A window to Daniel’s world with courage, perseverance, hope, and more I know Daniel only recently from his videos posted on Youtube (You should all checked his channel out!). But even within such a short period of time, I was so touched and impressed, and can’t help watching every single video of his. But even within such a short period of time, I was so touched and impressed, and can’t help watching every single video of his. Through my journey, I saw how a severe mental illness (schizoaffective disorder) has changed a smart, funny, and goofy, but also an ambitious and promising guy that he used to be, to a miserable and helpless invalid. But, through those videos I also saw kindness, gentleness, pureness, and genuineness. Although suffering from such horrible disease, our brave Daniel is willing to reveal to us the cruelty and bitterness of a morbid mental world that every mentally ill person might be struggling with. He torn apart his heart into pieces, dived deep into his horrifying inner world, so we can see the truth beneath. And I see courage and “Perseverance”. He was and still is living in a terrible world, but he never gives up. As wounded and weakened as he is, he is fighting, as a truly valiant warrior, against the horrendously ruthless illness, and against his unfair fate. I did see meltdowns, so many times in his videos, but he never said a single word about giving up. Because that is who he is, a determined and persevered gladiator, fighting for his freedom. More importantly, I see light of hope. Darkness is so cold and long but it is not unbreakable anymore. Because Daniel has been learning. Through downs he learned looking up. Through ugliness he found beautifulness. Through weakness he realized another definition of being strong. And through hate, despite, and vexation, he has gained the ability to started loving and embracing himself again. “I’m making baby-steps”, he said, while slowly but constantly forging through the dark, toward a brighter world. And all these made this book that it is, a beautiful and touching world molded out of courage, hope, redemption, perseverance and more. (PS: It may not be easy to understand, but you can find the explanation of some poems in the latest posted video on 2.20.21 by Daniel) “I’m gonna run into the storm baby”, as I recall from one of Daniel’s videos. And I wanted to say “Dance in the storm baby”. I know the victory is coming and I believe that day won’t be long. But before the war is ended, we are and will always be there for you.

Honest, Brutal, and Enlightening This is such an honest insight into a troubled mind. Daniel battles his demons every day, yet manages to capture the beauty he sees in life. He is able conjure up profound feelings through his use of metaphors and imagery. I have learned so much. “A Love Note” is tender. “My God” is just full of such despair that it hurt to read. “I Don’t Believe” takes you right to the depths of Daniel’s torment. I am better for reading this. I feel small in his shadow. Such a l Honest, Brutal, and Enlightening This is such an honest insight into a troubled mind. I very much enjoyed the rhyme schemes in these poems and felt that the poetry helped me to get a better understanding of the author's mind. I don't usually enjoy rhymes in poetry, but these ones were exceptionally well done and were the poems I enjoyed the most. I admire the author's vulnerability and honesty, and will certainly read his next collection.
