And this time, they’re packing up and hitting the road to track down their vile foe Thrull, who plans to construct his catastrophic Tower, a portal that will have the power to summon the big, bad, baddie himself, Rezzoch, the Ancient Destructor of Worlds. This won’t be an easy ride for the kids, as they travel through the Monster-Apocalypse wasteland they'll come across strange sightings, new creatures, and old foes. They'll squeeze in some time for fun pitstops and roadside attractions, but Thrull's terrible army of skeleton soldiers will be on their trail every turn of the way. No matter what, these kids will stop at nothing to reach their destination and stop the world from ending permanently. Review: The Skeleton Road was a tremendous and spectacular follow-up to the Midnight Blade (Book 5) and June's Wild Flight (solo episode). It's packed with action, humor, heart, and an epic road-trip filled with bone-clattering and vine-twisting villains. Seeing the Last Kids set out and explore outside of Wakefield was such an amazing experience to read about and I think it took every creative opportunity it could to make it great. The illustrations are like eye-candy, you just want to stare and admire them as much as possible. I could go on and on praising this book, they're so many things that I love and appreciate. I would love to write a book as good as this. This series is shaping up to getting better and better by every new installment. I cannot wait to see what comes next, I highly recommend reading this book and the rest of the series. It doesn't get enough of the praise that it deserves.

The latest LKOE is here and I loved it! 💀 Max Brallier is back with the newest installment from the Last Kids on Earth franchise and this time Jack and his friends take on the skeleton crew, Blargus & other new monsters. I always love the adventure, friendships and hope the kids have trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world on their own. Can’t wait for the next one! Watch the series on Netflix! Newest addition to the Last Kids on Earth series! This time, Jack, Quint, June, and Dirk are on the road trip of their lives, determined to track down and stop the evil Thrull. The team finally have a lead that might take them to Thrull's Tower (a portal to bring Rezzoch, Destroyer of Worlds, to Earth). But, of course, a road trip in this series combines new monsters and constant danger with a ton of snacks, lots of humor, and many, many kitschy roadside attractions. This is the sixth book in THE LAST KIDS IN EARTH series. My nephew and I have read them all this summer and we eagerly awaited this book. If you have kept up with the series then you know Dirk, Quint, June and Jack are attempting to save Earth from a monster apocalypse. With the help of some displeased monsters they might have a chance at beating Rezzoch. Spoiler Alert: 😱The next book doesn’t come out until Fall 2021 and this one literally left you hanging!

It's not going particularly well, especially since the skeletons seem to be impervious to wounds, popping back up with the aid of weird vines. This doesn't stop the group from traveling around slashing things, riding in BoomKarts, and interacting with a range of post apocalyptic creatures. Can they save the world? Probably not in this book, since there is a Netflix series, and demand for this paper-over-board volumes will be high. I'm always saying that middle grade literature needs less soul searching, fewer dead parents, and more action and humor, so I feel bad that I don't much care for this series. My students really like it, especially since it is highly illustrated, but even as a twelve year old, this type of book wasn't my style (my jam being Ellen Conford, Paula Danziger, and lots of historical fiction). On the bright side, to avoid reading this, I did scrub some serious tea stains out of a couple of mugs, and if we ever get back to school, my students will be glad to see this title.
