My Review is for Tales of Dunes and Dragons by Juliet Vane As with most all of the villages in the desert kingdom water is scarce. Everyone has taken to only using it with absolutely necessary and mostly for drinking only. After a group of travelers enter Inez’s village they are told a story about where and how to find water. Inez and Orion are sent on a quest to find water for the kingdom. On their journey they are faced with betrayal, deception, Windhaunts, dragons, new friends, enemies. Inez and Orion are sent on a quest to find water for the kingdom. On their journey they are faced with betrayal, deception, Windhaunts, dragons, new friends, enemies. Inez and Orion find themselves in battles that they never saw coming. With each leg of their journey the action ramps up and up as they make their way to reaching their quest and accomplishing it, hopefully. They meet a new friend along the way that puts a wonderfully awesome twist to the story that just touched my heart with happiness. But there are parts of the story the also breaks my heart and leaves me with a no, no, no, why, why, why kind of feeling. Inez and Orion are such great characters, characters that you would want to be friends with. Juliet Vane is such a great storyteller that I could just see Inez and Orion’s story playing out in my head as I listened to Juliet tell it. I could just see Inez and Orion riding along in their sled with the wolves pulling it as the dust swirled up around them almost covering them to a point where you could barely see them and their sled. I could see them fighting the Windhaunts as they were twirling around with their swords slicing and dicing. I love this world and the stories that the storyteller Juliet tells in the Luminous Lands stories. I can’t wait to hear more from these two and from this world in future book. I highly recommend Tales of Dunes and Dragons to all fans of dragons; heart felt stories and wonderful characters.

What a superb work of fiction! The only story I have read in this collection is Tales of Dunes and Dragons, of which I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. These are not just characters upon a page, but truly living, breathing souls. As with all the stories from the Luminous Lands, Tales of Dunes and Dragons is a fine stand alone work, complete by itself. But the greater joy comes when you do read all the stories and see how they wind together to create a world of such depth and clarity as to almost defy description. These tales would make such a fantastic graphic novel, or even a role playing game. Ah, the Windhaunts. One of the most original horror concepts in such a long time… Highly recommended, rewarding reading!

Below is an amazing sample of what you will find in this anthology! *** Reviewing “BELIEVE” by Shereen Vedam *** Princess Samara sat up in bed with a start, feeling a strong sense of foreboding. Yet nothing seemed to be wrong. Her father was the King of Bernada, a land of sorcerers, fortified with spells, so this should be a safe place. At dawn, 3 witches came to speak with the king and tell him of an unexpected prophecy that, on his death, a boy from the mortal Kingdom of Glinnia will rule in his place. When he told Samara, she was not pleased. The boy’s name was Jack, 8 years old, and the son of a knight named Sir Ivan. Jack would need to be taught their ways so he can govern the land of sorcerers. They argued for days about this. Then her father sent Samara to go and bring the boy back to the castle. Her dreams of being Sorceress Queen of Bernada would amount to nothing. Angry and hurt, she went to the tomb of her mother. The statue of the queen opened her hand and her royal scepter floated to Samara, turned into steel, and shrunk down to fit in her palm. The dragon head across her mother’s feet spoke to her saying, “A gift for the boy.” With a broken heart, she quietly left the tomb. Samara refused the carriage and began the 3-day walk to Glinnia, despite her father’s urging to be reasonable. When she arrived, there was a tournament going on between Sir Hugh and Sir Ivan, the father of Jack. The fight was stopped when a rider said a rogue grey dragon had attacked and destroyed a village close by. But before they went to hunt the dragon, they had to resolve the issue with Jack who didn’t want to go with Samara. Her father had also requested a knight go with her to protect Jack and she was angry when Sir Hugh was assigned. He also didn’t want to go, preferring to hunt the dragon! When they entered the carriage to leave for Bernada, four females came up to give a tearful goodbye to the flirtatious Sir Hugh. They stopped at an inn for the night, but Samara went for a walk in the woods. She was still angry and not wanting to hear her people cheer for the boy who would be their king one day. What would HER role be? What use would anyone have for her then? Suddenly the insects and animals went deadly silent! Something watched her in the darkness! And her senses told her it was very close and furiously angry! She began to run to the inn! Would she make it in time? What was threatening her so strongly that the powerful sorceress was terrified? This was an excellent story in the collection. The author’s portrayal of each character was really perfect, bringing out all of the reader’s emotions as well. As the suspense increases, the reader can’t get through the pages fast enough, trying to find out what is hunting Samara. Grab your copy and enjoy this story, along with the many others that are included. You won’t want to miss any of these stories!

I LOVE anthologies. This is a great way to explore new authors and enjoy new adventures with favorite authors - a win-win situation. Right now we are all looking for good escape literature, this would be a fine place to start. I have read a few of these authors before and they never disappoint. Margo Bond Collins, C.A. King, and Sheri-Lynn Marean to name just a few! How can you go wrong with an amazing collection of Dragons and Mages for only $ .99? Free in Kindle Unlimited. Grab your copy NOW! I LOVE anthologies. Previously I read Sheri-Lynn Mareeans short story, Dragonsworn Guardian, and loved it: Daimon is a young Dragonkind, guardians and protectors of their world. He sees a large red-skinned demon abducting two Ilyium children he must intervene. His giant black as midnight dragon exploded through the portal thinking to save the children from the Irod Demons. The Portal explodes leaving him trapped on their world, Kalesia. He grabs the children and they barely escape. He had rescued the most powerful witch children of the Ilyuim, Caro and her brother Elan. They need to learn about this new world and adapt fast if they want to live. There are many beautiful dangers. Mutant butterflies that shoot green goop that destroys plants. Strange eight-legged humped beast that provide transport. The demons are slowly losing a battle to the mutant butterflies. The Butterflies are destroying their food sources. Demons have been kidnapping Ilyium witch children to help them survive. This is a very fast-paced book. You will be on the edge of your seat. Will they ever be able to return to their world and families, or will they learn to integrate with the Irod Demons? Who/what is the voice that is talking to Daimon in his mind? What is a Celtylight? I really enjoyed this book, and I can’t wait until the next one to find out more. If you have read any of the Dracones or 52 Realm books you are in for a treat. If you have not, you will still enjoy this book and then you can explore all the rest.

Now here’s the thing, for 99¢ to get a collection of 17 novels is a pretty darn good bargain, especially when I know four of the authors (Sheri-Lynn Marean, Margo Bond Collins, Laura Greenwood and Nicole Zoltack) are superb as I’ve read most (maybe all) of their other publications and uniformly enjoyed them. Easy call for for me, especially as I’ve got KU so it’s no extra charge for me to get the set. Now, as for this review for others, well I’ve an added guarantee. See I’ve already read Dragonsworn Guardian by Sheri-Lynn Marean as it was briefly available previously. I even posted a review on it and in my view that story alone is worth the 99¢ charge, which means the other 16 stories (including new-to-me contributions by those other three fave authors) is pretty darn delicious sugar on top. Definitely a bargain that I’d highly recommend. Oh yes, just for completeness, here’s a copy of my previously posted review of Sheri-Lynn Marean’s Dragonsworn Guardian: “Magic, twin witches, a dragon-shifter guardian, action, a nice “side” of romance, and adventure. A smorgasbord of delight that works perfectly. Such is Sheri-Lynn Marean’s Dragonsworn Guardian (Dracones & Dragonkind). Just the perfect dragon shifter- witch paranormal fantasy that is promised. Totally fun and totally recommended.” As I said, totally recommended indeed.

It has everything needed to make it a fun and engaging read whether or not you have read the Quarter Witch Chronicles. The characters are wonderful and interesting and they evolve over the course of the story. There is a really good storyline that captures your attention right from the beginning and holds it until the very end. There is plenty of adventure as we are guided through portals connecting the mortal realm to the realm in which our main characters reside and there is even a brief glimpse into the dragon realm. I am hopeful that the author might consider penning some further adventures for these wonderful characters. For me, this was a much enjoyed diversionary read that I think will be appreciated by anyone open to a clean romantic fantasy. Given the list of awesome authors contributing to this anthology, I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories. I was provided an advance copy of this story by the author but chose to purchase the Anthology and I am offering my honest and unbiased review.

This looks to be a great collection, but I only read the stories by Joynell Schultz and Shereen Vedam. Shereen’s story “Believe” really highlights the differences between expectations based on plans and expectations based on reality. Combine those with dragon hunting, dragon succoring, conflict between men and women and the differences between magic users and swordsmen and you have a courtship that looks a lot like combat. I received an ARC from Joynell Schultz and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Believe by Shereen Vedam is a great addition to the Dragons and Mages anthology. This magical tale is full of action, adventure and danger with a touch of romance. I really like anthologies as they allow you to try out new authors and get fun stories from authors I read. And this one has a great theme. Now I need to read the stories. So far I have read Believe by Shereen Vedam: I liked this story as it made me laugh and groan at the same time. It was a light hearted story that was both clean and fun. Samara was a great character and I loved how she ended up doing the right thing in the end. The other characters she interacts were also a blast to read about. The only story I have read in this collection is Believe. I'm not sure about the original folktale, but it is a coming of age story about a young princess finding herself, her place in the world and love. Well written if a bit wordy and angsty. It is a sweet feel good story that I would have loved growing up. A bit more jaded now I still enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This review is for "The Dragon You Know" by Joynell Schultz Evil can be found in the most innocuous places. I love that this book is focusing on Ruby's brother. It gives us a look at the world through his eyes as he copes with an illness that is quickly killing people. It becomes a race against time when it affects those he loves and he must face his own demons as he strives to end the madness before more innocent people die. A fantastic read!

Delightfully Fun Fantasy Compilation If you enjoy paranormal and fantasy stories, with and without romance, this collection may be right up your alley. It is a nearly 2,000-page book with stories from a variety of authors, some I’d heard of and read before and others who were new to me. This book offers so much that, for the price, it's hard to beat. Don't like one story? You are likely to find several others that you do. As with all of these anthologies, there is some unevenness, of course. As with all of these anthologies, there is some unevenness, of course. Not every writer or story is exceptional, but that's fine. The ones that I particularly liked included Believe by Shereen Vedam, a riff on Cinderella by Laura Greenwood, and a story by Joynell Schultz of her Quarter Witch series. I always like a good modern rewrite of a fairy tale. What's not to like about adding dragons and magic to Cinderella? I also enjoyed the one by Joynell Schultz because I was familiar with some characters; I had read her series from which it is derived. I enjoyed that series, so it was fun to read this tale. But I think the one I enjoyed the most was the one by Shereen Vedam. It just pulled me right in as I could feel the righteous indignation of the heroine, yet I could appreciate it when she acted honorably despite how she felt. And, oh yes, there is a well-nuanced and well-defined magical fantasy world that was imperiled by dragons! I love the idea of having a sorcerer’s kingdom. And I loved when our heroine put a cocky knight in his place when he insulted her. It's the last story in the book, so don't miss it! Again, if you love fantasy, dragons, mages, and sorcerers, pick up this reasonably priced anthology and settle in for a good read! Fast forward centuries later and Violet an adopted later orphaned archeology student is given the opportunity to research her heritage in a faraway land. The story is filled with intriguing characters, magic, and danger. This looks to be the beginning of a new series sure to lure the reader into Ms King’s creative worlds. Enjoy!

Great set of stories. I've only read two so far, but if the others are anything like those it is a great set. Dragonsworn Guardian is a good story full of action and suspense. The characters are well done and the story flows nicely. The world that the story is set in is rich and detailed and well enough described that it makes my feel real. The characters are similarly well written and feel real. The Dragon You Know is a great story that continues one of the author's previous books from a differe Great set of stories.
