Christmas Ever After by Karen Schaler 4.5 stars Oh this book reads like a Christmas #Hallmark movie! It’s so fun. Riley is like the grinch and has never celebrated Christmas for many years. I knew when I settled into this one that it would be delightful and full of holiday feelings. I’ve enjoyed every one of her holiday stories so far, and this one was just as enjoyable! I’ve enjoyed every one of her holiday stories so far, and this one was just as enjoyable! This is one of those stories where a person that doesn’t enjoy Christmas at all is thrust into something very Christmas-y and eventually opens her heart to the holiday season. I always, always love this type of story! In this case, famous author Riley Reynolds is told by her publisher that she needs to write a Christmas romance story, but she really doesn’t want to. She swore off Christmas when she was just eight years old and she hasn’t celebrated it since then. Her publisher arranges for her to host a Christmas Camp event with some of her loyal readers in an effort to promote her upcoming story, and just before she is to go to the event, she has an embarrassing television interview. During the interview, she was taken off-guard by an unapproved question and her response gave three ex-boyfriends the idea that she may still hold flames for them. So they all show up at her Christmas Camp event with hopes of rekindling their relationships. The synopsis compares Christmas Ever After to Mamma Mia and The Bachelorette, and I have to agree that this story does give off those vibes. The three ex-boyfriends that show up at Riley’s Christmas Camp are a nod to the amazing Mamma Mia, and their interactions with Riley are a little bit like The Bachelorette. Even more (and better!) than those comparisons, this book feels like a Hallmark movie, like snuggling up with hot chocolate and a warm blanket on a cold day. It’s scrumptious and really made me feel Christmas while I was reading it. The first book that I read by Ms. Schaler was Christmas Camp, and it was awesome to see that this story nods back to the earlier one so well. The camp that Riley hosts is one much like the camp in the earlier book, complete with Christmas-themed rooms in the resort and Christmas-themed events for the guests to enjoy. And the supporting cast of characters is wonderful and lovable-this is something that I have grown to love about Ms. Schaler’s stories. There is indeed a sweet romance in these pages, but I won’t spoil who it is with, and how. Just know that I loved it, and I may just end up rereading this one again this year since we have a few months until Christmas. Fans of Christmas stories and Hallmark movies will love this one! I received this book for free from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Upon arrival Riley is a swanky city girl with the clothes to match so being thrown into the mountains with leather pants isn't exactly ideal.. Like who runs the lodge is the man who has made an event called christmas camp and Riley is in the epicentre of it for all her book lovers. Riley doesn't have a special man in her life but three men turn up wanting her. Can she find love with these three men? Read on. Before she came to christmad camp, riley hated christmad and whilst she's here she's learning to enjoy certain fun activities such as snow angels and snowshoeing as Luke has shown her. There's a beautiful dog called comet who everyone loves as well. As riley behins to learn new traditions shes also learning new things about herself and what she's missing. One tril she didnt ever want to go on was one in the mountains and it turns out shes loved every minute of it, shes meet other book lovers, new friends and ex boyfriends but can she heal her heart at christmas? The descriptiveness in This story is simply amazing. I loved the character and warmed to Riley quite soon. I started the book and you are party to the haplenings very soon. Loved the pace and I just loved it. New favourite author. Curl up with a cinnamon hot cocoa. And enjoy.

Christmas Ever After by Karen Schaler is the second Christmas-themed story that I have read from this author, and I must say that even from this small sampling, Ms Schaler can certainly bring the holiday spirit, even on a grey and drizzly day in October. Riley is a highly successful romance author but her last book seemed to lack a personal quality, causing it to be panned by critics. Riley has always drawn on her past relationships to create the romantic idyll that her readers have come to expect. When she accidentally admits during a live television interview that a great love from her past has inspired her novels, three former boyfriends converge unannounced at a Christmas Camp that Riley is hosting for her fans, each believing themselves to be Riley's one true love. Adding to the confusion, Riley finds herself undeniably attracted to her co-host at the event, the owner of the Christmas Lake Lodge. Will she embrace the Christmas experience, and find true love at last? This is a light and heartwarming read that is perfect for curling up with in front of the fire. Ms Schaler has created endearing characters and an atmospheric read that will be as difficult to resist as Christmas cookies. Many thanks to NetGalley and HawkTale Publishing for this ARC.

People were singing Christmas songs, different Christmas songs, all at the same time, in exuberant, joyful voices. There was “Joy to the World,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” “What in the world . . .” Riley said as she stepped out of the hotel elevator into the lavish lobby of the Royal Grand Central Park, one of New York City’s finest hotels, and found more than a hundred high-spirited Christmas carolers. They were all wearing elaborate, vintage Victorian costumes and passionately singing as if their entry onto Santa’s Nice List depended on it. Premise/plot: Riley Reynolds is a romance author who hates Christmas and is currently not living her 'happily ever after.' After her summer romance flops--at least from a publishing standpoint--her publishers strongly encourage her to write a Christmas romance instead. The problem, as I briefly mentioned, is that she does not celebrate Christmas--not since her dad died when she was eight. But she'll do her part to keep her job: play co-host at a weekend author event at a small lodge--Christmas Lake Lodge. Her co-host is the Christmas-loving, Luke, who is selling the lodge after Christmas. He wants the lodge to have one last hurrah before it closes forever. Sound like a typical Christmas movie? Perhaps. But this isn't a bland Christmas movie, throw in a dash or two of MAMMA MIA and The Bachelorette. Before Christmas Camp begins, she does a television interview leading viewers to believe that there was one true love that got away that has inspired her novels... My thoughts: I definitely loved this one. For the record, I don't have a problem with incredibly predictable, ultimately sweet Christmas-themed romantic comedies. In fact, I find them often more lovely than not. I AM the target audience of this one. For those that are curious, this one is what I would consider clean or clean-ish. There is some kissing, not much else. Anything that might have happened in the past with her former boyfriends--stays in the past and off screen.

It’s about an author who is promoting her next novel, a Christmas love story. She is holding a huge even called Christmas Camp to help promote her book. But chaos ensues when three of her ex boyfriend show up at the camp to win her back! This story is being pitched as “ Mama Mia meets The Bachelor” and it is spot on! First let me say that I am a HUGE Christmas/ holiday lover. I have always loved Christmas, but I think after I had my daughter the holidays became even more magical to me. One of my favorite holiday traditions is watching those cheesy Hallmark movies. Is the acting not the greatest? Yes. Are they super predictable? Yes. Do I still watch every single one and love it!? YES. Lol! Sometimes when life is crazy you just need a feel good hallmark movie. And that’s what this book is. Pretty much reads like a Hallmark movie. So cute! I would definitely recommend it during the holidays. Perfect book to cozy up with by the fire and get you in the holiday spirit. And one thing I especially loved was at the end the author shares some of the recipes featured in this book and has fun Christmas crafts and activities as well. What a special touch! Karen does wonders with a Christmas story every year for last 2 years been looking forward to her books. This had simular plot of Christmas camp with different aspects at times but after some same story line turned into its own but still good just not as good as other books. Her books can easily get you in the mood for the holidays so always suggest them plus the dogs are always cute in the story. 4.5/5.

I love Christmas themed books. Especially when I need a boost. This book was perfect. The characters were well developed. The setting was magical. Comet was a great addition. A real love story. No sex. Riley learns to embrace her past and rediscover Christmas. I loved the traditions, the recipes, and the crazy sweaters. Need a lift? This might help. Thanks, Netgalley!

I won this Kindle book in a giveaway and am pleased to give it three stars. This is clean with no cursing, no sexual descriptions, and no violence. The story is how she deals with Christmas and her fans AND all three ex-boyfriends. Two things disappointed me. There are several times when a word is missing from a sentence, and the sentence doesn't make sense. You may still like the book.

CHRISTMAS EVER AFTER is the epitome of the holiday romcom novel.  Karen Schaler has give us the cozy Christmas feels once again and she nails it. Riley is the frustratingly quirky and adorable lead character with all the drama that we love to read about. She has a supporting cast that is easy to fall in love with bringing their own drama to the story as well. The Christmas Camp festivities at the lodge gives you all the “feelies” you’re looking for, making you want to pack your bag and head there yourself, and the heartwarming and sweet ending lets you close the book smiling. I will always read anything Karen Schaler writes, because she makes me feel like everything is right in the world, at least when I’m reading. This is a 5 star read and I highly recommend it and all of Karen’s Christmas books.

It’s a total immersion into the holiday season for guests enrolled in the “camp” (it’s usually a warm inviting Inn). Having written two previous books in the Christmas camp series, Karen Schaler brings us to a new holiday destination full of all the Christmas joy we’ve come to expect. Riley Reynolds is a journalist turned romance writer. She’s had success with several books already and has quite a fan base. Unfortunately, her last romance novel was lacking the romance - likely indicative of a challenged love life. Now she is faced with a task of writing a Christmas novel: a very difficult challenge given that she has not celebrated the holiday since she was eight years due to the death of her father. As a publicity stunt, Riley has been instructed to host a Christmas Camp at the Inn run by her publicist’s friend Luke who needs the media attention in order to sell the Inn. The guests of the camp are there because they are fans of her books. Riley reluctantly agrees - she really has no choice since her publisher demands it. What she doesn’t know is that three of her longer term boyfriends will also be there, each trying to charm Riley back into their lives. Will Riley find the inspiration for her new book at Christmas Camp? I really enjoyed this book. It’s full of Christmas goodness with all the hot chocolate, cookies, and romance one comes to expect from a holiday book. Riley’s character is well-developed and it’s wonderful to watch her grow from a woman trying to ignore the holiday due to personal loss, to someone embracing it and ready to make new memories. I loved all the Christmas activities and the fact the author highlights green initiatives and community good will in this book. As one would expect, the book is somewhat predictable but I’m perfectly fine with this. In this world full of chaos, at least I can count on the predictability of a great holiday book. Thanks to Netgalley and Hawktale Publishing for the ARC of this book in exchange for the honest review provided here. Christmas Ever After publishes on September 29.

The main character, author Riley Reynolds last novel was met with negative reviews and she ends up having to commit to writing a Christmas book for her next novel. For much needed good publicity and ideas for her upcoming book, she has to commit to being a co-host to a weekend Christmas Camp at a beautiful Lodge that goes all out for the holiday! It wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't for the fact that Riley hasn't celebrated Christmas in years. Luke, whose family owns the lodge, gets off on the wrong foot with Riley, after a tv interview goes awry, which makes for a rough start for the two of them. Not only does the interview cause trouble for Luke and Riley, it also brings three of Riley's ex-boyfriends to the Christmas Camp, all with the intention of winning her back. All of which makes for a fun, laugh out loud story! If you haven't guessed already, Riley and Luke might just make some special holiday memories themselves! I loved it! Thank you to @netgalley for sending me an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #ChristmasEverAfter #NetGalley

Riley Reynolds is a romance novelist with a loyal following. Her last book though, wasn't as popular as her previous ones and her new publicist thinks the answer is a Christmas romance. She hasn't shared this though as it's because of painful memories. To help her get in the spirit a Christmas Camp is arranged at a lodge in the Rocky Mountains for a select group of her fans. But Riley is panicking because she has no holiday memories to share, no family traditions to bring to the weekend. Fortunately the owner of the lodge is full of seasonal spirit and helps. In addition to her readers coming to the Camp some of her old boyfriend get wind of it and that makes for some entertaining and fun times. This novel is a delightful distraction from the everyday. It's full of perfect snowfalls, beautiful people and ugly Christmas sweaters. It's a Hallmark movie in book form and that should not surprise as the author has written holiday movies for Hallmark, Netflix and Lifetime. I found it to be an uncomplicated, wonderful way to spend an afternoon which was just what I needed after processing way too many pounds of tomatoes to count. It is wonderfully escapist reading.  There are two recipes in the back - one for cookies, one for buns and several for crafts.

Christmas Ever After was a enjoyable read, Riley doesn't do Christmas so this book was fun to read. How can a author write a Christmas book, when she doesn't celebrate the holiday. The setting of the book was lovely, and the characters were fun to get to know. I would recommend this book to others. I received a ARC from NetGalley and HawkTale Publisher and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review, all opinions expressed here are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review! 4.5/5 I adored this book! I am that Christmas obsessed person listening to holiday music year round, with an ugly sweater in the making. I loved Schaler's earlier novel, Christmas Camp, and Christmas Ever After does not disappoint. Riley is an interesting character; like many characters in holiday books, she is in the "no-Christmas" camp. However, Schaler doesn't harp on this, and it isn't a negative at all. It works well as a framing device to introduce us as readers to the lodge's traditions. The only slight detractor is that Riley's past romantic interests kind of dominate the second half of the book- I would have loved if more time was spent on the Christmas camp activities.

Simply amazing. As I was reading this it was like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie. The Christmas imagery was simply stunning and so easy to picture. The book flowed so well that I finished it in a day and a half. The heart and Christmas spirit in this story is out of this world. From the Christmas miracle at the start of the book with Santa driving the cab, to the perfect timing and insight of Comet the dog, always in the right place at the right time. Reading about some wonderful people who genuinely loved Christmas, and not just the commercial giving of expensive gifts was lovely and made me wish I was sharing it with them. I want to inject some of this Christmas spirit and love into my family Christmas this year.

Well this is definitely a 5-star Christmas themed read, which is really nice as often so-called Christmas books aren't really that Christmassy - not this one, this one is full-on Christmas, with snow, Christmas trees, a Christmas lodge, snowball fights, etc. etc.  It really gets you into a Christmas mood! Bestselling author, Riley Reynolds, writes romances but her last book didn't sell very well and she is now supposed to be writing a Christmas novel, but she hasn't celebrated Christmas for years, so writing the story and trying to hide the fact that she isn't actually 'Miss Christmas' proves hard initially. Her publisher comes up with an idea to host a 'Christmas Camp' at the beautiful Christmas Lodge, helping both the owner's son, Luke, to have a last Christmas celebration at the lodge before they sell it, and helping Riley to get ideas for her new novel from the people who have paid to see Riley and be at the Christmas Camp. But after an awkward TV interview where Riley is questioned about how she can write romance novels when she hasn't found 'the one' herself, three of her ex-boyfriends turn up at the Christmas Camp hoping to win her back with various dates, which she agrees to. But Luke is the one that Riley keeps thinking about and as the story goes along, and her feelings for Christmas change, she sorts out her feelings for all her ex-boyfriends, and of course Luke. An easy-reading, very enjoyable and romantic Christmassy book to get you in the mood for Christmas.  It would make a perfect Christmas movie!

I really love where she returns presents from exes and explains why they are important to her and by she can not have her happy ever after with them. It reminds me of The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy is saying good bye to her friends. A feel good story that will lift your spirit ~

Romance author Riley Reynolds, is not Miss Christmas, but after being forced by her publishing team to do a disastrous TV interview and and Christmas [Boot] Camp.
