DESCRIPTION Why is it referred to as "Cold-Worked"? Because to make this particular chain link, you don't need to use heat, soldering or torches. Making chain by hand is not for everyone, just like knitting a scarf or sweater can be pure bliss or torture depending on your personality. Personally I find making chain meditative and if you think you will too, this lesson is for you! Students should be ready to think critically and have an eye for detail; a professional chain has closed and even loop sizes. They should not snag in clothing or hair. This lesson will focus on the techniques involved in making a smooth, functional, beautiful chain using a minimum of tools. What's so great about learning how to make this chain? It is the quintessential, simple chain that can accommodate any pendant. There are so many times when I've needed just a little bit of chain to finish a project. Rather than go through the hassle of finding one, ordering it, waiting for it and paying the extra shipping/handling charges, I can whip out 16 inches in one hour. OK, I'm fast 'cause I've been making these sine 1982. But I also find it relaxing. What better excuse for sitting still and listening to a radio program, podcast or TV for an hour! NUMBER OF PAGES: 38 CHAPTERS Introduction, Tool Talk and Materials Matter Chatter, Concepts, Technique, Gallery and Inspiration. WRITING STYLE I write like I talk to my students in the classroom. Part step-by-step. Part stories that create a context for learning new concepts. I've also been told I have a wry sense of humor. Order it here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/80744829...
