Desiree is convinced that Judd has been kidnapped, however, all signs point to him being a runaway groom. Kate and her friends are determined to help Detective Ben Abrams uncover the truth behind Judd's disappearance. A fun, fast-paced mystery that kept me engaged and guessing until the end. Loved the characters and their interactions. The setting was really lovely as well and so vividly described that I felt like I was right there on the beach, enjoying the sunshine and I could practically smell the delectable goods being baked at the bakery. As for the mystery, I thought it was well-crafted and not at all how I expected it to turn out ( always a plus). All in all, I enjoyed the third book in this charming series and look forward to another visit to Coral Cay. Her friend Desiree from NYC is in town with her fiancé, famous marine specialist Judd and the two are planning a beach wedding. Kate is making the cake and other goodies while her best friend Maxi is furnishing the flowers. The small wedding party is excited but the groom never shows. Desiree is sure that something has happened and that Judd would never leave her at the altar. But his boat is missing. Kate and Maxi and other friends, including Oliver the dog owned by the town but lives with Kate, stand by Desiree and work to find evidence of what happened and they did find some evidence to kick the investigation in high gear. The title is very appropriate as Detective Ben Abrams investigates, no one close to Judd knew about the wedding-not his adult children nor his business partner Zoey. An ex girlfriend, actress Lola Montgomery, is in town claiming that the two are back together. It doesn't look good for Desiree's story. A reality show has rented a large house in a cove where Judd was concerned about an endangered species. Could this be tied in with his disappearance? This is a mystery that had me guessing as tension builds up. Not an ending that I expected but a satisfying one! I had thought that there may be romance in the air for Kate but the wind may be blowing in a different direction. Hmm. I am looking forward to the next story. It’s like his footsteps faded away in the sand. When I finally began to fit the puzzle pieces together, I really appreciated what a clever mystery “A Tale of Two Cookies” turns out to be. Kate McGuire and Sam Hepplewhite co-own the Cookie House in gorgeous Coral Cay, Florida. Maxi, a florist, is Kate’s best friend. One of their friends, Desiree, is marrying Judd Cooper, a wealthy marine biologist in a couple of days, and they’re all excited over the beach nuptials. At this point, I was flipping pages as fast as I could read them from the time the wedding party realized the groom wasn’t coming...until the last page. So many possible reasons flooded my mind as to what could have happened, and I was in my zone following the storyline to see what path the author chose to take with the mystery. I felt like I was watching my favorite soap opera during summer sweeps! Needless to say, this is a page-turner story and the Coral Cay Irregulars book club members go all out to help Detective Ben Abrams solve the crime. I also love stories that include sea turtles nesting and baby turtles hatching. There is so much more happening behind the scenes that I won’t give away, but the villainous schemer responsible is satisfyingly captured. The ending is spectacular! I was provided with an advanced copy via NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you.

With so much going on, the author does an admirable job of building the plot and weaving the threads of the story together to build tension and intrigue. Central to keeping the pace on track are the delightful characters that inhabit the small island, Coral Cay. Kate is not only friendly, but she has a knack for making everyone feel welcome and wanted. I especially enjoyed how she knows just what kind of cookie to give to customers to fit their tastes without any input from them, even after only meeting the customer for the first time. Her sidekicks, best friend, Maxi (a fiery Cuban florist) and the adorable dog and town mascot, Oliver, are on hand to assist no matter what situation pops up. As the mystery progresses, I loved that Kate also calls upon the Coral Cay Irregulars, the local mystery readers book club, to hunt for clues. I find it appealing that Kate doesn’t try to investigate on her own, and doesn’t willfully put herself into danger. It lends a greater sense of reality to the book. The mystery itself is quite intriguing. Without providing any spoilers, it centers on a groom who disappears the night before his wedding. All appearances point toward him jilting his bride-to-be, but the bride thinks foul play was involved. As the story progressed, the clues presented had me guessing all over the place and not once was I right. The clever diversions kept me turning pages and I couldn’t put the book down until I’d read the last page. With all the various subplots wrapped up together in a cohesive story, I closed the book, hungry for cookies and hungry to see what comes next for Kate and her friends! I was provided with an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Unfortunately, I figured it all out fairly early [the cost of being a voracious cozy and mystery reader]. Fortunately, it didn't matter. The writing is just SO GOOD, and the story just so engaging [and it never gets lost in the midst of introduction of a lot of new characters, nor do all the characters get lost in the story. I never once thought "WHO are they again" which is nothing short of amazing these days], that it was such a delightful ride to the end, and that reveal is really the best there is. Ms. Calder knows how to write both a reveal AND an excellent ending and it was just so satisfying. My only concern is that we may be headed into a love triangle and I am so hoping that isn't the case. I despise them and I do not want this beautiful and fun series ruined by something so trite as a stupid love triangle. I really love this series and am really glad that the bestie forc *AHEM* recommended ;-) to me; I have not been disappointed. The authorities think Desiree's been jilted by her wealthy eco-activist beau but Desiree's afraid he's been kidnapped. Or worse. Kate never wavers in her belief in Desiree. So she's determined to figure out what's happened to Judson. Eve Calder makes an intriguing departure from the pattern most cozies follow. There's no body. The characters and the reader aren't even sure if a crime's happened. The author makes sure that there are plenty of suspects including Judson’s actress ex and poachers who all have reasons for tangling with the missing groom. The pace intensifies as Judson continues to be MIA. No one’s heard from him including his children and business partner. Eve Calder has an engaging writing style with entirely likable characters. We get check-ins with the quirky residents of Coral Cay, including Oliver, the local dog about town, who helps Kate with her investigations by uncovering important evidence. I really appreciated the love and support that Kate and even Maxi give to Desiree. Shoutout to strong women supporting each other. Fans of culinary mysteries will be drawn in by the humor and likability of the characters, the delicious descriptions of baked goods and the well-plotted and intriguing mysteries. I really like all Kate's friends (especially that fun and crazy Maxi!) and it's so cool how Sam's character changed for the better from the very first book. He always does a little something in each book to let Kate know he completely trusts her now. I love how the whole town always works together during a case. The cookie lessons at the Cookie House turned into a sleuthing session or a session where Ben would give them the lowdown on the case progress. The perp was a very sneaky and convoluted planner that was for sure, but there were a lot of someones who were equally smart and able to figure things out. The showdown was great! The very ending of the book was really good, because it did the complete wrap-up of anything that wasn't explained along the way. I'm always looking forward to the next in this series! Because I did listen on audio one or two characters did get a little mixed up for me because the voice characterization was a little close, but the narrator is still very good. Overall, if you want something a little different and creative in your cozies, this is a great series to pick up.

A Tale of Two Cookies is the third installment of the Cookie House Mysteries by Eve Calder. The protagonist, Kate McGuire is part owner of a bakery on the Florida island of Coral Cay. Kate is excited for the wedding, but when the groom doesn’t show up, she feels she must investigate because Desiree is convinced there is foul play involved, even though most don’t. Kate is excited for the wedding, but when the groom doesn’t show up, she feels she must investigate because Desiree is convinced there is foul play involved, even though most don’t. At the same time, a reality show is being filmed on the island and there is plenty of film crew running around. Is it possible the two could be connected? This novel is fun, fast-moving and light. The main characters are well-developed and likeable. The supporting characters are also believable. Calder tells the story in a way that is easy-to-read and understand. The food references make readers want to eat while reading. It will inspire the readers to want to visit the island to sample the bakery goods, as well as the other foods mentioned. While this is a typical cozy with no graphic sex, language, and violence, it doesn’t quite fit the genre of culinary mystery because there are no recipes at the end. Most good culinary mysteries include recipes at the end, and while it doesn’t make the novel any less fun, it is a flaw. All told, this is a good novel and a good series for those who enjoy cozies. “A Tale of Two Cookies” by Eve Calder the 3rd instalment in the "A Cookie House Mystery" series. I loved this book and totally need to read previous books, which I bought last week! I found myself so engrossed in the story that I read it in one day. It was entertaining, full of twists and turns and I didn’t completely guess whodunnit until Kate did. plus all the descriptions of the cookies made my mouth water. I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends and I can’t wait for book 4 to come out! I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from St.Martins Press and NetGalley. Cookie House Mystery: 3 Another solid cozy mystery by this author, this time without a body to kick things off. Instead, it's a missing person, and Kate rallies the Coral Cay Irregulars into helping out with the investigation. Kate is an easily sympathetic main character - she's intelligent, sensible, quietly capable, and isn't obnoxious while trying to gather information. The author uses the interesting approach of understating some story points, leaving it to the observant reader to draw the necessary conclusions without outright stating them. Bonus, there's two recipes at the back of the book (not Kate's sadly, which are apparently entirely fictional). Hopefully there'll be a sequel coming soon.

I received an ARC of this book from the publishers in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my opinion of the book or my review itself. At the same time, a reality show is filming in a house with a lot of pleasant and unpleasant memories. Honestly, what is there not to love about this series? There's colorful and caring characters, a vibrant setting, an adorable dog, delicious sounding cookies, and a mystery that always gets solved by the end of the book. The world of Coral Cay is one you will want to keep visiting-just make sure you have some cookies nearby, because you will definitely have a craving!

Loving this series! In book three, A Tale of Two Cookies, Kate McGuire is starting to feel more at home in Coral Cay. Her old friend, Desiree has come to Coral Cay to get married to a well-known environmentalist. On the wedding day, the groom is nowhere to be found. No one, except Desiree and Kate, believe that something bad has happened to him. In fact, some people begin to doubt there ever was a wedding to take place and the groom took off with cold feet. A cute cozy set in Coral Cay, Florida. Kate McGuire is a trained pastry chef who has a partnership in a local bakery. But of course gets herself involved in s local mystery. An interesting cozy and fun to try and figure out who is really behind all the crazy things going on.

Thanks to the publisher, via Netgalley, for an advance e-galley for honest review. 3.5 stars, rounded up. There were a lot of good elements to this one- I liked the reality tv side plot, and this one revolved around a missing persons case for something a little different from the usual cozy murder mystery plot. I did find that in terms of providing further character development or creating/carrying out a plot line to be developed throughout the series (two things I'm always hoping for in a cozy Thanks to the publisher, via Netgalley, for an advance e-galley for honest review. 3.5 stars, rounded up. This is still a series I'd be happy to continue.

OK, and this one was also great! A third book in the Coral Cay location with our favorites, Kate and Maxi. Once again, we bring in the complication of someone Kate knew in New York, to add to the mix, although this time it is an old friend and mentor. I found this book hard to put down and when I made myself go to sleep instead of staying up to finish, I found myself dreaming of the plot and possible endings. Once again, the characters came alive. Once again, Oliver the dog seems to be magic. I' OK, and this one was also great! A third book in the Coral Cay location with our favorites, Kate and Maxi. I hope that Ms. Calder writes more in this series - and also that she keeps the same reader. The Audible versions are so good! The reader handles a variety of accents with ease, and doesn't mispronounce words.

I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Kate and her friends, and this book definitely showed how good a friend she is. Kate’s best friend is getting married on Coral Cay, and when the groom mysteriously disappears, everyone has their own opinion on why he took off. Kate desperately wants to believe her friend, that her fiancé wouldn’t just disappear like that, so she begins to put the clues together, determined to find the answers. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series by Eve Calder. #ATal I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Kate and her friends, and this book definitely showed how good a friend she is. I absolutely LOVE the Cookie House Mystery series! You get sucked into Coral Cay and all the residents because they're all so charming. I can't wait for the next in the series to find out what is in store for Kate, Maxi and the rest of the characters. Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the ARC giveaway. This cozy mystery series has fast become a favorite of mine and we are only three books in. In fact, this book is actually my favorite of the series so far. I really appreciated the fact that the set up in this book was a bit different with the fact that we weren't sure what had happened to the groom. Was he missing of his own accord? Was he dead? Or had something else happened to him? It added a level of suspense to this book that you don't always get with other cozy mysteries. It's hard to talk about books in series without sharing spoilers so I don't want to say too much. I will say that this series stands out for me because of the characters. This series truly embodies all of the cozy vibes. The delicious desserts, the wide cast of characters, and the cozy town of Coral Cay all combine to give me all of the cozy vibes in this series. It's just perfection! Overall, the setup of this book really helped it to standout for me! Give this series a try (I do think it would be helpful to read in order if possible) if you enjoy cozy mysteries, are looking for a cozier read with a mystery tied in, or just want slightly suspenseful reads without all of the darkness and violence. This series is one of my favorites for a reason! Bottom Line: My favorite book of the series so far! Disclosure: I received a copy of this book thanks to the publisher and NetGalley. Honest thoughts are my own.

This is the third book in the series and I'm pleased to have read all of the books! This one is my favorite. This particular book brings us a wedding, except the groom doesn't show up! The story really gets good after that. Kate McGuire, our main character, takes on the challenge to assist in the hunt and soon gets herself involved in interesting ways! Each and every character is created perfectly! I loved the interaction between the characters and the storyline is amazing.
