Definitely better than the first book in this series—I can be more positive than saying it "wasn't bad"—but it's weighed down by some of the same issues that plagued its predecessor. + Again, this book needed some editing to remove excess, repetitive thoughts that did not need to be hashed out dozens of times. Nothing in this story was complicated or nuanced enough to require revisiting that often. (And unlike TR's usual works, this one had a lot of typos in it. Nothing in this story was complicated or nuanced enough to require revisiting that often. (And unlike TR's usual works, this one had a lot of typos in it. Based on the end note, I'm assuming that's due to illness and feeling rushed to get this out, so it's likely a one-off issue, but I feel the need to point it out anyway.) + Maybe we do not need to constantly hear about clenching vajayjays and throbbing/aching/dripping dicks quite so much; there's diminishing returns for this visual. We get it: they horny. Their happy bits want to go play. But. There are some positives coming up, y'all. + This one did feel a bit more like the TR's novels I've come to expect. Mason/Broxen has an interesting backstory—but all of the fixation on the potential danger in it goes NOWHERE, so why bring it up so many times—and I found the relationship he had with his last charge kinda wholesome and intriguing. Actually, I would totally read a short bromance about those two and all of the things they discussed and how they affected each other as people. And I liked that he was written as a huge alpha male who is intellectually curious, loves to read, collects odd things because they intrigue him, was not obsessed with knocking Gabby up, and is genuinely helpful and kind. Unlike the last book, Broxen does not suffer from the Disney Prince Effect, now adapted to SFR/PNR as, the Insta-Love Marshmallow Alpha Effect. + Gabby is hard working, family-oriented, and proud, but not stubborn to the point of hurting herself or Ana with it. I would have liked a little more personality from her besides Single Mom, but at least she wasn't a TSTL stereotype or a Carb-Obsessed, Self-Hating Chubby Woman. But seriously, what does Gabby like outside of making her daughter happy or reminiscing about her family through traditions? + A believable child who isn't trying so hard to be cute. Ana is a decently written 9 year old—still just baby enough to revel in unicorns, but old enough to joke about sucking tongue or checking out butts around. And that last gift for her? Too sweet. + Navel gazing taken out of the equation, the story pacing was pretty good for this one, with enough hurdles and antagonism without relying on melodrama. So. Better effort than last time and a pretty cute holiday story overall.

An enjoyable sci-fi romance. I enjoyed this novella in the Aliens Among Us series far more than I did the first full length novel in the series. The plot set up far higher stakes in this one close to the beginning of the novel, so it seized my interest quickly. This one had a HAWT alpha hero who embodies my favorite romance novel archetype of the warrior type. This novel had a tight, exciting plot, vivid world building, and a lovely heartwarming theme of found family that was very appropriate for a holiday romance. I am glad I took a risk and read this novella, after my disappointment with the first novel in this series.

Crossing the divide What an amazing first experience with this author! These characters are fantastic! I love how Mason is so big and buff and unsure of himself, and how only for Gabby and Ana does he let his guard down. The author really made this book an emotional journey and I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read more stories by this author.

He's kind to her daughter, Ana, and he's attractive. She's late on the rent again, sees a letter from her landlord. Broxen, aka Mason, sees Gabriela get her mail, goes over. He knows she's tight on money, doesn't know how to offer help. He invites her for hot chocolate, she says yes, then remembers she needs to pick up Ana from school. He invites Anna, too. He watches over them every day. He's from another world where he used to be a bodyguard for a powerful crime family. The last day of school before Christmas break, Gabriela gets one last emergency cleaning job, which allows her to pay the rent and get some groceries and a gift. She and Ana bake cookies, and Ana takes some to Mason. When Gabriela's house burns down, Mason helps her rescue Ana, and then he invites them to stay at his house. Evaluation An alien that eats ice cream when feeling rejected?! Who reads all kinds of books, including romances? This story started out so interesting, but then didn't deliver. Gabriela and Broxen spend so much time in their heads compared to talking to each other. There's very little conflict--nothing to wrap up when house burns, no communication with parents, no contact with his old world, Gabriela and Ana just accept he's an alien, and with all the changes and she's in her life, Gabriela keeps her emotions in control at Christmas. I kept expecting someone from his home world to find Broxen. He'd fled, so he must be wanted, but that never materialized. Broxen doesn't even get robbed while shopping. Because they don't really talk, we don't even know if she's continuing her job. On the bright side, Ana was well done. She was appropriately focusing on Christmas and thinking kisses are ew. Recommendation Those who like paranormal Christmas romances will probably like this, but Roberts has written better stories. Favorite Quotes [he'd pulled out a new cartoon of ice cream, and is now putting it away nearly empty] He’d seen this phenomenon in human movies and television shows. The only people who seemed to eat ice cream like this were humans—often female—who had just been broken up with. Though Gabriela had been born and raised in these mountains, she’d never once considered taking up mountain climbing—but she’d gladly climb Mason Lee. The [cookie] bear continued to stare up at Broxen, happy despite its companions having been devoured before its very eyes. [Ana's bedroom] was filled with so many pinks, purples, and blues that you’d think a unicorn had farted in it. Broxen and Ana chatted—mostly Ana—as they cooked. He’d rather shovel snow from the driveway all winter—and risk attacks from hungry mountain lions—than deal with this [holiday mall parking] regularly. If she could accept an alien as her mate, Broxen could brave crowds of Christmas shoppers. Possible Triggers (spoilers) Sex: 2 scenes on Christmas Eve; desire, arousal, and fantasizing before that Language: 4 F words, 16 Lord's name in vain, 4 S words Violence: fire, bullying, wild animal attack

He finds that purpose when he meets Gabriela and Ana they become his whole world and there is simply nothing he won't do or sacrifice for them. Gabriela and her beautiful daughter And are struggling through some hard times but they have each other and their neighbor who always seems to be looking out for them. When tragedy strikes all three learn what the true meaning of Christmas really is. There is so much love in this book not just the passionate kind but the love of a father and a daughter as well! It's truly a great read. It also had some great funny moments and mentions other books by authors I've read over the years that I've also loved and a mention of how Gabriela loves Beauty and the Beast but truly loved beast more than the human Prince he turns into later. I loved that she said this because this has always been his I felt about that fairytale as well. It's my favorite and has been since I was a little girl but I always loved beast and never understood when he needed to be human. One of the more enjoyable holiday reads out there I highly recommend reading it!💖💖💖🌹🌹💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

Oh MAN. For a guy who had a rough, somewhat deadly lifestyle before dropping onto earth to hide out, Broxen/Mason was a total sweetheart. The guy might react violently if it's needed to keep Gabriela and Ana safe, but he's a utter sweeeeeeetie to them. Just a complete marshmallow of epic proportions. And he's reserved enough when he and Gabriela first meet that Gabriela doesn't see his interest. At all. She might like to look at him and she might enjoy their interactions, but she doesn't think so Oh MAN. Until Broxen steps up and helps them when they need it most. Then she starts dreaming of all sorts of things. A little holiday fear followed by a lot of holiday cheer, a somewhat clueless alien trying his hardest to figure out how these holidays work, a couple of steamy kisses, and what ends up being a really REALLY awesome Christmas. I like these aliens and the women who capture their hearts. *thumbs up* -Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal

Alien Christmas story This was better than a lot of other recent releases by this author duo. I liked all the characters and the storyline made sense. It got pretty repetitive and really slowed down the story. It got pretty repetitive and really slowed down the story. I would've preferred to read more about things they noticed about each other that drew them together like the male lead helping the female lead's daughter with her bike etc. One big plot hole is that the male lead worries about being discovered by the earth's govt, but wants to have a baby with a human. How will he hide an alien hybrid baby without access to the tech that hides him to also hide his baby? It doesn't seem like he can leave the planet easily, either. Other than those two things, I enjoyed this book.

Moving in with the alien Santa Although it verges on the saccharine, there is plenty of steam in this holiday alien romance. The Best Stories! This was one of the best books. Y’all write the best books out there! Gabriella, Ana and Broxon were so right for each other. It took a fire to bring them together. Especially at Christmas. I loved how Broxon wanted to care for them and make Christmas so special for Ana and Gabriella. That love and caring is what life should be like. Keep writing more stories like this.

A sweet holiday treat! A lonely male, a single mom with a daughter, all missing something important in their lives. These folks make a most delightful family; seeing them achieve that goal is heartwarming. That Gabriela and Ana accept Broxen’s unique qualities makes me very happy! This is another story you simply won’t want to miss!
