Sometimes more interesting than exciting, but that did nothing to lessen my enjoyment of the collection. I think the word 'erotic' in the title may have given me false expectations. These poems are about sex -- every strange, beautiful, passionate and awkward aspect of sex. That doesn't necessarily make them 'sexy'. I loved just how many different niches of the human sexual experience are represented here. So many fetishes -- many of them criminally under-represented in modern poetry -- so many pairings and voices and outlooks... One of my favorite poems, in fact, was "In My Gimp", which is about exactly what you think it is. Others tackled the subject of imaginary lovers, morning-wood, and sex while tandem sky-diving (oddly enough, also a favorite). I did find the poetry itself to be a little awkward from time to time, with regards to how far imagery can reasonably stretch, and quite often it seemed like word-choice made some heavy-handed sacrifices in the interest of rhyming. At its best, it reminded me of Lou Reed's earliest lyrics; cheesy and entertaining, turning somersaults in the interest of fitting the rhyme scheme. A very comprehensive, enjoyable, not-exactly-erotic collection of poems, well worth your attention.

Full disclaimer: I won this through a Goodreads giveaway. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got this. The book is nicely made, with quality paper, and a beautiful cover. Seriously, this should get extra style points, the paperback is all kinds of nice. Apparently I am not one for erotic poetry. This could be due to a lot of things. It could be because I'm in a relationship with a woman, so I have trouble relating to the poems being from the male perspective. Perhaps I'm just broken. I just couldn't get into the poems. They're nice, and there's some I liked, like the very first one. But for a number of them, there was something that just pulled me out of the poem. Maybe it was a word choice, or the meter of a line changed, but it would pull me out of the poem's mood. They're not bad poems, I guess they're just not for me.

I have followed PJ on twitter for over two years and have always looked up to him as an inspirational poet. Reading this book was everything I have come to expect from this writer. Each poem is to be enjoyed and judged individually. Every piece tells it's own story while keeping within the theme and style of the book overall. It's too hard to choose one poem which stands out above the rest, but the thing I loved most about this book is it has diary entries which tell us a lot about PJ as a person a I have followed PJ on twitter for over two years and have always looked up to him as an inspirational poet. Here is a person who feels emotion deeply, thinks about the things he feels and the effect they have on those around him. This poetry book speaks of longing, lust, passion and lost. Everything poetry should be about.

I loved the erotic poetry of PJ Bayliss. His use of figurative language (imagery, metaphor, and such) really brings meanings to his poems. Some of the poems are just erotic in nature while most are erotic loves poems. I do recommend this book to people who enjoy erotica, but remember it is poetry. I found the poems so much better when I slowed down and read them aloud. The poems, like all poetry, are meant to be heard (hence the rhythmic patterns). *I received the book for free through Goodreads I loved the erotic poetry of PJ Bayliss. Sometimes in life you come across things that leave you breathless and for me this collection of poetry is one of those things. Throughout the book PJ takes you on a journey through love, lust and pure, unadulterated eroticism. Honestly 5 ⭐️'s just aren't enough in my opinion for this collection and if I could I would give many more as this is truly fabulous. The naughty, intense imagery in this book lives up to its name. P.J. doesn't disappoint in bringing the action. My favorites include the bold and blunt 'I Give In', the subtle 'Jealous Rainbows' and 'Lost Bride', to the XXX 'Orgy' and 'Restraint'. A must read, with candles and wine, of course!
