This book is a disappointment. I have played the EotW: Zombie Apocalypse game and enjoyed it. The books share character creation and game mechanics with the earlier work. I find the End of the W0rld system as a bit clunky, but the character creation system, which allows a person to play themselves is good. The problem here is that the five scenarios are not very good. I find the End of the W0rld system as a bit clunky, but the character creation system, which allows a person to play themselves is good. The problem here is that the five scenarios are not very good. There is not really a straight ahead alien invasion scenario such as Independence Day, Battle Los Angeles and others. The five scenarios are a Grey alien invasion, which would naturally be comedic rather than scary or exciting. The closest to a straight ahead invasion is the second half of that which is inspired by War of the Worlds. The remaining ones are a Reptilian invasion, an Atlantean invasion, giant ants (which are real giant ants and while an OK theme not an alien invasion theme) and invasion of the body snatchers. The way the first three are written they are inspired by conspiracy theories and would be naturally comedic. The ants one, could easily have been turned into an insectoid invasion, but is literally giant ants. The Invasion of the Body Snatchers one is well done, but does not interest me. Overall, my impression is that the writers are huge fans of Zombie movies, but for whatever reason, think that alien invasions are inherently absurd. They are also not familiar with either the movies or the vast body of literature on alien invasions. I would play this as a player, but would not run it as a DM, because I use these books as one shots and I wouldn't want to go to the effort of the extensive rewriting that I would feel that I have to do. I would avoid this and get a different role playing option.
