First review: Is one allowed to review their own book? Maybe not. But regardless of what the world might think, I am proud of what I've done. And more importantly, I have told a story of tragedy and love and history, and I help them to be remembered. This young adult novel places us readers in the midst of the historical events and makes us experience it first-hand. From the Winter palace to the House of special purposes - a house with windows covered in white to keep the sun from coming in. We get to know the five Romanov children all while events unravel and we are taken on a journey through Russian all while the British teenagers struggle to find a way to change history. It is a story of betrayal, love (of course they fall in love!) and a fantastic way to experience history - even making history your own story. Without revealing the end - it is the great reward for the readers - you will at this point realize that the main protagonists are perhaps not the time travelers but history itself and a girl who manages to slip through the seems of history.

A big shoutout to you queen and good luck with your writing in the future! When I went in to read this book, I knew it would BREAK my heart into a thousand pieces… .. and I was right. The Romanov family is a family that lived about 100 years ago at a time when much was very troubled in Russia, and this wonderful family unfortunately suffered a terrible fate in 1918. Getting to follow the family through all their thoughts and events has been a roller coaster . The book is written in a way that gives you as a reader such a good insight into every person's life and thoughts. You get to follow every single personality and get to know all the characters, which I think has been so important. Getting everyone's idea of what happened to them was so good but also awful. To follow Milo, Theo, Ella and Ophelia back in time and be with them and experience Russia a hundred years back in time, is such a creative way to write a book. And it also made you as a reader constantly wonder what would happen to the four people from New York when it was all over. My absolute favorite characters from the book are Theo, Maria and Tatiana. I think the relationship between Theo and Maria is so cute and I ADORE Theo. Everyone needs a Theo in their lives, PLZ I want to MARRY him.😫 I also love Tatiana and Maria's personalities so much, and I just want to give everyone in the family (and Theo hehe) a big hug. The whole book is written in such a nice and beautiful way, and without lying, it is the most beautiful book I have ever read. I am not a person who annotate in my books, but if I had done that I would have written on every single page, because the whole book is like one big beautiful quote that I never wanted to end. I think the next time I re-read the book I will annotate to really remember every single important memory from that time and the book. And if I know myself, then I'm pretty sure it will not be long until I read the book again. Finally, I would like to recommend this book to anyone who does not know anything about what happened in 1918 in Russia with this family. The tragic fate they received. They deserve to be remembered and loved.🪦 Rest in peace: Nicholas, Alexandra, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia & Alexei🤍
