Isabella doesn't does a wrong spell that lands her in a wheel chair. Jodi and Willa try to keep an eye on her. Jodi is enjoying her relationship with Drake as it grows serious. Person from the past is coming back into their lives, they know it won't end well. There is serious danger all around, someone might not make it out it.
There are spoilers through book, I would not ruin for anyone. The growth of Jodi and Drake is wonderful, love the banter the characters have. Willa is growing past the person she was with her husband and even Patty, she is learning to depend on herself. Isabella really never changes much, she just finds trouble, but you can't help but laugh and enjoy this character. There are even the side characters that blend so well into the story, that you remember them well. This is well written story that will capture your attention for everything that happens it it. You will be blown away by what transpires and you will want the next book really quickly.

yin and yan. ish and ish-ah. parts of the whole, like life and death.
An autumn festival that celebrates recharging and renewal faces dark challenges from family of Sally Gilling.
A necromancer should never be underestimated, though Sally has great skill at encouraging people to bend to her will, and to see her as no threat
Has Sally reformed? Is her family as dangerous, or worse?
The safety of the town is again in jeopardy
What price to save it?

I was, of course, upset with the Drake situation. I know he will be back. This plot twist was not entertaining or enjoyable. I have really enjoyed this series so far, but this book brought all the bits together that I don't enjoy. The grandmother is an annoying pain. Not in a fun to read, curmudgeonly way. I want her to be gone. I wanted her to die in this book. The mother's weaknesses and indecisiveness are beyond old at this point in a series. They brought an edge to the stories in Spoilers...

I will give the next book a try. I hope these two characters start evolving like all the others in the series.

Devastating loss.
A powerful necromancer has come to Harrow Bay for the Ash Moon festival, and she wants revenge. Jody reaches the conclusion that the only way to protect the town is to have the help of a dangerous killer, but it's no surprise when the witch turns against the town, too.
Wow, this is an exciting book with lots of magical mayhem, action, and the devastating loss of one of my favorite characters. All of these characters are well written, and unique. It has been wonderful to watch the Devastating loss.

Dealing with the Necromancer . . .
The Ash Moon Festival is drawing in lots of magical tourists, including some troubling ones. Ingrid is a powerful necromancer who is looking for revenge for her cousin Sally’s disgrace. Isabel’s timing is bad when she experiments with magic that almost explodes her knees. So temporarily, she is in a wheelchair until she heals. But as the target of a necromancer, is she able to defend herself? Jody is trying to protect her, but Ingrid may be stronger. Is there an Dealing with the Necromancer . . .

We are back with book nine of the Harrow Bay series and wow this one took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. But even though that crazy ride I am loving this series and loving every page turning twist along the way. From the powerful necromancer Ingrid looking to avenge her cousin Sally's disgrace to Isabel's crazy spell that goes wrong this series just gets better and after that ending I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next.
