There happened to be murder, fires, bombs, and gambling depths, and the mob, ex-girlfriend, ex-wife, and ex-business partner. You won't be disappointed, Renee did it again. I read this book in a 12 hour period, I didn't sleep much.

very enjoyable, suspense kept you waiting for the finale, it was definately a good read, although I think I prob should have read the others first but it didnt detract from the overall story. The characters are great, watch out for the twists to throw you off !!!

I love this series! This was one of my favorite books in the series so far. Willie's house is burned down and a dead body is found among the ashes. When it is discovered that the fire was a case of arson, and that Willie and the deceased weren't exactly bosom buddies, she becomes the #1 suspect in the fire and the murder. And on a positive note, Reed and Willie's relationship moved forward in a significant way. You don't have to start with the first book in the series to know who's who or what's I love this series! Solid mystery with the usual nods to the heroes and tropes of film noir. Reed gets himself into and out of all sorts of trouble, with the help of Willie, his best friend Cal, and - last but not least - the Goofball Brothers. This story probably doesn't work as well as a standalone as others in the series, there isn't much "extra" characterization, the reader is already supposed to know the cast well enough.

A fast-read of a mystery that is entertaining and light. Really loved it, except for some of the language, which I'll admit was very mild by today's standards. It's a story of Reed Ferguson, private eye, trying to rescue his girlfriend from a murder charge when her building catches fire. I did figure out who did it, but it was fun, nonetheless.

Low 3 Plot is fine but it's low on character. This is a later book in a series I've not read, so it probably relies on preexisting characterization. For me reading it on its own, I struggled to care about the characters and even ended up putting it down and reading another book in the middle.

Good fun mystery. Always guarantee a good mystery with a dose of humour from the author. Reed's girlfriend has her house burnt down and one of the tenants is found dead. Reed now has to find out who is responsible with a number of suspects available. Enjoyable way to pass a few hours.

Detective story I enjoy detective mystery genre. Easy light read with well developed main characters and good storyline. More twists to keep you guessing till reed solves the case. Not my first reed ferguson mystery and won't be my last. Do yourself a favor. Read it.

Good mystery This book has a little different twist to it . Reed Ferguson is a good investigator and gets his man, but has a few scrapes to do it. I don't really like the references to all the old movies.

Good, simple story I enjoyed the bit of romance that went along with the story. I also enjoyed the twists and turns but some of the parts of the story seemed unnecessary.
