What a gem of a book this is, a one-stop shop for writers at all stages in their careers. Packed with advice and suggested exercises, this book will not only help beginners to get started, it will also enable experienced writers to refresh their inspiration and top-up their ideas banks. The exercises are flexible too, being bite-sized for writers with only minutes to spare, but adaptable to fill longer periods of time and kick-start longer pieces of writing. The exercises are flexible too, being bite-sized for writers with only minutes to spare, but adaptable to fill longer periods of time and kick-start longer pieces of writing. With sections on submissions, marketing and publicity, there really is something for everyone here. This book packs a real punch with its content but, being light to carry, can be slipped into a bag and used whenever a writer has a spare moment – on trains, in coffee shops, in workplace canteens… I love the layout too as there is enough white space to pencil notes or add post-it stickers. Even when I was simply looking through the book to see what it contained I found it was stimulating fresh ideas and I had to reach for the post-it stickers. I thoroughly recommend this book. As a wannabe writer I am impressed with this book. It is written in an unpretentious style with great tips and advice. The best praise I have is that it has encouraged me to write and I have put pen to paper.
