These books are very cleverly written with contemporary stories interspersed with historical stories from the 1490s onward. Genuine historical events provide the framework to the stories, making them very believable. Both the contemporary and historical stories are peopled by well-drawn 3 dimensional characters who get involved in satisfyingly complex plots punctuated by some very exciting action passages. This box set is a great way to enjoy this series, as although they do work as stand-alone st These books are very cleverly written with contemporary stories interspersed with historical stories from the 1490s onward.
