Eleri and Donovan are back! NightShade’s newest agents are in L.A. to bring down a burgeoning terrorist cell. To make things worse, it’s not just one terrorist cell, it’s two. Or is it three? Make that terror cells, as in more than one. They're all somehow connected to a troubled Iraq war veteran and a covert mission gone horribly wrong. Is he friend or foe? To find out, Eleri and Donovan team up with an ambitious local agent and a homeless female veteran, nicknamed Walter Reed, who makes the Terminator look like a pansy. The Nightshade agents continue to use and hone their 'unique' abilities during their investigation, but Donovan's cover is threatened when he encounters his own kind, and Eleri's powers become more frightening and uncontrollable by the hour. And the clock is ticking. Will the agents be able to stop the most deadly attack on U.S. soil since 9/11? Grab a copy and find out! Can't wait for more!

Enjoyed this second in the series - It is slight sci fi the two FBI agents are in a special section called nightshade - they have special talents. The head agent is developed more on this book. She and her partner with help from others go after ' fracture five ' in Los Angeles. I have read all of this authors books and this was did not disappoint. Different and good. Infrastructure The main characters are anomalies, initially normal human specimens, but so much more. If their differences had been part of the blurb, I would never have read these books, this is my second and I am fully hooked. Eleri, a product of old money and arcadian grisgris and Donovan, the product of a drunken, homicidal father from old superstitious beliefs are a strange match, but have a unique understanding of each others strengths & weaknesses. This time, a terrorist plot involving individual cells who are unaware of the others existence are led to believe they are righting wrongs on US soil. Going back to an arms smuggling racket, by US soldiers whilst in the Middle East. Within both the terrorist group and the FBI offshoot, which Eleri & Donovan work the infrastructure is all important. Especially when only the two principals and their boss, have the full picture and are aware of the ultimate permit only they have. Read & enjoy as I did, it's different, but oddly normal.

Intrigue, Action and the Unusual Pg 13 No sex Strong language Action violence - some disturbing, but no more than a TV episode of NCIS or Bones Special agents Eleri and Donovan, who possess unusual gifts and are therefore part of the FBI's Nightshade division, are called to LA to check out suspicions activities among homeless vets. Soon they find themselves tracking possible terrorists. Well-done character development. Plot is well developed with believable twists and the right amount of tension. ELERI & DONAVAN CAN SURE EAT, GUESS THEY MUST HAVE TO REPLACE ALL THAT THINKING ENERGY BURNS UP. I FOUND BK#2 IS NOT AS ENJOYABLE AS BK#1 IT WAS KIND OF HARD TO FOLLOW THIS STORYLINE (hummm). I TOTALLY AGREED WITH ELERI “A GOOD SERIAL KILLER”, WOULD BE NICE. I WAS HOPING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT JUST WHAT ARE THEIR CAPABILITIES, WHAT MORE CAN THEY DO (I only got a peek) ? I WISH I HAD A VISUAL NEAR THE ENDING BECAUSE IT BECAME TOOOO CONFUSING (as hell for me) TO READ. THIS NEEDED TO BE A MOVIE!! ;O

Excellent Read! I'm glad I found this author! I really enjoy reading her books! Its interesting to read the details from a case and what an Agent/Officer may go thru to get their target person! I loved how there is some paranormal mixed in with the book! Glad Donovan came out alright in the end. I am anxtious to find out what's behind the eyes. That's all I will say on that, but I do encourage people to read this book as well as the series with me! I will definitely recommend this book to others! Excellent Read! Liked it I liked this a lot. Eleri and Donovan still make a great team. I liked all the new characters, too, especially Walter Reid. Donovan and Eleri have to stop terrorists who are planning an attack on Los Angeles. They enlist some veterans to help out. Those vets prove invaluable to help solve their case. I really enjoy reading this series. I think the most entertaining part is Eleri and Donovan’s relationship. Each find themselves learn to work together, accept their differences and trust in each other. Their POV are as fun as their adventures. Plus, Eleri is still a mystery, though we now know how her power works. I never thought I would enjoy paranormal suspense but The NightShade just get me hooked!

Love this series I chose this rating because this book had the usual forensics which I love. But A.J. made the characters so different. Loved how they made their special gifts so real. I tried to pick out my favorite. I really loved Walter. Her life went on in spite of her disabilities.

This is the second book in a series. The plot is much more involved with ongoing uncertainty about who's good and who's bad. I found it dragged somewhat. It was a relief to reach the end and finally get some answers. The MCs continue to have strong appeal and there are hints of more revelations to come about one of them. Interesting fast read. I loved the first book and enjoyed this one. The pace, character development and tensions between the principals keep the book moving to a somewhat, but not excessive twist at the end. Looking forward for the next one.

I found this book 2 not as stimulating as the first. Way too many characters for me to keep up with and I got bored rather quickly. Definitely a disappointment for me considering the first in the series. Granted, opinions are highly subjective.

Terrorists cells how many are there and they are linked by Rollins with a code. Can Eliri and Donovan figure it out. A nation security is at risk, and the tension they are working on his high. Great story. Added by good narration, Given audio for my voluntary review

Kill method intriguing Great character s. Loved the female disabled vet's transformation. Was very intrigued by the terrorists initial kill method. This second in a series was just as good as the first. I have the third through the sixth on my Kindle for further reading. I just don't read this genre back to back for some reason. I will start by saying that "I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review." I realized starting a quarter of the way through the book that I had made a grievous error, I had not read the first book in this series before starting "Fracture Five." I say that, not because the book does not stand alone, because it does, Few authors can match Dean Koontz in the ability to make books in a series (Odd Thomas) also act effectively as a standalone read. AJ Scudiere is one of those few. I will start by saying that "I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review." AJ Scudiere is one of those few. I say that I made a mistake because I was enjoying the story so much, the references to the previous case made me want to read it immediately. The funny thing is, I don't normally read this kind of book, one where the characters have supernatural powers. Since I don't like to have to provide spoiler alerts, I try to stay away from the storyline as much as possible in a review. AJ does such a great job of writing that I am so caught up in story, the powers are more an aspect of the character’s persona, causing the unbelievable to become a possibility, so it never becomes a problem. You could take away the character's enhancements and it would not detract from a great police/crime story read. In an era when many authors think running their novel through Word's Spelling and Grammar Checker constitutes editing, this book is well-written and it shows the attention to detail of a good editor and proof reader. The main characters have solid back stories and are well-developed. We root for the good guys and boo the villains, though at times, we are as unsure of who some of the bad guys are as the other characters are. Taking place in present day Los Angeles, there are enough twists and turns in the plot that keep the book from being predictable and it is written in a way that the reader does not have to suspend disbelief in order to read and enjoy it.

A very intense read! The title alone is enough to make the reader think about why and where things are happening, and how these things are being constructed, and through whom. THE NIGHTSHADE FORENSIC FILES: FRACTURE FIVE: Book 2 is also very addictive. I didn't want to stop reading. This uniquely interesting book kept this reader hopping from page to page, trying to keep up with what was going down, and trying to keep up with the amazing characters that were so uniquely different. This uniquely interesting book kept this reader hopping from page to page, trying to keep up with what was going down, and trying to keep up with the amazing characters that were so uniquely different. Eleri and Donovan seemed to love, and were very thorough in their work. Donovan had a nose that could smell out things that would make a blood-hound jealous, and the tougher the case the better. Eleri always seemed to take the time to think things through, most of the time. She didn't like to jump in with both feet, yet she loved a good challenge. She also knew when to be bossy and when to back away. I love the spot-on plot with plenty of non-stop action and suspense. As our story opens, Cooper Rollins is trying to find a special way to say goodbye, especially to his son Christopher, who didn't know exactly how to let go. And, Eleri Eames, who had had her vacation cut short, was on a plane, along with Donovan Heath, landing at LAX, awaiting another assignment. Will the two of them come through this one alive? One part that stayed in my mind long after I read it was when Cooper was thinking about deaths by betrayal. Was he talking about himself, or someone else he thought of as a friend?

I found Fracture Five to be nearly impossible to put down. Right from the beginning you are drawn into the story. The pace never really lets up until the very end. I especially loved how the story kept me guessing as to the final outcome. I never knew who to trust.
