Loved the illustrations but as a picture book it could have been shorter.

Digital illustrations complement the story of two brothers, twins Julian and Joaquin Castro, who grew up poor in Texas but rose to important government positions later in life. The brothers had strong family support and a great example in their activist mother, and as they matured, they focused on making the world a better place for others, especially those in their community. Julian served as mayor of San Antonio and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Barack Obama and even ran for President himself. Joaquin is a United States Congressman. Some readers will be inspired by the example of these hard-working brothers to become involved in politics or the political process while others will surely be impressed by their journey and how they seem determined to give back to those who helped them. While this account of their lives might be a tiny bit romanticized, teachers and parents will be pleased to have a biography featuring two Mexican American politicians and social activists.

An amazing story about the life and accomplishment of 2 brothers who have served and are currently serving in various political capacities in American politics. I love how the book focuses on their grandmother and mother and the powerful impact they had on the boys as they were growing up.
