Not a bad read generally enjoyed it would have been less enamoured if I'd paid the full amount for each book in the set. Some good ideas, nice to have most of the aliens friendly for once. It just got a bit repetitive especially the space combat scenes. The main story is over in the first six books, and the seventh takes it in a new direction but the author seems then to have had enough and rather rapidly ends the series with a frustrating everything is now going to be wonderful ending. Would have liked to have seen more of the main characters doing some of the actual exploration they originally planned.

I downloaded this for "free" as part of Amazon's Kindle Unlimited availability. I have enjoyed other large space opera series such as the Vorkosigan series and military sci-fi such as Jack Campbell's Lost series, both of which I highly enjoyed. I read all of book 1 of the Legacy War and never felt a connection to the characters or that interested in the action. The characters seemed flat and plain with no personality or history. I chose not to read the rest of the series.

Unready, untried, under armed, humanity and the crew of earth first star ship are thrown into the breach. The starship Gnosis do the first test of FTL ENGINES, going to the orbit of Pluto. To discover Earth is under attack of aliens. This is a great yarn of people struggling to understand a galaxy we had no idea existed. Lots of action, suspense, drama and good ole fashion ( lets get done)! Definitely a great read.

Entertaining, interesting tech Enjoyed the series but was definitely thinking it could use some proofreading and editing. ie: smiles happen way more often than smirks, incomplete sentences, missing punctuation, odd word choices all of which detracted from fully enjoying the reading. I would still read other books by this author and hope to find them better edited.

I really wanted to give these novels a better rating. The action was engrossing and got me through all 9 books. However they are sorely in need of a good editor/proofreader. From missing words to words out of place, and don't get me started on the overuse and misuse of the word smirk instead of smile. Good deal for what I paid! Very enjoyable set of books. They could ALMOST stand alone as individual books. Only suggestion is for the author to look up the definition of "smirk". I don't think it means what you think it means. But, that aside, I found myself staying up pretty late reading. Good deal for what I paid! Very enjoyable set of books. Decent writing but lots of errors, extra words, left out words, and words used in the wrong context. It made reading the detailed scenes a little aggravating. The long story line was nice though. There were a lot of battle scenes which is to be expected in a military saga.

Enjoyable read and captivating characters I like science fiction where the people are realistic with many facets to their lives. Military action painted very vivid encounters make it conceivable, eve to Retired Military readers.
Richard T. Kotomori –
A great series Action packed space warfare series with interesting characters and entertaining episodes. I read the box series and enjoyed the development of the characters as well as the interesting themes in each book. Good reading during the pandemic.

Not terrible Not a bad adventure series. There are quite a few editing mistakes, improper punctuation , exrta words in sentences , etc. If you can overlook that its a decent easy distraction from reality.

Life in The future? A story well worth reading . From the first page I found it very hard to put down. John Walker is most certainly an author to follow.
