Ladies and gentlemen... Drumroll please... Stan Lee has entered the building. True, he has not written a COMIC story yet, nor will he until the 1950s. But he writes his first published work in this story, and it is just as good if not better than the comics normally in these sort of comic books. It is suspenseful, and through these text stories we are introduced to his defining trait as a writer; you could take out all instances of "he said" or "she said" and clearly discern who is talking. He has such a dense understanding of character that he can tailor make each line of dialogue for each character to such an intimately individualized degree. Now as for the comic stories themselves, they are STRONG in this issue. Here, we are introduced to a reoccurring villain. Soon the baddie of the week format will die with the Red Skull, an ongoing mirror for the character to grow with. Just as the character grows and evolves, his relationship with the also growing villain can evolve.

Captain America does it again. The collection of heroes in this comic are interesting and the style is getting more diverse. There’s still the beat up crooks and tell me all your plans element to these comics but still, happy with this one. Story about the messenger was a bit random though.

This brings back memories of a more innocent time. Might be time for a reread for nostalgia's sake. This brings back memories of a more innocent time. Might be time for a reread for nostalgia's sake.
