This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here.

Btooom! is a bit derivative in concept, but this volume is easily the best of the series so far. The characterization takes a surprising (and very welcome) turn towards the unexpected as it turns out that characters we met back in the first volume are far more complex than we assumed. Even the protagonists surprise us somewhat, as it turns out that Ryota gets to be humbled in a realistic way that humanizes him deeply. Himiko, too, shows depths that we had not seen before. This is a manga that's better than hunger games. Has more realistic events and tragedies. People die and dark things come to light not for the faint hearted. Good art style and characters.
