4 Stars. Awwwwwww, Kyoko :( Still, nice to see that both Kyoko and Ren have acknowledged their feelings to themselves, so the next step has to be announcing it to each other.

Can I just say first of all how exciting it is for Kyouko to not only have realised her feelings, but it seems finally ACCEPTED her feelings [towards Ren]? Even if she doesn't want him to know she's still accepted them herself! :D I really love how it seems that the President is determined to make her the "No. 1 [female] in showbiz" now though, after realising just how long she'd been in love with Ren, and how well she'd been able to hide it from him of all people XD I'm still a bit lost as to why Can I just say first of all how exciting it is for Kyouko to not only have realised her feelings, but it seems finally ACCEPTED her feelings [towards Ren]? But also it was a cliffhanger, so I'm gonna go read the next volume STAT.

More reviews (and no fluff) on the blog http://surrealtalvi.wordpress.com/ This was another great volume as the President confronts Mogami and forces her to recognize that all the locks have been broken off the box guarding her heart. It's also the volume that we get to see Ren as his natural blonde hair, blue eyed Kuon self - albeit as more of a Mogami fairy creature version. There some very good writing in here and Nakamura really makes the most of the moments she's created in this volume. There some very good writing in here and Nakamura really makes the most of the moments she's created in this volume. Story: The President has seen what is in Mogami's heart but promises he won't reveal her feelings to Ren. When she flies to Guam earlier than planned, she finds an unguarded Ren on the beach. She's sure he's her childhood fairy friend Kuon all grown up. And he's quite happy to continue the pretense. What will she reveal to Kuon about herself and feelings for Ren? The art is especially good right now in the series and certainly there are quite a few fangirl moments. Mogami/Ren ship has moved a bit forward now and it's great to see both able to be themselves without the pretenses. A complete reverse of the last two volumes where each was playing a character. Nakamura is going to string us along further but when translations are this good, it's such sweet pleasure. Reviewed from an advanced review copy provided by the publisher.

Is there an ending in sight? Land over that horizon? It is torture that I have been reading this one for about a decade and it is still not done. Okay, it's not quite that long, but it's getting close now. I have to say, it still holds up, even after all this time. There are lots of stories that do not. Look at me adding stuff when I am asking for it to end so I can enjoy forever. haha. I was surprised by Rory's mtg, and could see why Kyoko forgot about white day. I often do. It's not a cultural thing, it's just not often in manga, though Valentine's and Christmas is. haha. Anyway, the library is behind and needs to get 35 ASAP!

I love this series and am looking forward to seeing how Ren and Kyoko's relationship will evolve from this point on. Seeing Kyoko interact with "Corn" should be a fun new arc. I also enjoyed the little bonus story "An encounter beyond their wildest dreams" about Kyoko running into Sho while she was Setsu. His reaction when he realized it was her because of her kicking him was great. I was left on pins and needles after the last volume! But this starts off teasing me. I have to what a whole chapter to get back to "The look" Agony! I am still in shock of Kyoko's breakdown. But is was also sweet to see her act so human. The scrabble to keep Ren/Kuon away from Kyoko by Ten was so amusing. And how that plays out has me shaking my head. Ten could never handle being a manager, that's for sure. Poor woman would have a nervous breakdown! I was left on pins and needles after the last volume! But this starts off teasing me. I was super curious for Lory's reaction after the end of 33, but it didn't go where I expected and then a few panes explained off panel time passage before the truly brilliant part happened. I love how Lory presents Kyoko to herself, her life, and her growth. I've been waiting for this realization to hit for several volumes now and the pay off was worth it. Also...love Ren. Always. This series continues to be one of my absolute favorites. Yes, Ren is the tall, dark and handsome brooding tortured soul, but it is really Kyoko that gives life to this series and in this volume, she doesn’t disappoint. She tells him that she has no intention of letting Ren know how she feels, the president drops the M bomb. He asks her if Ren gets married to someone else if she will be able to be happy for him and congratulate him. She says yes even as she realizes she is lying to the president and herself. She calls herself ugly because she hopes she may never have to worry about congratulating Ren on a marriage. It would make her happy if he never got involved with anyone, but then Ren would be miserable. The president does tell her he will not tell Ren about her feelings, but he challenges her to make a decision as to whether she wants to keep repressing her feelings or to embrace them and let them grow. Kyoko has an on location shoot in Guam for Tragic Marker, but she arrives a day early unbeknownst to her talent agency. She is in the unwilling company of Ms. Muse who arrived early to get Ren ready to be Cain Heel. Kyoko wants to stop by and say hello, but Ms. Muse tells misleads her into believing Ren is not checked into the hotel. Kyoko promises to stay in her room until Ms. Muse comes to get her for dinner, but she decides to go walk on the beach since she realized no one would recognize her. What she finds may change her relationship with Ren forever. Volume 35 is due out on September 1 and I just can’t wait to find out what is going to happen next!!!

So, the director definitely knows Kyoko is in love with Ren, but is willing to not interfere. He's also gaining insight into Kyoko's mind - why she thinks loving Ren is so terrible, why she thinks she is such an evil person. To be honest, I'm still not sure how this is all supposed to come together, and where exactly Kuon/Corn fit into the equation. Obviously Kyoko was attached to him from childhood, but what effect did little Kyoko have on Kuon? It's been so long since I read those parts that I really don't remember. As it stands now, Ren seems to think Kyoko only sees him as a veteran actor to look up to, and when they meet in Guam, with him as Kuon, he seems to relish the chance to interact with her on a more personal, less formal basis. The question now is, did Kyoko really recognize Ren? She sees the similarities, but will she actually see through the "disguise" and put two and two together? So many lies, and all because everyone is too afraid to tell the truth. Where is this all going?

Kyoko has a meeting with the president and runs into Ren and Yashiro. They all wind up having a meeting with the president and he tells them that she isn’t going to be Ren’s good luck charm as Setsu. Finally! With volume 34, we are past the awful Heel Cain arc and I could not be more relieved. Instead, we take a break from acting and spend more time on how our characters are feeling. Kyoko is finally accepting that she can fall in love again, and Ren might be taking a step closer to accepting who he was in his past. All this combined together makes for a cute volume of catharsis after the mega drama of Ren's "tragic past" and trying not to let his "dark side" overtake him as he acts as Cain Finally! Kyoko finally admits to herself that she has feelings for Ren, and she knows the president knows as well. She's afraid he will tell Ren, however, that's not what happens at all. Now, she is on the edge of her seat trying to figure out what the president has in store for her. This was another great addition to the Skip Beat series! ah kyoko. my sweet method acting daughter. i have missed you so. i have also missed you hanging out with the rest of the cast and getting into hilarious method acting adventures as opposed to semi-creepy but mostly heartbreaking arcs involving entirely too many sad feelings from you. :( i am down with kyoko with falling in love but it would be nice if she could get to experience the happy parts of that particular emotion soon. 3.5 stars

This was such a hilarious series! Kyoko was such a quirky character and was always doing stuff to get into trouble. I liked the transformation of her character throughout the series and how she found out that instead of having to rely on a boy she could make it on her own. There was a love triangle that I also enjoyed very much.
