Cassandra Jean's beautiful illustrations have become an iconic part of the Shadowhunter world. I loved this little collection of reimagined fairy tales! It was interesting to see a modern spin on them and put some of my favorite characters in the roles of classic story book characters!

This review may contain SPOILERS! I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I really enjoyed the fact that Cassandra Clare and Cassandra Jean collaborated to curate this edition of a "fairytale retelling"-esque book. I was a bit disappointed that these weren't fully fledged tales, but rather small quotes with a character art of the respective fairytale and the characters that matched the fairytale according to Cassie. It is a nice edition as a Shadowhunter-fan, such as myself, but essentially this gives little written content, and is more of a collectors addition or piece in my opinion. I still loved the artwork and the thoughts behind the reasoning of who to pick for which fairytale ... so that was brilliant! 3.5/5 stars

and all the stories are beautiful ♡

Fun take with the Shadowhunter characters and comparing them to fairytales. Gorgeous pictures as well.

I'll be honest, this book wasn't quite what I was expecting. I thought we would be receiving full story/excerpts of the reimaginings, instead it's just a line or two about the characters in that setting—a caption, their names and the story they're set in—but the art is definitely BEYOND gorgeous. 😍 I love Cassandra Jean's style so it's nice to have as a collectible. Overall, it was touching and sweet, although I wish it had just the tad bit more substance in writing. I'll be honest, this book wasn't quite what I was expecting. i was incredibly excited when i heard about this book and preordered it immediately, but i was a bit disappointed with the final product. the illustrations were beautiful, and it is a nice collectors item, but there was very little actually storytelling, only brief story snippets reworked into the shadowhunter world. i think it would have been much better had we gotten full fairytales, or maybe even just a page of the story rather than a single sentence.

This tales in book format arrived yesterday thanks to the store of Hebel Design and I am in love. Buy this book in hardback and with great quality, is super worthy for any Shadowhunters fan! My favs, obviously, Wessa, Clace and Jordelia! My fav couples ever! P.D: no one draws better the Shadowhunters characters as Cassandra Jean does! ♥️

Lovely images and quotes! They are perfect and the reimagined stories have the best characters chosen!

Listen, the art in this is gorgeous as always with Cassandra Jean's work. It also looks great on my shelf with the rest of the Shadowhunter books. But I will admit that I was somewhat disappointed. When I found out about the upcoming release of this work, I thought I was gonna get the actual fairytales but changed to add the Shadowhunters' characters. Instead what I got, were some (brilliant) pictures and one to max. two sentences, accompanying each page. It IS beautiful, but I am a tad sad beca Listen, the art in this is gorgeous as always with Cassandra Jean's work. It also looks great on my shelf with the rest of the Shadowhunter books. I absolutely adored this book! The illustrations are so pretty and the reasoning behind which characters where chooses for which book is really clever. The only downside, as other review commented, is the fact that the illustrations are only accompanied by a short quote, rather diving a into the story; I wasn’t expecting a thick book mind you, considering Cassandra Clare works hard on those all year long, but one page stories would have been more satisfying. Beautiful artbook! I enjoyed the idea of classic fairytales being reimagined featuring Shadowhunters! I kind of wish the text had been a bit longer, though. The paper is nice and the illustrations look awesome (as always, Cassandra Jean's artwork is wonderful). But for the price of this book, I thought it would have a few more pages. Beautiful artbook! i enjoyed this a lot, the art is gorgeous and it was nice seeing the characters again. i do wish it was longer and that we got more of the stories instead of just sentence-long classic/fairytale prompts, especially for the price we paid for it. i also think that here were some important characters missing

Beautiful Book. I originally had this as paperback extra from something or another. Hardcover Edition does have 3 more illustrations but it's still the same wonky size that doesn't quite fit on my Shadowhunters Forever Shelf. Beautiful Book. A very quick, cute, and fun read. It is more of an artbook with a 1 word fairytale summary caption per page, which creates a feeling of a children's illustrated picture book! Cassandra Jean did an amazing job with the illustrations! A very quick, cute, and fun read. The illustrations is amazing also I love how she do a classics reimagined in the world of Shadowhunters, it's pretty interesting. If you are super sensitive for spoilers and still not reading yet TMI, TID or TDA this might be a little bit spoiler because of the couple's in this illustrations 😁 The illustrations is amazing also I love how she do a classics reimagined in the world of Shadowhunters, it's pretty interesting. This was not quite what I was expecting, I was expecting more than just a sentence or two per fairytale, although that might just be down to me not reading the description properly. I did really love the art though, and the little blurb for each fairytale worked well. Overall I really enjoyed it

Very pretty illustrations and interesting intros to the stories, but I was hoping for more actual retellings.

This was so cute!!!! Loved the reimagined fairytales, I hoped that they would be a bit longer but still loved it <3

I loved this! Even though it was short I loved what fairy tales each ship was based off of. And the art work was beautiful! Happy to have this in my Shadowhunter collection 😍

Such a cute spin on the fairytales!! I loved the reversal of characters as well. Such a precious book.

This was fun but calling it more than a picture book is generous. Each "reimagined tale" is just a sentence, max two. This was fun but calling it more than a picture book is generous. Each "reimagined tale" is just a sentence, max two.
