"Outside Of Town" by Ron Ripley: I wasn't sure at first if I liked the outcome of this story. As I pondered on it, I decided that the portion that concerned me (the abandoned house) actually was pretty seamless, so although the ending did surprise me by its particular specificity, it fit with the house's own expressed nature [and make no mistake: the House is a Character]. "A Peculiar Song" by Bronson Carey: Unnerving--maximally Unnerving. This tale crept up on me all unawares, then knock-out! "A Peculiar Song" by Bronson Carey: Unnerving--maximally Unnerving. This tale crept up on me all unawares, then knock-out! The horror is implacable, as the best horror always is. Shudder. Warning: nightmares approaching, fast. "Scouting" by Ron Ripley: I love the existence of Nature; but I don't trust the Outdoors. Nor would I consider camping. I was only a few paragraphs into this story and I was ready to scream, beg, and plead: "DON'T CAMP THERE!!" I don't camp, but that never prevents the Nightmares....

Scare Street has done it again with three stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Each of these stories has just enough scare in them to bring you back wanting more. Ron Ripley does some of his best writing, and yet he continues to only get better with each book that comes along. Don't miss these great shorts! The stories are: Outside of Town A Peculiar Song Scouting

The quality of the offerings in these short story collections never diminishes. This volume is no exception. Each volume seems to have a theme and the theme with Volume 21 is locations. A house in the first story by the always excellent Ron Ripley has its own particular, and peculiar, personality. A Peculiar Song by Bronson Carey has a definite Steven King flavor. I could have used a far longer version of this one. Finally, Ron Ripley scares us nearly to death once again as a troop of Boy Scouts camp in a woods that harbors more than just squirrels and racoons, as the troop finds out to its collective horror. I never tire of reading these great stories. The imaginations of these authors are awesome. I hope their wells of creativity never dry up.

Outside of Town was awesome, but beware that when you go somewhere that is not known to you, or even your own house, strange and wild things can happen. A Peculiar Song was ok, but not a favorite this time around. it was a little boring and seemed to drag on and on. Scouting was really good too, but beware of the scary stories you choose to tell while out camping!
