I find very few comedians especially ones from Australia funny but in the small group of ones that i do like he is definitely one that can make me laugh in any given situation. I could have easily had a book of his be longer than it actually was because he just seems to have more stories to tell and i could easily read it happily. One of my favourite autobiography reads of the year so far and i'm glad that i picked it up!

I’ve been following Christian on Facebook for years and been to his comedy shows, so I was super excited when I heard he was bringing out a book. This was such a great read! Lots of laughs, cute photos and it was so interesting to hear about his childhood and the path that let him to be the internet sensation that he is today! I was definitely surprised to learn that behind all that leave me alone vibe, he’s actually a big old softie who adores his family and friends. What an absolutely fabulous and refreshingly unfiltered memoir! What more could one expect from the utter hilarity that is Christian Hull? Absolutely loved every minute of this, I was cracking up laughing at so many points and definitely see myself rereading it! So good! I've had the hilarious joy of seeing Christian Hull live twice, I frequently listen to his podcast so it was absolutely brilliant to hear that he had a book coming! 😁 This one definitely didn't disappoint, I felt like I could hear Christian saying what he'd written in the book, he's honestly so unfiltered and so unashamedly himself and it's awesome! 😁 He also doesn't hold back whatsoever in terms of crude humour, which makes everything even outrageously funny! 🤣 In turn though, Christian Hull writes with a lot of heart throughout, you can really tell how much he loves his family and I loved reading about his parents and younger triplet brothers and the Hull family dynamic through the years! 💛 It was also interesting seeing how Christians' working life had changed over time, from his various radio gigs to how he got creating #Trish - the 'behind the scenes' aspects of everything to do with his work was fantastic! 😁 I also love how openly that Christian spoke so openly and unfiltered about his sexuality, being a gay male and how his family have always supported him, which I love! 💛 At 241 pages, I'd traditionally not have taken as long reading this as I did, bit in between working, being sick, being distracted by shiny things (namely other books! 🤣) and not wanting to finish it as I've been enjoying it so much, 'Leave Me Alone' is definitely one I see myself reading again before long!

The photos in the middle flesh out Christian’s childhood and add a sense of authenticity to the memoir. Christian hull has emerged as an online creator in recent years, who’s online presence has shaped how a current generation treats social media. Having seen him live before, the book continues to hold the essence of his hyperbolic style of literature. To give this novel/memoir anything less than five stars would be a detriment to the clear effort and determination that Hull has given to communicate his life story with the world. Hull uses Allegories, Illusions, Foreshadowing and Extended metaphors to bring forth his overall message to leave him the f alone. Holding the novel in my hands I find a barcode on the last page, and Easter egg of sorts of you will, which leads to a video where Christian talks you through some more embarrassing photos of himself and other family members. He also thoughtfully answers fans inquisitive questions surfacing around his life story, in the final chapter which perfectly summarises the novel. This memoir is not intended for young readers, as quite a few adult scenarios were described, that not even Carrie Bickmore could put her name to. In conclusion Hull’s masterpiece ‘Leave Me Alone’ leaves the reader dumbfounded with the excitement and thrill of experiencing a collection of woeful childhood tales through the eyes of Christian Hull.

TW: homophobia What a hilarious, honest and delightful read! I have been following Christian on social media for several years and recently saw him live as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and nearly peed my pants with raucous laughter! I really enjoyed Christian's writing style, I read it in his voice as it's soooo him! It's not drab, or hard to follow along, it's obnoxious, self depricating and witty, all of the things that embody Christian. What a good belly laugh, a helpful insight and just all around great read by Mr Hull himself! This book was gifted to me by Allen and Unwin in exchange for an honest review.

I firmly stand by listening to the audiobooks of comic types is the only way to listen to the book. No one could convey the sheer hilarity of this book. I finished this book in record time as it was a very easy read. Did I laugh a lot? No! Did I laugh out loud? No! Honestly I think him doing a audio book for his book would be a lot better. It’s mostly about radio, sex and him being gay! Wasn’t as good as I thought it was going to be!! I don’t think his a author at all

This was an easy read. It wasn’t as laugh out loud funny as I expected but Christian was very candid about his life and experiences. It’s a great testimony to accepting yourself exactly as you are.

First thoughts This was quite the entertaining read and very easy to get through. A wonderful amount of X-rated content fills more or less the last 50% of the book and was a good little cackle to get through. A nice bit of a merry and light content. Hull is an internet celebrity/comedian who I would say has most recently enjoyed a healthy dose of fame through Tiktok. In these memoirs are many hilarious stories, a near-complete history of his sex life and unabashedly self-centred ramblings. What you can expect This was a very easy read and a good break from my regular reading for a few laughs. I'm not overly familiar with Hull, in terms of all the content covered in this book, and it does seem like a book mainly written for life-long fans, but I nonetheless found it entertaining. I always find it oddly reassuring and humanising to hear about the struggles and tribulations of successful people, and Hull is no exception. You get a good look at the challenges he faced to get where he is today. Hull is also gay and this features heavily in this memoir. I think one of the best things about this book is the support and solidarity Hull offers to fellow queers on the path to self-discovery. Final thoughts Simple but funny is how I would sum this up. There isn't much in the way of profound life lessons in this, but it is an excellent queer read and worth a flip through for anyone who watches Hull's stuff! Happy reading! Thanks to Allen & Unwin for sending a review copy my way

An honest and hilarious account of this mess we call life. I've been reading a few comedy books lately by a number of Aussie personalities but I've got to say that Christian's new 'Leave Me Alone' is the most relatable and entertaining. It's funny, yes obviously, but it's so much more than that. It's often moving, emotional and raw, and it feels just like Christian is talking to you - there's no pretense or 'author voice'. Having been a fan for a long time now, I thought I knew a lot about Christian (does that sound creepy to anyone else? Oh well) but in this book he holds nothing back, even including an 'adult' section in the back. It's extra-special because I feature in it (well, my Q&A does) too. 10/10.

I’m not sure what I expected reading this book, probably the classic Christian Hull I’ve perceived from his social media accounts?! Loud, obnoxious, hilarious etc This book will deliver classic “Christian Hull” and another personal and vulnerable dimension. Write that book, you never know when you might get your lucky break and it’s always fabulous to prove your teachers wrong! Congrats Christian! A must read for any CH follower! I did appreciate his thoughts on not projecting your idea of what constitutes a happy life onto others. Fans will enjoy Christian’s artless narration of the audiobook.

Funniest book i have read in such a long time. Christian Hull has a way of making me laugh out loud whenever i watch his videos and this book was absolutely no exception. After reading this book i am more convinced than ever that he is an Aspie which is also a great thing. He is so honest and has a way of making you feel like you have know him for years. I love hearing about his family and reading how close they are. Well done on an amazing book.

I have followed Christian Hull for so long on Facebook and TikTok, so when I heard he came out with a book, I was excited to add it to my influencer book TBR list. It was written so when. It was so genuine and so far is my favourite memoir. I resonated so much with Christian as I am also an introvert. While his lifestyle is vastly different from mine, I loved learning about his life and what has made him the man he is today. Overall, it was a super engaging and easy read.

Hilarious! In true Christian style, it had me bursting out in loud laughter. Christian also shares some raw and emotional parts of his past as well, which was generous of him to be so open and share. I didn’t want the book to end… perhaps a sequel is required, pretty please Christian? If a sequel does happen, please include your trip Toowoomba… just because it was such an awesome night at your gig!

---No spoilers--- Best book Ive read in years in terms of comedy. Christian hull is one of my favourite comedians and this book did not dissapoint. Completed reading it within 3 days which is not like me (I usually take weeks) I could not put this one down. Usually I sell my books after I read them although I think this one will be staying on the shelf for when I need a pick-me-up on a stressful day. I deffinetly highly recommend putting this one on your TBR list !

The enjoyment factor I got out of this book was so great. I had a blast reading it. I’m not a LOL person when I’m reading but there where parts of this books that had me doing this. Growing up in Newcastle and being the same age as Christian bought back so many memories for me. Just the pure joy of reading this was a blast.

Exactly as advertised and didn’t disappoint - whether he’s guessing paint colours or donned in wigs, I love Christian’s content. I also relate so much to his being a hardcore introvert and love that everything about him in this book is exactly who he is with no apologies. Great funny anecdotes & didn’t hold back with some of his stories.
