This is an anthology book featuring DC heroes in horror stories. There aren't any standout stories, but as a whole it was an entertaining read. Generally, anthologies have a few clunkers, but I felt that this book was pretty solid all the way through. If you're in the mood for short horror stories with superheroes, this is a pretty good one to pick up. This is an anthology book featuring DC heroes in horror stories. Once again DC publishes a seasonal collection of thematic short stories, in this case just in time for Halloween. These collections are always hit or miss by their nature, but Cursed Comics Cavalcade has a surprisingly high ratio of stories that are pretty good. Every story features a different tone and approach to pretty much every major DC character (the only surprising absentee being Harley Quinn, who usually dominates every other similar DC collection), and the artwork throughout is absolutely fantastic. I really enjoyed Tim Seeley's Swamp Thing story which didn't wow me as much with its story as it did with Kyle Hotz's fantastic, grotesque and bizarre artwork, a perfect fit for Swampy. Other notably good story is about Superman seemingly experiencing a sleep paralysis, a great little psychological tale from Magdalene Visaggio. Bryan Hill's team-up between Black Lightning and Katana is also solid, and Dexter Soy's artwork is his best I've seen to date. Damian Wayne and Solomon Grundy had a fun team-up against Professor Pyg who kidnapped some orphan kids in a short by Dave Wielgosz. This collection again didn't feature stories from frequent contributors (and DC's two best writers right now) Tom King and Mark Russell, however it did feature the next best thing: a Zatanna story by James Tynion IV and art by Mark Buckingham! This was definitely the best story in the entire collection. Tynion is already killing it on Justice League Dark which features Zatanna, and here he also writes an excellent, heart-felt little story about her helping a young girl who is bullied by her dumbass brother have a happy Halloween. Mark Buckingham's artwork is fantastic as always, and he really managed to channel the holiday spirit with his festive designs. Overall, this is a surprisingly fun and enjoyable little collection from DC that comes just in time for the spooky season. Happy Halloween, everybody!

I always love these horror anthology collections. It's cool to see DC Heroes in horror stories that you normally wouldn't find them in. The story and art in these stories are above average for the most part. If you're a graphic novel fan looking for a cool Halloween read, this is it. I always love these horror anthology collections. I like how festive DC with these kinds of specials, but the Green Lantern story’s Art was the best part of this for me so... not really recommend tbh

Price point to quality of the stories didn't match. None of them seemed particularly spooky, except for Superman's story, and maybe Swamp Thing. Green Arrow also had a fairly good one. It was just a bit too many coded female monsters (IM SORRY IM A FEMINIST BUT IT DOES BOTHER ME) and the final one with Zantanna was... cute. The art was very good, though for what was I think this was a cool idea, just didn't land with me Price point to quality of the stories didn't match. Really wanted to like this a lot more than I did. It’s kind of a mess to be honest and there’s not much background as to what’s going on? What exactly was Green Arrow fighting? I think they tried to jam too much into this and then it ended up suffering. Some great characters in this, but not enough time spent with any of them.

A lot of the stories start off good but then feel rushed at the end. Like the writer was doing really well and was “like oh shit I need to wrap this up next page. “ Some of the stories feel complete and they’re pretty good. I enjoyed Zatanna, Robin, Etrigan and Black Lightning. The Batman story seems like a cool concept that I wish had the chance to be fully explored.

Quick read. Most stories feel like they are missing a page or two, ending too quickly. For me the standout would be the Etrigan the Demon story.

This was a decent collection of "Halloween-ish" tales. Loved seeing Swamp Thing again, in particular. This was a decent collection of "Halloween-ish" tales. Loved seeing Swamp Thing again, in particular.
