I don't even know how to rate this trilogy... It started out quite promisingly and was very engaging, and well-enough written. I will say, however, that it desperately needed an editor. In particular, Muhlenfeld's use of similes was overdone to the absurd power. At times chuckle-worthy, definitely in line for Click and Clack's worst of writing episode. An example: "His mind felt as if it had tied its shoelaces together and couldn’t form a complete thought without falling over" or "He knocked on I don't even know how to rate this trilogy... An example: "His mind felt as if it had tied its shoelaces together and couldn’t form a complete thought without falling over" or "He knocked on the ancient front door and waited, taking a moment to appreciate the expansive Milky Way spiraling above in the pitch-black sky, as if a giant had spilled a bowl of pulverized diamond soup and not yet cleaned it up". Ok, silly, distracting, juvenile, but overlookable. The plot starts out as quite intriguing, especially when (view spoiler)[two of our protagonists are killed early on! (hide spoiler)] . Trying to figure out their world, and trying on all the possibilities - aliens? terrorists? technical malfunctions? government conspiracy? international plot? computer viruses? It's all on the table for a while, and through the first book things are intriguing. Almost like a 4-star at this point for curiosity. In the second book we learn what's going on, and some interesting questions are posed: (view spoiler)[do we trust humans or an AI that's certain that it's perfect? (hide spoiler)] What's the best choice? We get to explore some (view spoiler)[end of the world (hide spoiler)] scenarios, see how various humans interact. Ok, kept my attention, though I was starting to get a little fatigued and was hoping for some more oomph soon. Then the last book. I just don't know what happened... From simply tedious to downright just not making any sense... Repetitive, uninteresting... I'm quite honestly surprised I finished it - I just wanted to see if there was anything redeeming at the end (spoiler - there isn't). Definitely a 1-star at this point, no joke. But overall... wow, just hard to know what to do with this one. I really enjoyed the first book. Maybe just stop there; or get through the second and just let the stuff remain unresolved - you're not going to get much of a resolution anyway. One thing is clear - I definitely gained huge respect for fiction editors from reading this book...

Pretty awesome writing! Great imagination, fascinating storyline, real characters multifaceted. Great job Chris!! Your words painted pictures for my eyes as I read along. I loved James the best, Logan the least. Very entertaining and kept my attention through the entire trilogy. Kudos to you Mr. Muhlenfeld.

The plot was imaginative and I was thoroughly impressed by it. At times, the writing was a bit simplistic, but overall I did not find any parts too terrible to read. You could tell, however, that as the books progressed, the editing was not nearly as strong. Especially by the third book, there was a decent number of inconsistencies in spelling as well as a chapter that ended mid sentence. Despite all that, I would still highly recommend this series. This series is the perfect balance of sci-fi, techno-horror and dramatic thriller! The aura of suspense increasingly bumped up my anxiety, notch by excruciatingly-taut notch. This trilogy is NOT to be missed!

I found the series only somewhat entertaining, and I took absolutely nothing away. I will soon forgot I read Muhlenfeld.

Whew, I managed to read it all. It was OK. This writer certainly has a fascinating imagination. I thought the main characters were well written. The plot, I thought was interesting, (I wouldn't have even read these books if I hadn't) but there were parts of the books that I had to force myself to continue reading. In some parts of these books, I found that I wanted more explanations for some of the scenes, but at other times, I was like OK, I get it, move on already. Exciting and scary future vision! What happens if a super intelligence awakens and finds its own self, and a will of it's own. What would it do?
