Except, things have never come together for me in the romance department. Until Kellan Crawford walks onto the field as the team’s newest bat boy. Bells and whistles go off in my body, and just like that, I’m totally crushing on a guy for the first time in my life. Too bad he’s the coach’s son and officially off-limits. Kellan Crawford I’m working toward my statistics degree, so landing the bat-boy position with the Easton U Pirates is right up my alley. It keeps me close to the action on the field, even if that means hauling equipment, picking up sweaty jockstraps, and putting up with the players’ antics. My dad’s the coach, and his number-one rule is never to play favorites…which probably includes getting too friendly with the team captain. But Brady Donovan’s annoyingly perfect smile and protective nature are making that nearly impossible. When something shifts between us at an away game, everything is thrown off-kilter. Donovan’s never been with a guy before, and I certainly don’t want to be his test case. But I can’t seem to help myself. He’s sweet and hot and somehow charms the baseball pants right off me. If Coach ever catches wind of this, he’ll bench us both. Disappointing my dad might kill me, but so would losing the guy who makes my heart pound harder than a home run in the bottom of the ninth. So much for not playing favorites.

When I read the blurb, I was almost certain that this was gonna be a big winner for me. At the beginning, Christina states that this book is especially for those who are in need of something a bit more light and "feel good". It definitely made me feel good, and it definitely came at the right time when I really needed something like this.  Now that is not to say that nothing happens in this book, because I wasn't bored for a second. It just felt nice reading this whole story in one go, with a smile on my face.... If you like college books and sports and first time "gay love", then you should really give this one a go. Brady and Kellan were so adorable together and their friends and parents were pretty awesome as well.  If I have one complaint about this one, it's that I could have done with a bit more... But isn't that always the case when we find something we love. This book isn't as long as most of Christina's novels, but it isn't a short story either.  Even though I was a bit sad when I finished, there was also light at the end of the tunnel, because there is gonna be a second book and I have a feeling that, because of the main characters,  it will be even better than this one... Hopefully, the wait won't be too long ;)   An ARC was provided to in exchange for an honest review Follow Me On: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Blog

I love Christina Lee's new adult college romances. Her couples always feel like they really are taking their first steps into a life long relationship which has all the right ingredients to succeed. It's medium steamy, as I'd expect for an NA setting, and there's loads of feels all over the place. This one made me go "awwww" a lot, it is just a smashing feel good romance. I'm also hugely intrigued by the hints given for the next couple in the series! #ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Bat Boy is a low angst, moderately sexy new adult M/M romance. The MCs are juniors in college, so around age 21 (Brady has a birthday in the story, but his age isn't mentioned). I typically avoid YA/NA books, because I prefer to read about more mature MCs, but I enjoyed this story. Both guys have supportive families. Kellan is out to his parents, while Brady is just making sense of his attraction to Kellan. Brady's never been into girls and doesn't care much about sex, but when he first sees Kellan, all the pieces slot into place. Kellan is the coach's son and not allowed to fraternize with the baseball players. This didn't make sense to me. Wouldn't you want your bat boy (aka, dugout manager) to get along with the team? The players are all friends, so why does Kellan have to be on the outskirts? In any case, the guys do not follow the rules and end up forming a tentative friendship that deepens into something more. The sexy moments are tender but not so sweet that the chemistry is lost. Kellan and Brady are smokin' hot together. I liked the secondary characters, especially Brady's younger brother who's on the spectrum and obsessed with baseball stats. However, I wish the storyline with Girard and Maclain (the catcher and pitcher) hadn't been quite so front and center. It was very obvious that they were going to be the MCs of the next book, because there was a lot about Maclain's absent father, Girard making out with his girlfriend, and the constant bickering between them. There's even a pivotal scene where Maclain accidentally gives Girard a bloody nose. All that blood makes Kellan faint, and Brady immediately springs into action to care for Kellan, pretty much giving away their relationship. I wish the epilogue had been longer, but I would call the ending a tentative HEA. Considering the setup, I can't not read book 2. Girard and Maclain seem to hate each other, so it's sure to be an enemies-to-lovers fest.

With a college baseball team backdrop, this story follows short-stop Brady Donovan, as he comes to terms with his sexuality after falling head-over-heels for the team’s new bat boy, Kellan Crawford. Brady and Kellan share a connection that’s both meaningful and exciting, but Kellan can’t even contemplate getting involved with the gorgeous gay-newbie because of one very major roadblock: Kellan’s father is the head coach and made Kellan swear that he wouldn’t get too personal with any of the players if he worked for the team. Situational conflict aside, this story is lite on the overall angst. Brady and Kellan’s romantic relationship is easy to believe, with a natural and smooth progression, helped along by the fact that both leads are genuine and endearing young men who deserve nothing but happiness in life. This story is undoubtedly sweet and sexy, and I can’t wait to read more about the Easton U Pirates in future instalments.

What a sweet, feel good story! Brady and Kellan were just so endearing and so adorable, they put a big smile on my face!  This also had a nice amount of steam with some fabulous first time scenes as Brady is just discovering he is attracted to men.  Throw in a team of college baseball players, great friends, a doting brother, and great parents and this was a recipe for success!  This was a shorter read from Christina Lee, designed to make the reader feel good, mission accomplished!

He also has an inconvenient crush on Brady, and Brady doesn't make it easy for him. #Irrisistible 2. The Plot.. So these two boys have a crush on each other, and the other doesn't exactly know. For all Kellan knows, Brady is straight and is just being nice. little does he know, that he has invoked some new alien feelings in Brady ever since he first saw him. Brady doesn't care what his teammates think when he sits by Kellan, or when he tries to include him in team activities. the problem is, the coach... Both are fiercely loyal but... #TheHeartWantsWhatItWants 3. The Romance.... ONE WORD....ADORABLE! The banter, the jokes, the ribbing, the texts, the sweetness, the intimacy ... #NeedISayMore The way Brady didn't give up on befriending Kellan, and the way Kellan couldn't keep him at arm's length, despite his Dad's rules, who happens to be the coach,. Kellan resisted because he doesn't at to disappoint his father, because he didn't want to be a straight boy's experiment. But Brady wouldn't let him. He was relentless with his sweetness, with his shyness, with his vulnerability and his goofiness. All this broke through Kellan's walls until all that mattered was being together and experiencing feelings both of them didn't expect nor feel before. #AFirstTimeForEverthing 4. The Steam.. I'm a sucker for a gay virgin. This didn't disappoint. Brady was beautiful in his vulnerability, in the rawness of his feelings and the genuineness of his fumbling. He was honest, even when he was overwhelmed and Kellan was the perfect counterpart. Kellan, despite all his hang-ups about being with Brady, embraced their connection, physical or otherwise, and was ever so patient. From the smallest touch to the full-on love making, these guys were the perfect blend of sweet and scorching. #APinchOfSweetASprinkleOfSexy 5. The HEA... Still swoony, still sweet with a hot scene thrown in the mix... #AllTheSighs Honorable Mentions: Kellan being a Math Nerd and a Baseball fan. I loved how Christina just seamlessly kicked the stereotypes to the curb! #BestOfBothWorlds Brady's Autistic brother. he was such a fresh breathe of air. Girard and Maclain... #HolyUSTBatman<---- Can't wait for their book! The supportive families and friends all around. #NoH8 #HappyReading I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

DNF 70% It’s just didn’t work for me... I can’t really tell what was the problem. I do like fluffy angst-free stories from time to time and Kellan and Brody were likable and sweet but IMO something was missing. I’m actually not really surprised ‘cause it’s exactly the same thoughts I had about the last book by this author. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I also understood why Brady & Kellan each had reservations about being together but it just didn’t seem like it should’ve been that big of a deal to me. The ending has a coming out scene that didn’t quite fit with the characters, and they hadn’t spoken about it at all beforehand. I was uncomfortable with it, as it felt forced, and as if one character made the decision for the both of them. I guess this one just wasn’t for me!

*3.5 stars This was really sweet and romantic, but still had that angsty emotions that made it even better. Both main characters were adorable and I liked that (for once) it was a baseball sport romance - even though I understood very little of the game itself, I enjoyed the change of scenario. (hockey is still my number 1 tho) I will probably pick up the next book, because the two upcoming MC definitely piqued my interest in this one and I really want to see how their story turns out.

Their innocence was refreshing. I don't remember when was my previous New Adult and I liked that though their had their sexy times together it wasn't at all focused about that but about finding something special in each other, in their companionship. Brady Donovan is the captain of the Easton U Pirates Baseball team. Things are going pretty great for him on his first year of college working hard on his studies and having fun on the field with his new team. He is living with two of his teammates - his best friend from childhood Trent Hollister and Maclain (who has his issues for sure) and is working his way to building some sort of friendship with the team's "Bat Boy" - the coach's son - Kellan. While they have fun teasing each other, Kellan always keeps a distance which frustrates Brady but he is persistent! There is something MORE about Kellan. Something he has never felt before. Makes him question what he assumed about himself.. Kellan Crawford liked Brady more than he should be he can't have what he wants. He promised his father he will NOT play favorites with anyone in the team but it's getting hard with how much he is liking Brady and the signals he isn't sure if he is misreading about the guy. But when Brady's room is flooded in an away game they find themselves spending the night in the same room. Kellan doesn't dare to hope and Brady wakes up to a few confusing thoughts of his own. This makes Brady even more persistent in trying to become Kellan's friend (and maybe more) and moreover it's getting more difficult to down play their interest in one another. It's only a matter of time before they slip - someone sees them or worst Kellan's father gets a wind of what's going on.. I won't say much more about this book as it's rather short and I don't want to spoiler anything... I'll just say a few things.. Firstly I did NOT anticipate where Christina was taking this series with the next installment and I'm REALLY excited to read it. There's also a really sweet interaction between Brady's younger brother how has autism and Kellan - both being into statistics. That's one of the reasons Brady was drawn to Kellan in the first place. His real interest and patience in speaking with Ricky. My only issue with this book is a personal one. I don't know anything about baseball and frankly I'm not even intrigued to find out more. Any sport related mention in this book was lost on me. I didn't even realize at the beginning that Kellan's job was not on the field but around it.. hehe. Lucky for me the story was more focused on them and not the game. If you need the comfort right now (as I feel most of us do these days) Brady and Kellan is the answer. It's your spoon full of sugar :) I kindly received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. More Reviews HERE

He is gay, but seems to live his life in two modes...trying to be invisible with the team or being totally vibrant when out in his element. He has been hurt in the past so is already wary of sports players who are experimenting. And his father has already told him players are off-limits and no playing favorites. But Brady cannot seem to help the fact that he likes and is attracted to Kellan and is not afraid to grab snippets of time with him. They have common interests and give good banter. But even too close a friendship is forbidden by their coach and there is social pressure from friends and teammates. They cannot totally resist, but know the risk might be too much for either of them. This is a forbidden, swoony, passionate, heartfelt, college sports romance. It has a bit of angst, but still puts a smile on your face. I adored both Brady and Kellan as they are genuinely nice, thoughtful, good guys with big hearts. I enjoyed seeing Brady start coming into his own and experiencing firsts...and Kellan starting to show his personality more. The whole situation might seem wrong and is totally against the rules, but at the same time feels so right to them. There are some fun dynamics with his team and their friends. Brady's brother Ricky is so endearing and whip-smart. I loved how both Brady and Kellan respected his talents. I am really looking forward to the couple in the next book as we have seen their tense dynamic throughout this one (I was shipping them early on). It is going to be an interesting match up for sure. Brady's arc is all about self discovery; he finds comfort in his own skin and an unexpected happiness when with Kellan. In contrast, Kellan is already out but his struggle is in disappointing his stickler for rules father. These two start off with flirty banter and secret gazes. Then one night changes everything for them, and they evolve into so much more. The characters were great, they didn't have a lot of depth but enough to keep me turning the page. And of course, Brady's little brother, Ricky, stole the show every chapter he appeared in. Brady's best friend, Hollister, was the protective bestie everyone needs. There were a few tense moments but for the most part this book was just an enjoyable escape. The story line revolves around the budding relationship between Brady and Kellan, which starts off hidden and then transforms into how it's perceived when out of the bag. Honestly, it was the perfect book to take a break to, with awkward moments that had me laughing out loud and enough steam that had me endlessly swooning. There is also a sequel surrounding another couple you meet in the book, and all I can say is that I can't wait to read it!

4.5* Bat Boy was such a sweet, low angst, drama free little love story! So much pining and longing looks, from Brady to Kellen and Kellen to Brady, they were both so adorable! One of my favorite things about this story was the way they made their relationship public- so cute!!! I loved how sweet Kellen was with Brady's little brother, and how accepting both their families and friends were- considering this was a first for Brady. Sometimes you just want a feel good story, and Christina Lee hit it out of the park with Bat Boy! I'm so happy this will be a series, I can't wait to see who's up to bat next!

4 stars. After a month without reading anything (thanks, college, you suck) picking up this book was really something. I love Lee's books — though they usually have a more deep and serious tone — and this one was no exception. It was the perfect book for what I needed: happy and light. With great writing this nicely edited story follows Brady Donovan and Kellan Crawford, both college juniors, as they fall in love. The one problem? Kellan is the bat boy for his father's baseball team and his one big rule: don't date the players and don't play favorites. Kind of hard with Brady being the sweetest person ever. Told with a double POV this story is about two boys finding simple perfect real love while learning about each other and about themselves. As the blurb says this is a shorter read and a feel good one. That doesn't mean the character are shallow, though. They are both well developed and complete. I would say that they are your usual college kid: lacking trauma and searching for who they are. For Brady that means learning about his sexuality. Both of them have happy families who love them and are supporting and don't we love to see it? The relationship is what came shorter for me. I will admit that when it got to the point that they were thinking 'I love him' I was missing more interaction. That's not to say they don't interact, they do. But I really love when the characters just talk about whatever, you know? Just talking and enjoying each other. Here it felt like every scene was about getting them to the next stage: the sex scenes, their conversations, etc. So I kind of missed that. But that's just me. The end was kind of predictable but that's fine as this is a happy book and you always know where it's going. There are no big fights and breaking up. They like each other and want to be together so they find a way. It was really sweet how they decided to choose each other. I REALLY want to read the next one. Not to toot my own horn, but I KNEW IT it would be about Maclain and Girard. Can't wait for what probably will be an enemies to lover, I think? Whatever it is, I know it will be of the charts with chemistry considering the preview we get here. I loved that the Lee included Ricky, Brady's sixteen years old brother that happens to be autistic. The character is a secondary one so he isn't super developed but he isn't just a stereotype either. He is a boy that is neuroatypical, yes, but he is also more. I love to read books with character that don't fit our society idea of "normal" and don't make a big deal of it. (Some might say that his only propose was to help construct Brady and yeah, that is true, but I would argue that is the case for most secondary characters who are family.) Overall, a great book. It delivers what promises: a feel good story for people looking for a bit of light right now. (Not that Trump losing wasn't a whole lot of light for my weak heart. Bye, bitch!) If that is what you are looking for then this one is it! You will love it. Cheating: (view spoiler)[No. (hide spoiler)] Love triangle: (view spoiler)[Nope. (hide spoiler)] Strong homophobia: (view spoiler)[No. (hide spoiler)] Triggers: (view spoiler)[Nothing comes to mind? (hide spoiler)] HEA: (view spoiler)[Yeah, a cute one at that. (hide spoiler)]

Every time I dive into another book by Christina Lee, I’m reminded, all over again, just how talented she is. Her stories aren’t just good for a romance book or for an LGBTQIA+ book; they’re just plain GOOD, period. They transcend being able to categorize, and I wholeheartedly believe everyone needs to read her books. Love doesn’t discriminate against race, religion, gender, sexuality, or even personality. They transcend being able to categorize, and I wholeheartedly believe everyone needs to read her books. Love doesn’t discriminate against race, religion, gender, sexuality, or even personality. Lee’s books capture the essence of love and can make you feel it through her words. This book brings us two different, yet connected young men. One (Brady) is a baseball player, one is the team’s bat boy. One (Kellan) is the team captain, one is the coach’s son. One is just figuring out his sexuality, one is already out. Despite their differences, both are forbidden to be together (coach’s rules), yet both are inexplicably drawn to each other. These characters were written with a lot of thought put into them. You can tell by how much depth they had, both emotionally and physically. They were given just a stereotypical role to fill; they were men of good character, thoughtfulness, yet had flaws. They were well rounded, genuine, but still human. The fact that they struggled with their feelings, and often emotions, gave them a sense of realness that was endearing. I loved Brady and Kellan, individually and together. Brady and Kellan were not the only enjoyable characters in this book. I enjoyed the relationships and banter between teammates. I believe there is more between Maclain and Girard, and I’m interested in learning what it is, no matter which direction it goes. There’s a lot to unpack when it comes to Maclain. Hollister and Jasmine are great characters, as well. I enjoyed Brady’s family immensely. Overall, this was a great group of characters, both big and small. The story wouldn’t be what it is without every single one of them. Once again, we find ourselves in possession of another well-written story. I’ve already sung Lee’s praises, but I have a hard time stopping. I’ve yet to find a book, written by her, that didn’t draw me in, keep me captivated, and leave me wanting more. It makes me excited about reading. It makes me want to shout it out to the rooftops in all directions because everyone needs to read it. ***Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure. 3.5 stars I was really looking forward to reading this book once I read the synopsis. Brady the straight team captain from the baseball team falling for Kellan the bat boy and coaches son. I wanted to feel those mixed emotions of Brady struggling with himself about having feelings for another man. I also wanted the excitement of letting go and not caring what anybody thinks about loving who you love. I didn’t get those feelings until well past the middle of the book. This book took awhile to get there. It was slow. I was well into 30% and I didn’t feel any butterflies in my stomach. The main characters hardly interacted with each other. It’s definitely a slow burn kinda book. I loved their first real sexual interaction. I felt how real it was for the guys. The excitement of being together. But they were all too spaced out. I hated that. I loved when they finally admitted to each other that they had feelings for one another and I loved that they both let everyone know. Nothing mattered but them. This was a ok read. I think I needed it to be a little more passionate. A little more fast paced. But overall it was a good read. *ARC Provided for a honest review.* (This same review is on my blog Goodreads account.)
