ride! I look forward to reading another by the author. *****one really bad thing, that should make me take away another star is the author's extensive misuse of the word "smelt" which is melting metal from ore....she should use the word smelled. This didn't happen just once but ELEVEN TIMES!!!!!!!*********

I am not sure if I'm gonna read any book from this author any time soon

I dont know why he puts up with her crap. She's the first girl he's ever loved but he should of ditched her. She's always mad at something and running away from problems that aren't really problems. She just always assumes the worst when it comes with him. Every though he has done everything to make her happy. For example. She gets into an accident and he sits by her bed the whole time she is in a coma. He also makes it so she can go to his home and heal instead of rehab for her ankle. He changes things in his house for her. Also pays for all of the doctors for her. How does she repay it?? When he goes on tour she says shes going to move out. Then she talks to his ex wife and listens to her stories instead of just asking him. Even though his ex wife doesnt even let michael see his kid. Now I hated that Michael cheated. It made me very sad. He doesn't have sex with her. But she does give him a blow job when he's very vunerable from being tired, sad, and lonely. Although he still should have kicked her out before it got to that. Those little groupie whores are just very persistent. He nevers lies to her but when a girl tries to have sex with him he isnt having any of it and she scratches him and Annie sees it and she leaves him. Even when he tries to explain what happened. He's always been honest with her but she just wont listen to him. Personally I just could not stand Annie and it made reading it very hard. I loved Michael but I definatly would not re read this book.

As if the author wrote it over a long period of time and forgot story components or left things rather disconnected. Also, there was sex in the book, but more clinical rather than sensual. The author, while Mike and Annie are engaged sexually, referring to Mike's penis as his organ. Never anything else. Almost as if she has issues referring to the male anatomy. Why did I stop reading it? I actually thought I'd read to the end - it just kept pulling me. I think I really liked Mike and could tolerate Annie enough to push through, but then... Annie turned into a raving B**tch - I mean like TOTAL. And, Mike kept going back for more. Plus, the poor guy didn't really do anything wrong. I just couldn't take it anymore so ... oh, well. You may like it. I read quite a bit, so story disconnects really get to me. It does have quite a bit of Rock -n- Roll, so you may like it. It also is pretty reasonably priced, so that is always a plus. I had issues, mentioned above, but you may not. Somewhat Happy Reading!!

And to prepare, their band get's Thrust guitarist Michael Wade to mentor them. From the moment Annie and Michael first laid eyes on one another, there was an inexplicable attraction. Unfortunately, they both know it's a bad idea to be anything other than professional, but you can't fight intense lust and passion and so begins the "Epic Rollercoaster Ride of Love" between Annie and Michael. Marriage, cheating, betrayals, death, drugs and alcohol. This story has it all. I love Ann Lister books and I remember the first time I read Sheet Music back in 2012. I recall the wild ride of emotions this book evoked as I read about Annie's rise to fame and her relationship with Michael. Their marriage and the troubles they went through. Reading the story again now, however, I can't help but feel a little differently about the characters. I have to honestly say I am not a fan of Annie. I felt as if her character was not easy to connect with and the way she treated Micheal irritated me to no end. They had a very volatile relationship but underneath it, it was quite apparent that Michael loved her deeply. However, at times I felt that while Annie obviously loved him, too, she seemed to have a need for punishing him. Her actions screamed of a lifetime of resentment and it makes it hard to root for the couple when it seems they may be better off apart. I think Ann Lister did a wonderful job with her writing and crafting such a book. However, I am pretty sure I'm more of a fan of her MM. 4 Stars! *Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by the author/publisher for my reading pleasure in hopes of an unbiased opinion, a review was not a requirement.*

Overall this was a really good book. From above you can see that there is cheating in this book, so if that bothers you then don't pick this one up. Besides that though this was a page turner that I couldn't put down. Even though I wanted to stab Michael in the heart I'm still glad him, Annie, and their little girls got a HEA. Annie secretly enters her band in the Battle of the bands and her band gets selected as one of the semi finalist to appear live along the legendary band Trust. Each of the 5 members of Thrust have chosen to sponser on the the semi finalist. White Rush’s sponser is Michael Wade , Annies ‘s favourite from the band. So when they finally meet she is star struck, and he is mezmerized. The connection becomes clear straight away, but there is one thing that is stopping them from moving on with that connection, the fact that Michael signed a contract stating he would have not intimate contact with the band he was working with, if this happens the band he is working with would get disqualified. But then one night of passion changes it all, as they no that it was a one time thing. Well this is the beginning of a rollercoaster ride of a realationship. There is are lot of tears a lot of happiness a lot of heartbreak and a lot of tragedy.. This relationship is one that is so meant to be but so hard to keep. In the end its like Michael said “Nothing good is easy” and this proves it. I loved how the author really pulled you in with both characters, she made you feel the heartbreak the tragedy and the happiness and the anger that they go through. She also keeps you hanging on wanting more and wanting to see what happens next..

Ugh hello, sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll...always going to be drama with that mix. But the amount of shit in this book, surprised me. It was super long and drawn out. I hated the heroine. She annoyed the piss out of me. She constantly ran from the problems. Literally. She'd pack up without allowing time for an explanation from the hero, and be out the door. She constantly gave the hero mixed signals, which he didn't seem to mind, but I sure as hell did. I didn't know whether she wanted him or not,...ridiculous. Her little lapse into the pain killers was totally unbelievable, seeing as how she never drank or did drugs before the accident, then a month later she's addicted, get real. The hero, Michael, I liked. To me he stayed constant throughout the book. He was sexy, and lovable. Except for when he had his lapse in judement with Jill the groupie. His relapse into alcohol after a decade or so clean was totally believable. (view spoiler)[He had suffered the loss of a friend/bandmate/brother, Brian. (hide spoiler)] (Big drama there) He also got shot in the shoulder in the process and had limited mobility with that arm. He is a guitar god and his fingers sometimes go numb because of the gunshot wound, he's angry and devastated from his loss and goes back to drinking. That I could so see happening. Overall, this book was good. I finished it, so that means something to me. But it could have done with some unnecessary things being added and a little more likeable heroine. Plus I love me some rock stars!

Sheet Music (love the name), is an angsty rock star romance. It is long, so be prepared when you start. Michael is a 38 year old career rock star who I feel in love with from the start. Does he screw up a few times, sure. But he was so much more than what Annie gave him credit most of the time. His heart was huge and he did so much for her. Annie really puts him through the wringer on more than one occasion and sometimes I just wanted to shake her. Annie...I started out liking her but she couldn't get out of her own way most of the time. Her insecurities were seemingly limitless. She had some valid reasons for her distrustful nature but she projected so much of that onto other people, mostly Michael, that it really was unfair. As I have stated in other reviews, I don't have to like all the characters to like the book. As the old saying goes "the girls always love the boys in the band." The temptation is always there and it has to be the persons choice to not take the apple. You have to trust them to make that choice. There were secondary characters that I wished Lister had expanded. There were a few of the situations outside of the main story that I thought deserved more page time, especially with the length of the book. There is an HEA, but I was hoping for something a little more at the end. It was sweet but I wanted powerful. Overall an enjoyable read. I was gifted a copy for an honest review. I was all set to enjoy this book, being a rock musician (amateur) and having enjoyed Olivia Cunning's Sinner's on Tour books. And while the writing here is a little more sophisticated, the story and emotional punch is not as strong as it could be. Annie and Michael are two troubled souls with pain in their past, who find each other and fall quickly and deeply in love. They then try hard to destroy it. Both characters have moments of TSTL, alternately needy and angry. The writing is solid, but a b I was all set to enjoy this book, being a rock musician (amateur) and having enjoyed Olivia Cunning's Sinner's on Tour books. The writing is solid, but a bit flat for me. Some of the emotional scenes were strong, but others were not. And how did the author ignore the double emotional trauma when Annie is badly hurt in a car crash? I wish some of the secondary characters were developed a bit more (feasible at 500 pages, this is not a novella), and twice someone is introduced late in the story who could have been presented sooner, thus tying the entire story together more strongly. FYI - the sex is soft-core, with the author avoiding more graphic terms for body parts and functions. This is not a negative, as the sexual tension is tangible in several scenes.

Whew ok. First off this is a long book, so you are going to want to get comfortable. Also, have a stress ball, wine, and gum or chocolate on hand when reading. Sheet Music is a very complex and involved story, spanning several years. It's not a wham bam, little romance, little sex, happily ever after, the end book. It's gritty and not pleasant at times. The female lead is going to piss you off and you are going to want to shake her and/or punch her in the face more than once. But... it's REAL. T Whew ok. BUT... between the two of them, again it's real and you can relate. Their relationship is not really healthy, but it's an excellent representation of many very real relationships out there and everyone has at least one like this. I don't want to spoil the book for readers. I enjoyed the book, though it's not a happy, butterflies and dreams, unicorns and rainbows, A+B=C book. I give it 4.25 stars because I've been there in some form or another and I could not stop reading this book. I would recommend it for those who like angst and REAL life books instead of pretty fairy tales wrapped in a bow. 4.25 Stars from me!

Way too length. By the last 80% of the book I was really struggling to finish the book - but I managed. A predictable ending and such. Maybe I was just expecting a lot from this book, but I felt that the characters are fairly static. Michael doesn't change much throughout the book, and he makes the same "mistake" multiple times... It got a bit boring after a while, and Annie's character can be a bit over reactive and she's also naive. The characters had an insta-love thing, and I usually like ban Way too length. I loved this book. It was intense and romantic. The author took a lot of risk with her characters. I mean, she wasn't afraid to put them through the worst, to show both their good and bad sides. It was deep and emotional and sexy. Intoxicatingly amazing. My only questions and complaints come from the secondary characters like the members of White Rush and Michael's son John. Sometimes it felt like they were left out too much. Fantastic read. Perfect sheet music. :)

Roller coaster city. I don't even believe it could have a good ending, still don't. At one point I was all "awwww" he's so sweet, then I was all "WTF what a butthole!" If you can get past the serious need for editing, the story itself is great. Emotional, deep, reflective.

What a story this one is! Be prepared for the roller coaster emotions! Holy smokes. Sometimes you don't know if you're up or down but you have your fingers crossed and are hoping with everything you have that Annie and Michael are going to figure things out and get their shit together! Sometimes Annie is a bit naive I think. But I can't say I blame her for what parameters she sets with Michael from the very beginning. I would have set very similar. And Michael. Smh. Michael. There were quite a few times I was screaming at the book saying, DON'T do it! You're gonna get caught and ruin everything. And each time he did! I can't blame Annie for filing for divorce but I was really disappointed Michael didn't even blink. He just signed the papers. No fight for her. No begging. Nothing. He just gave up. That was the scene that I couldn't believe! I expected so much more from him! I didn't get it though. I can't give anything away but I felt much better about things at the end and I can't wait to begin the next book. Definitely recommend! Won't disappoint!

I read some other books from Ann Lister, so I expected a sensual love story. But here I read about two people who wrecked each other instead of helping each other. I get the main purpose about the story line was to show a whole rollercoaster of emotion. My biggest disapointment was Annie. Such an egocentric charakter. Yes Michael made some mistakes, but she didnt trust him from beginn with, and would always look for the slightest reason to feed her insecureties. When she had addiction to fight, he did everything to save her, and when it was the other way around, she left him . I really hoped in the end of the book, he would let her go for good, and find someone better.

Love the Rockstars! I really loved the male character, Michael. This would have been a 5 star read but I felt the female lead, Annie, was way overdone. I found myself wanting the story to be over but I loved Michael and kept hoping for the best for him. Annie was hurt badly all her life by the males in her life and Michael, a famous rockstar, hurt her too. This was never his intention. Michaels great but Annie is such a bitch. So many times I wanted to stop reading because she was so weak and it pissed me off. But I finished it and have mixed feelings. I am happy because I am a sucker for happy endings but sad because I feel Michael deserved better. It also felt like so much was crammed in the book, maybe too dramatic. Love scenes were not passionate enough for my taste (kind of rushed or glossed over) plus I did not like how the male/female anatomy was referred to in the book Michaels great but Annie is such a bitch. Characters are one dimensional writing is weak. Very disconnected and stiltedabout 15% inland having triuble staying interested due to weak writing. I pereservered furca bit then skipped lots then gave up. The writing did improve a bit but the whole thing was just depressing. None of it had joy in it. Well not the parts I read.

NOT YOUR TYPICAL LOVE STORY I really love stories with the famous rock star theme. So when I managed to borrow a copy of this book from a friend I was really excited to to start reading. This is quite a long story, and begins when Annie Logan manages to get her band "White Rush" accepted into the battle of the bands contest. Annie had sent a demo tape without telling the other members of the group. Thinking that this would come to nothing. Annie is sure they are all are going to be as pleased and excited as her, well except for Gary her ex-husband. There were still underlying tensions between them. But they usually managed to get past this for the sake of the others in the group. What was most exciting about this opportunity is that the members of the famous group "Thrust" we're going to individually tutor each of the unknown groups, and Michael Wade the most famous member of Thrust was going to mentor her group. As Annie predicted all of the others except Gary were thrilled. When Michael Wade first meets them all, Annie can hardly take her eyes off of him, let alone breathe, and to her amazement Michael seems to feel the same way. Every time he glances her way she feels as though she's melting. But the rules of this contest forbid any personal involvement between group members and their mentor. But will those rules be enough to keep Annie and Michael apart. This is not your typical love story, there is passion and love between the two leads. But there is also anger treachery and much sadness. Reading about Annie and Michael's relationship through the good times and bad, let's make that very bad. Is a very emotional experience. Michael has been in rehab more than once, has been making music for many years, his reputation precedes him. But when he meets Annie he feels as though he has found home. I did feel at times that their love was more of an obsession. But it certainly didn't make Michael behave, and maybe he should have practised saying the word NO more often. Annie has her internal issues, that at times made her come accross a bit of a whiner. This has a gritty realistic feel to it, as the reader follows Michael and Annie's relationship, and journey in the music business. With all the benefits that it can bring, plus all the temptations that came along at the same time. Not all of them good. This is a well written novel, I did enjoy it very much although I can see how this will not be to everybody's taste. Some might find a little depressing. But it was certainly made addictive reading for me a real page turner.
