A Very Opal Halloween

A Gemstone Coven Halloween Tale I'll probably live to regret it, but I've given Nancy permission to hold a huge Halloween bash here at the farmhouse. If nothing else, maybe it will distract me from what I have planned for after it. A seance. I'm making an ultra-long distance call to my mom. She has something I want, dang it. Something she didn't pass on to me b A Gemstone Coven Halloween Tale I'll probably live to regret it, but I've given Nancy permission to hold a huge Halloween bash here at the farmhouse. Something she didn't pass on to me before she left this world. The others are trying to guess what it is I want to ask her. They'll never get it in a million years. Of course, there's no reason not to tell them. But where's the fun in that? A Very Opal Halloween is an 8,000 word short story taking place in the Accidental Familiar Series starring the Gemstone Coven Witches and their familiars. This story takes place after book three, Un-Familiar Magic, but can be read as a stand-alone story. No murder, no crime, just family and a good tale. Just why did Opal want to contact her mom, anyway?

This book is exactly what it says it is. No murder, no crime, just family and a good tale in which the characters just happen to be witches. A touching short story that includes adoption and a birth.

This story was such a fun surprise. It gives great insight to Opal, and I’m loving how the new characters are getting mixed into the story. This was really just a sweet and fast read.

Yay! This little gem will probably be one of my favorite Halloween tales. In the short story, Opal shows a much younger side to her character. I like the way the story (series) is moving forward. BRAVO!

Nice Short Read It was wonderful to read about the Ravenswinds some more. I really enjoyed this. However, I wish it was a tad longer. Also, I think the name Nancy was used in one sentence when it should have been Kimberly... But maybe I misread.

Really Good Short Story This short story shared a lot of insight into Opal. She seems like a hard woman but underneath that all she is just a normal woman who feels like she needs to be strong for her family.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This was good as a short story! It made me get the new book by her. But it says that her moving in Kimberly was not a long term solution. In the Book she moves her in! And it never says for sure Why she wants a seance. You just sort of guess!

What a joy to come across such a well written paranormal tale! The story is an intriguing introduction to a series I plan to enjoy more of. Even in a short story, the characters are well rounded and complex, and the story complex.

Loved it I love reading anything witchy and this short read was perfect. A bit of mystery, love, loss, and of course family. I had to read it in one sitting not because it was short but because I couldn't stop, it was that good. Loved it I love reading anything witchy and this short read was perfect. After reading the first three books in Belinda White’s Accidental Familiar Series, I was intrigued by this story, plus what makes this book even better is that you get to peek into Opal’s mind… Whilst this is a short book, it’s well worth the read because Opal is a very interesting character and over the first three books in the Accidental Familiar Series, you never know what’s going through her mind and it’s interesting seeing how things play out. Opal’s a mysterious character and I think Belinda captured her character perfectly, I honestly couldn’t have imagined her any other way than how Belinda has described her. I enjoyed this book even with it being a short and I can’t wait to see what happens in the last book of the Accidental Familiar Series, I honestly couldn’t fault this at all. I would recommend that you give this a read as it’s well worth it, plus if you do make sure you read the first three books in the Accidental Familiar series and then pick this one up before jumping back over into the other series. Opal took in Nancy back when it was discovered her father was murdered, but whilst that’s a sad thing, it was also a good thing because he had been abusing her. Now that she’s in the hands on Opal, things are a lot more different and more happier for Nancy. All that Opal is waiting on is for the courts to sign over Nancy into her care full time. However they seem to be taking a while, but with Halloween arising, Opal has something planned, but little does she realise that the Goddess has other plans for her, will Opal be there to have her Halloween bash and Séance, or is there something else going on?

Amazon:       ?  Title:  Mini CozyMystery/Witch series prequel and following four books: Book 0: Nothing like having a strike against you when hunting for work. Especially when for you the major reason is your last name. So hunting for yet another job after losing the last one , you chuck everything to the curb and do something that s radically different. At least, with just a quick one time stretch of being a bounty hunter, she both finds her quarry and comes up with a job prospect that can keep her busy for years to come. Even though this was a short prequel to the series. This series has ‪the promise‬ of being both a refreshing, humorous, fun loving and light hearted witchy reading. Now! Now we get into the story :) Each of the books is a cozy mystery. I wish I could say to read each of the reviews, except that when I got done with Book 1, I immediately started Book 2, which led straight to Book 3. I know I should ve done at least Books 1 through 3. However Book 4 was being released in just two days, and, well, mentally I didn t want to leave this universe. It s s peaceful here, and I haven t had a vacation in quite some time. Sooo , I stuck around for a while. Book 1 starts with Amie capturing someone who should ve been more careful -I guess as time passes some forget the basic guides of life- especially those oldies but goodies: "All men are created equal.” Sam Colt just just clarified the lines of that equality. And “It s not the size I the dog in a fight, but rather the size of the fight in the dog!" Amie might not have been getting a monetary value for the opening scene, but she received something that she needed far more. And proved that she can look beyond the appearance of an item, much to the dismay of her hometown. By the end of Book 1 and starting Book 2, the ending of one flowed into the start of Book 2, and the mental movie flowed right on! Book 2 starts with the official introduction of a Cat. This is a very special Cat, likely because he ll likely be part of the team to grant Opal s request for grandkids. By the end of Book 2, we can see why that can be a very good deal. Opal needs some rug-rats underfoot (IMO), they should balance the two older sisters out. The start of Book 3 let s us know just how special Amie truly is. We also learn more about the Deities < not that this should be a surprise to anyone > while demonstrating the capabilities of the Gods to have a sense of humor, as well as a warped style of justice. Now that the characters are gelling into a cohesive unit, this is now starting to make me antsy for the next book(s). Number 4 was both a good interim, as well as too short to be an interim book. I m guessing that the author will be taking All Hallow s Eve off  as it should be, in order to celebrate it correctly. Like I stated earlier, I stuck around for Book 4, for the chance of prolonging my visitation to this well put together universe. I m glad that I did, this book is a beautiful introduction to the All Hallow s Eve celebration. Even though Book 4 is a short novella and it doesn t include the recipe for that oh so wonderful be-witching brew/potion, there s always a chance that this will be done later on in this series. Will she ever be able to get the answer?

Warm and Cozy It is as succinct as a short story can get. There’s no reposition of the theme. It’s very straightforward. And since the story is told in the characters head all questions are neatly answered. I enjoyed this very much.

Very short add-on story This book technically comes after the first three books of the Familiar series, and is quite shirt but just adds some extra details to the story. This story is written from Opals point of view so it is different than the first three books that came from Amies point of view. It also adds a little detail to Opal and Orville's story. Short and sweet This ‘between the books’ novella sits between books three and four of the accidental familiars series, and is told from Amie’s Aunt Opal’s point of view. It adds some interesting characters, and ties up some loose ends from book three, before setting up ready for book four. A quick read.
