The methods by which this was accomplished were largely lost to the ages, or banned and purged from historical records by kings, pharaohs, and the like in efforts to preserve their own power and authority. Still, the echoes of these ideas and techniques persist. What would happen if a man living in modern society, a descendant of the practitioners of those arts, were to inadvertently awaken such an ability and what would be the consequences of that awakening? "The Big Men" is a paranormal thriller that explores the perceptions, manifestations, and consequences of power as wielded and coveted by men in the modern era. Well this isn’t what I had expected. Not normally my cup of tea, but I found the concept interesting. What if a person’s very essence could be extracted? What if you carved this essence? How far would you go to get it and by what means? The main character is attracted to powerful older men who lived idyllic lives, dressed well and are successful. It is not what you think. He is attracted to their essence. Acquiring this essence is equivalent to the high you get from drugs. His first victim, Mr. Well this isn’t what I had expected. Acquiring this essence is equivalent to the high you get from drugs. His first victim, Mr. Big, almost loses his life in the transaction. This is not his intention, so he contacts 911 and Mr. Big is saved. When Mr. Big recovers he wants to find the fellow who saved him. Basically this fellow not only saved his life but recharged his batteries so to speak. Mr. Big wants a few of his closest friend to be able to have this same experience, but in a controlled environment. If you want to find out what happens next buy the book. Teaser – wingtips are a sign of Big Men. I won this e-book on Goodreads.com

I didn't like this book when I started it. The narrator is weird and a bit creepy -- not likable. Luckily, this changes as the story progresses. What an interesting book this turned out to be. It contains subject material that I have not encountered before in such a manner. Who is a "big man" and what does this have to do with anything? This book follows our narrator as he discovers a hidden ability and the changes it makes to his life. Enjoyable and well written. I didn't like this book when I started it. This creative novel had an interesting concept. Alan admires “big men” and finds out when he takes their shoes off that he takes some of their power. Thank you Goodreads giveaway for the ebook.

Alan Wells is the narrator who envied the power and aura put off by strong and powerful men. He finds that he absorbs power when he removes the shoes from the man’s feet. He calls these powerful men Big Men and, for the most part, they are good men. The more power he absorbs from these men, the more he needs and the more Big Men he needs. A really confusing book! I received the book from Goodreads.
