Lovely Set of Calming Qigong Exercises As a massage practitioner back before the turn of the millennium, I learned some qigong as a part of massage training and in my reflexology class. Even though this took place decades ago, I still remember the way my feet felt after doing qigong. So I was curious about this book when I saw it at one of my favorite book review sites. While I can't say for certain whether this book will help you open your heart and free your energy as promised in the title, I d Lovely Set of Calming Qigong Exercises As a massage practitioner back before the turn of the millennium, I learned some qigong as a part of massage training and in my reflexology class. Even though this took place decades ago, I still remember the way my feet felt after doing qigong. So I was curious about this book when I saw it at one of my favorite book review sites. While I can't say for certain whether this book will help you open your heart and free your energy as promised in the title, I did like the eight simple qigong exercises included in this book. The author framed the importance of these particular exercises within the broader sense of what qigong can offer us and then introduces them in a particular order that reflects how it can benefit us. Each exercise has multiple photographs so you can see precisely what to do, though—as is typical of many qigong exercises—the physical motion is not great in most exercises; rather, the benefit comes from small focused movements, intent, and breathing. If you're looking for a book that will tell you everything you need to know about qigong, you won't find it here. But you will find a very nice set of 8 well-explained qigong exercises and can help you be more calm in body, mind, and spirit. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
