Not completely bad This wasn’t a bad series, in fact there is a lot of potential, however because of this potential and the lack of a follow through I had to give it a two star rating. First of all this book needs to be re-edited, for being a book with shorter stories it was frustrating having to read stories riddled with typos, and grammatical errors. Second, there really was not a lot of development within the story that it became a little confusing at what all was going on. First of all this book needs to be re-edited, for being a book with shorter stories it was frustrating having to read stories riddled with typos, and grammatical errors. Second, there really was not a lot of development within the story that it became a little confusing at what all was going on. For example, I didn’t understand and after reading I’m still unclear as to why in the first book the guy medicated his wife? Something about making her docile? But at the same time it never delved into it. And weren’t those characters fated mates, so why wouldn’t that guy accept his mate as she is? The whole thing with fated mates was being your soul mate and you would “do whatever for your mate”. I mean that’s a major plot line for it to not really be explained. And now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t explained until the second Book and even then, it wasn’t really explained. Same thing for the third book, it never really dove into why the beta was tracking her. He was apparently sick, and thought she could heal him? I still don’t really understand. It just seemed that some of the key components/plot lines weren’t really developed or fully discussed which made the reads a bit confusing. For me, that was the major deal breaker. The characters were fine, nothing super, but it was a complete disservice that major plot points didn’t make sense and cascaded through each of the book’s series, add in that there were grammatical errors and it makes owning the book ( free in KU thank god) probably irritating.

Real Men Howl - 3 Stars Mason is the Alpha of the Blackwood pack. He is on the edge of going feral because he hasn’t found his mate. Lucy grew up in the town, but moved away after her parents were killed. She came back to town because of something that happened at work and is bitten by a pup after saving him from getting hit by a car. This was a short read. It would have been nice to have more background on the pack as a whole. The whole going feral if you don’t find your mate thing is a little weird. Mason was a little high handed when they met. I liked Charlie, the pup that bit Lucy because he was scared. I did like the story as a whole and look forward to reading more about this pack. Real Men Snarl - 4 Stars Ally was changed into a wolf against her will while she was at college her Freshman year. She has been moving around for eight years trying to avoid being captured by the one who changed her. Kade was ordered by Mason, his alpha and brother, to go to Pepper, Georgia and bring Lucy's Grandmother back to Ashwood to live with them. You read about Lucy in book one. She is Mason's mate and also best friend's with Ally. This was a good romance with a little action thrown in. I loved Ally's character. She is a strong woman to be able to go through what she did and not turn feral. I also liked Kade. He was patient and didn't push Ally to be his mate. I did have a little problem with how things went down though! Kade let something happen to his female out of stupidity. Seriously, if your female is in trouble, you don't leave her alone with no one to guard her! Except for that part of the story, I enjoyed it. Real Men Growl - 4 Stars Gavin was sent to Burrman, Georgia by the National Ruling Council to help the remaining members of the Riverson pack relocate to healthy packs. The Alpha of the Riverson pack, Brian, was in custody and awaiting trial for crimes against his pack. Rachel Fields is the niece of the previous Alpha before Brian murdered him. She has been taking care of her nephew, as her own, for the last six years. Now that Brian is gone, she just wants to live her life with her nephew away from a pack. Things don’t always work out like you want them too. I enjoyed reading this one, but was a little disappointed about not hearing how the trial went and the outcome. I liked Gavin with Rachel and little Eric and how patient he was with them. Real Men Heal - 3 Stars This is a quick read. The blurb is a little different than what actually happens in the book. Drew agrees to help Zeke, Chloe’s brother, before he even meets her. He agrees to help because of the drug that was used on their mother. It also says, “the alpha who snatched him just happens to be Chloe's over-protective big brother”. Well if he was that over-protective he wouldn’t have left Drew in her house alone with her. I liked knowing Drew’s story, but there’s just something missing. It was all too neat and tidy with how everything happened. And really, during the twenty years their mother was comatose Drew is the only one who thought about how to cure her? It says in the book, “Trina Edgecomb—sister to Warren, the pack beta. She was whip smart and had cared for Zeke and Chloe’s comatose mother for years. Drew couldn’t think of a better person to assist him with the case.” Well if she was so “whip smart” she could have figured it out with how easy it was to come up with a solution! I actually rolled my eyes when I read what happened with their mother. It was supposed to be emotional, but for me it just wasn’t. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of the bundle.

The first 3 books in the Real Men Shift series - the Blackwood pack story arc (yes, book 4, Real Men Heal does star Drew, the Blackwood healer, but it also introduces the Soren pack, so it's kinda the bridge between the two halves of the series). While the stories themselves are pretty straightforward shifter romances, I enjoyed the little bit of a different take on how some of these romances came about. A bit weaker on the details and continuity, though, especially between books. While the stories themselves are pretty straightforward shifter romances, I enjoyed the little bit of a different take on how some of these romances came about. A bit weaker on the details and continuity, though, especially between books. Overall, a fun and fairly fluffy series, making for some enjoyable quick afternoon reads. As a whole I liked it, but again as a whole, it wasn't quite strong enough for 4 stars. 3+ for the boxed collection. Real Men Howl 3 stars The Blackwood Alpha's story. When Lucy is accidentally bitten by a small child, she finds herself the subject of a lot of attention from Mason Blackwood, a local community figure. Which might be flattering, except he and the people he lives near all seem to think they're werewolves! The first in the series, setting up a lot of the world these stories are in, which meant the characters were a little underdeveloped in comparison to the actual world. Mason ended up being a touch too alpha at times, but Lucy in general was too sassy and sarcastic to be really likable. While not a miserable h, she wasn't one of my favorites. Real Men Snarl 4 stars The Blackwood Beta's story. Ally is a werewolf who doesn't want to have anything to do with werewolves, which is unfortunate when Kade Blackwood recognizes her as his mate. I liked the angle in this one - a werewolf who doesn't know anything about being a werewolf and really doesn't want to be one anyways. Yes, there's still the shifter insta-love, but there's a lot of trying to build trust between the mates and with the pack too. My favorite of the series so far. Real Men Growl Rounded up to 3 stars The Blackwood Enforcer's story. Gavin Blackwood has been sent to help relocated the remnants of an abused pack, but finds his mate there, determined to remain independent. I liked Gavin as a character, but the story as a whole was a bit flat. We had more of the same villains from the previous stories, but not really adding anything to it. It was saccharine-sweet with the love for the kid and family and whatnot. And I get the hs in the first two books resisting the irresistible mate bond, but Rachel was a born wolf! Felt a bit forced. While not a bad read - still a fun escape - it just felt a bit weaker than the other two.

Three fairly uninspired stories with none of the humour of Celia Kyles earlier works. Real Men Howl: A lot of porn, but otherwise a sweet shifter story. Real Men Snarl: Pretty uninspired. Real Men Growl: Sweet, with a bit too much 'Family is bliss' for my tastes. Three fairly uninspired stories with none of the humour of Celia Kyles earlier works.
