Well, this book didn't last long, did it? Cancelled after only ten issues... sigh. Anyway, Kelly Thompson brings the laughs, the monsters, the Elsa Bloodstone and, most importantly, the Jeff. A shame about the derailment of the final issue and the unnecessary but obligatory King in Black crossover, but whattayagonnado, right? I am still highly allergic to Gerardo Sandoval's artwork, though, I'm afraid. Too cartoony and graffiti-inspired for my tastes. I'd give the story 4 stars for issues seven through nine, 3 stars for issue ten, and the artwork 2 stars throughout. That's a slightly convoluted sum but I'm guessing that averages out as a 3 star rating overall. My next book: Werewolf By Night vol. 1: New Wolf Rising

King Deadpool sets out to save some kids from a monster - but Elsa Bloodstone might not be entirely on the up and up about why. Plus, a King In Black tie-in - Deadpool vs. dragons! God, I hate that this is so good. Kelly Thompson strikes again, with snappy dialogue, a story with a big heart buried under the goo monsters, and some hilarious jokes along the way. Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone are perfect foils for each other, both morally grey and good at murder - what else do you need? Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone are perfect foils for each other, both morally grey and good at murder - what else do you need? Oh, and Jeff the Land Shark being adorable, because of course. Oh, and there's also a Dawn Of X tie-in where Deadpool tries to crash Krakoa which goes about as well as you'd expect. I love how Thompson handles Wade's relationship with the X-Men here; he's always there when they need him, but when he needs them, they toss him aside, so he's...pissed. The fact that the King In Black tie-in manages to tie into the event, serve as a series finale, AND tie up the loose ends from the first few issues of the book is just insane. The page count's a little higher, but the issue pulls triple duty and does it all really well. Unbelievable. On art for the Krakoa issue is fill-in artist extraordinaire Kevin Libranda, while Gerardo Sandoval pops in for the final four issues; he's like Chris Bachalo if Chris Bachalo's art wasn't all tentacles, or like Humberto Ramos if Humberto Ramos didn't draw everyone like they're made of spaghetti. He's great, is what I'm getting at, and he fits the subject matter (big scary monsters) perfectly. Alas, King Deadpool, we knew ye well. The final five issues of this series are just as impressive as the first, with a fitting artist and a writer who captures Deadpool's voice perfectly. Another casualty, and another shame.

The series I enjoy keep getting canceled. Deadpool is king--dysfunctional but capable. He fights bone monsters and world-ending beasts as the end of his series closes in. With Thompson's snappy writing and the character's trademark blend of heroism and obnoxious self-gratification, it's a fun ride from start to finish. The supporting cast of King Deadpool has some great characters I hope will come back in later entries. Plus, there's Jeff the landshark. Who doesn't love Jeff the landshark? Fun and thrilling, with great art and Deadpool flair, this was good fun and I'm curious to see what's in store next for the character.

Again, I feel that Deadpool needs a less wacky supporting cast to play off of. He’s practically the straight man in this series.

Es una pena que se haya terminado porque el ritmo y los personajes estaban muy bien, pero la premisa venía herida de muerte desde el arco anterior.

Loved the story with Elsa but the King in Black tie-in didn’t do much for me.

Just found out this series got cancelled (I thought the stuff in the last issue was irony!), which is a shame. They better keep Jeff in the next Deadpool series!

I enjoyed this series and thought for it being rushed to a cancel that they tied it up best it could be. Wish it was still going on though.
