Following on from the pre-war saloons MG designed the Y-Type, a comfortable four-seater, to run concurrently with the TC from 1947. A year later the tourer was announced and rather unsportingly likened to a (bath tub÷. However, they kept the MG family car going until the modern, Palmer-designed Z-Type was introduced in 1954.
