I love you more than all the shoes in Ru Paul’s closet. My Review: Legacy of Freedom was an intriguing and engaging story that crossed several genres. Although it was listed as gay and M/M romance, that element was not the primary focus as the main story revolved around a provoking and suspense filled mystery involving a brutal crime ring, various levels of stolen merchandise, forced sex trade, and murder. In addition to the suspense, toss in amusing humor, the sweet and touching blossoming M/M romance, and a large and boisterous family full of their own unusual and unique dramas. The criminal thread was well devised, complicated, and multifaceted with far reaching tentacles and cringe-worthy characters and scenarios.

Calvert was creepy as heck and so was Jarvis and Davenport (until you find out who he really is). I felt so bad for all those guys stuck in the attic. Jeffrey was such a sweetheart and I'm happy Hunter helped him and they stayed together. Clayton is a jerk but I'm hoping Jeffrey will be able to help him work through his emotions and maybe see his kids in a future book. There's so much going on in this book I couldn't put it down I just had to know what was going to happen! I can't wait to read more about everyone!

Chaos reigns in this family as things happen around and to them. The story centers around Hunter and his desire to work with Steve in security instead of school. He also has a few secrets he's been keeping from his family that will be out in the open before the assignment is over. The reach of the grandfather and some other people causes a few kinks and there are some colorful people introduced as well as new roles with the revelations of parentage. This was an unexpected joy for me. This is the first book by Deandra Hall that I have read and wow, what a crazy and intense universe she has built. Hunter has found is real father and decides to work with one of his companies instead of jumping into law school. His first assignment is to protect Calvert, a real slimy business man, but Hunter jumps in, excited for the new challenge. He is introduced into Calvert’s crazy underworld/mafia style dealings which involves young men. Hunter is attracted to Jeffrey, one of the “boys” that Calvert uses as a companion. This launches Hunter into the middle of this mystery of what Calvert is really doing. I don’t want to give away any of the surprising twists and turns as I was on edge to know how this journey would end. Would Hunter end up in the wrong place at the wrong time? Would he be able to save Jeffrey? Would his family accept that he is gay? A well rounded suspense story with the perfect blend of romance to keep me glued to the Kindle. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed a complementary copy from the author with no obligation. I liked this book. At first, I found it a bit of a struggle to connect with the main characters and to keep track of the other characters as I hadn't read any of the other series they appeared in, but once I sorted them out a little bit, I found my enjoyment of the book rose. I am a big fan of the Love Under Construction series and love even the spin offs. I loved Hunter's character and how he has a relationship with his new father and also how all the characters interact with each other. I must confess that this is the first book I've read by Ms Hall, but after reading this one I must admit that I'm intrigued and will be reading more. While this book is about Hunter, it's also about the love, support and protectiveness of family and friends. This is my favorite type of book, it has romance, suspense and humor. this was really fast paced and kept you on your toes. I love the plot line and who in the end was the double crosser wow. I loved seeing Hunter fall for someone and also see him come into his own. You see his sense of right and wrong supersede being safe and secure. He wanted to make sure all those under Calvert got out safely and that the wrongs happening justice occurred. Hunter is a great character. Very strong and confident. He is caring and honest. I loved the fact that he didn’t want to just get something because of who he was but wanted to earn it. He wanted to become his own person and grow on his own merits. when he was given the job with Calvert you could feel the tension and nervousness. But throughout the strange ordeal you see how strong, compassionate and smart Hunter is. He manages to out fox sly foxes and fetter out the truth of what is going on. he helps those who can’t help themselves and show that it doesn’t matter your past you deserve love and to be loved. He shows this with Jeffrey. Jeffrey is a cutie. Smart and sassy. A survivor and one that has charisma. You gravitate to him and seeing him and Hunter fall for each other was precious. It is Jeffrey that Hunter shows that past doesn’t matter.Who you are is what matter. the suspense story was connected to the meeting of Hunter to Jeffrey for there are two different suspense stories going on. The one involving Hunter’s grandfather and the one with Jeffrey. You are drawn to the tale through Hunter’s determination and compassion. He wants to stop what is happening and also stop the actions of Calvert and he puts himself in danger to do it. Along the way he falls in love with such a adorable and boisterous young man named Jeffrey. Jeffrey whom Hunter risks alot for and helps him to realize he is worth it. Worth the danger and risk. He makes Jeffrey feel safe and loved. This is the journey of Hunter and Jeffrey. How Hunter breaks out from his past and resolves it, How he finds his way and finds love. How Jeffrey learns that love is possible and that he is worth the risk.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Coming in on the second book in the series, the story revolves around Hunter. For me I didn't connect much with the characters and I think this was mostly to do with the fact that I felt I had come into an already intricate storyline and was missing a few pieces. With Hunter caught in the middle and finding the man he wants forever, he has to deal with trying to stay calm while working with his dad in ways to get the men free. Although well written, there were instances I had to wonder about the MC age as he seemed so young, I got pulled out the story a few times. There is also another back story running alongside this, with other members of the family. This will obviously play out in continuing books, but it somewhat distracted me here. A nice story overall.

I was expecting a gay and MM story but was pleasantly surprised to find it was part of the story but not the main plot. The main theme was to find a way to release male hostages being used for sexual favors to complete illegal transactions while getting out out alive. I really like the book.
