Though this book about a girl going on a pirate adventure would work very well for middle-schoolers, as it would surely interest them and has no blatant sex or foul language, it is also a fine read for any adult who is curious about pirates and enjoys adventure stories. I especially liked the way the character of the heroine Dawnya evolves as she matures during her journey—following the "finder stone" on the way to the Sea Druid and then on as she sets sail with her unlikely band of misfits. Her growth from the clueless and innocent niece of a very special uncle, to the strong and wise captain of the Sea Druid and leader of a tough and reliable team was really a joy to experience. What I love most about this book is the way the female protagonist so naturally develops into a force to be reckoned with, while remaining true and good and kind. Highly recommended.

It ended way too soon! I loved this story, Eric! Thanks for writing it. You just made it to my favorite author list. The characters and story were captivating. The end was too abrupt and I hate sequels, but I need to read more about these people.
