3.5 stars What the hell is that ending? I was NOT prepared for that.

I got an email about this and decided to give it a shot. I actually was enjoying it. I wish the world was explained a little better in the beginning. However, I hated that the ending ruined the entire book. It came out of nowhere and just didn’t fit wasn’t a fan.

Reviewed at Paranormal-y Romantic If I had just one word for this story it would be simply — wow. As it is I’ll be very careful in what I say because it is easily spoiled by too much information before someone first picks it up to begin reading. The Marked is an intricate look at what might happen in humanity’s future should we not take care of the planet right now. Before you click away, this story is not preachy or political in any shape or form… but it does have the background of what happens when populations get out of control and climate changes are ignored for decades. There are color levels to the caste system in this world Grey is the lowest functioning human designated to mundane, work-based life in the Caves. Unless the females become Marked, it is then when a few lives change, for the better or for the worse is unique to each person – but they do have one purpose now, to breed. There is so much that I loved about The Marked. While entertaining, it also made me think about knowledge, and how one would react to a strange world without the basic knowledge that we grow up with as, well, naturally learning about our world. To see it through the Heroine’s eyes is rather shocking as it is clearly made apparent that what I think of natural she sees as new, possibly frightening, or delightful. There is an innocence, a naiveness that hovers over the Heroine even when she should have begun to learn things, like truth from a lie. I’ll admit that I gave her the benefit of the doubt on every occurrence because I could not imagine “not knowing” something so basic to the point of fear of making the wrong choice. At this point, I’m going to say you, the reader needs to discover this world first-hand, experience the innocence, the terror, the emotions… and one twist that I never in a lifetime would have seen coming. I loved every moment spent in this world. It is a standalone title, but I can see where it could branch off into other stories yet I’m not certain if they’d have that same shock moment with the information given in the Epilogue. Pick this one up, don’t peek at the final page, and lose yourself in the future, with danger, love, betrayal, innocence… and that ending. Just wow. I own a Kindle edition of this title.

Weirdly Intriguing I received the first 3 chapters in a newsletter from Eve Langlais. I was hooked. The premise seem scary in light of today's happenings, but I wanted to know how it ended. This story of power and who wields it and the consequences of greed and selfishness has me loving the story, looking for more along this line, and keeping more tuned in to what is happening around the world. You are never sure what you are going to get with a dystopian story, what twist are they going to give you? That is part of the appeal, and this one definitely delivered on it! Each time something new is unveiled, a new and different perspective and understanding is presented. When it came to the end of the story, the final turn just seemed natural, considering all that had come before, and how well we got to know our couple. I loved this story and how the relationship unfolded <3

Well damn Wife was that ending! And I can't say anything or I'll ruin the book. Eve you mind is twisted girl. But I love it. You used to ask half way through what I thought and where I thought it was going. Well I thought I did till that epilog. This was a wonderfully weird but great book I so hope you write more. And turn it into a series. Well damn Wife was that ending! And I can't say anything or I'll ruin the book. Eve you mind is twisted girl. But I love it. Different, yet enjoyable This was definitely a different storyline, and I highly enjoyed it. I liked the MCs, but I couldn't quite give 5 stars. The story was brief and perhaps would have been bettered by expanding, but I am really pleased with how much Eve was able to squeeze out of the pages Different, yet enjoyable This was definitely a different storyline, and I highly enjoyed it. Fantastic reading! A fascinating look into a dystopian world. Is this what we have to look forward to? Sebastian is so attractive- his love for Jasinda is so very appealing. Jasinda is an amazing woman! Taken from an extremely restricted life, gaining knowledge, falling in love, she shows unusual strength of character. I love her! The ending left me gasping…that’s all I’ll say! Fantastic reading!

Dystopian science fiction with a pretty cool world concept. Except I hate the main turning point and what happened between the MC's. Ruined any feels that I had for the couple.
