The stories were very literary and well written, no doubt about that. But were they captivating and compelling? In 'Glue Traps' the narrator once hunted down mice with those kind of traps. Now he reflects upon this hunting technique. 'In Porches of my Ear' you accompany the main characters, a couple, to the cinema. They watch a movie. In a row in front of them a wife retells every action to her husband. He is blind. 'In the Best Stories' a father tells his daughter a story they both have doubts about its ending. In 'Four Legs in the Morning' Leonard imagines Oedipus and some Greek Gods. To me the four stories maybe had a shade of horror but didn't have any major impact on me. Were those stories uneasy? To be honest, not really. My favourite was the story about the 'Glue Traps'.

I can't over sell this collection! One of my favorites ever. Glue Traps - an unsettling tale about why a relationship didn't work. Totally bizarre but effective In the Porches of My Ears - I heartwarming tale about an old couple that loves the movies In the Best Stories - The best story about a father choosing a bedtime story to read to this daughter. This one will stick with me a long time. Four Legs in the Morning - Previously read in the CD book. The afterward is also a wonderful glimpse into how I can't over sell this collection! This is the stuff that Norman Prentiss is made of. Four short stories that will leave you feeling mildly uncomfortable. This is horror just on the verge; the look over your shoulder type - don't expect anything visceral here, no werewolves or vampires. Do expect to find out how a Bram Stoker winning author writes a story, and just how creepy it is. And make sure you read the Afterword after you read all the stories. That was a kick! How funny! Wonderful stories As a lover of all things scary, I am always looking for new horror anthologies and collections. This has been one of the best I've ever enjoyed. No blood and guts, just subtle fear that gives you chills. Wonderful stories As a lover of all things scary, I am always looking for new horror anthologies and collections. Not terribly horror. More often the stories are terror based. Kinda lie hanging fruit stories. The end of the book is background on the stories. Seems sone of this book contains early work by the author. I h ave given home done slack in my rating after reading those bits. Nothing you read here will keep you up at night or frighten you
