Can't Wait is sure to put its readers in an early, holiday spirit and I have to admit I adored this novella nearly as much as I did Caleb and Summer. It was cute, sexy and humorous. This novella contained moments of heartwarming laughter, sexy moments with a cowboy and an ending that reminds us that with a little patience sometimes those that we are waiting for will come to us.  Most of the time I do not read Christmas novels because they tend to be sappy. A holiday romance that has been repeated, but Can't Wait really stood apart from other holiday reads that I have read. Ryan really allowed the romance and the chemistry to shine throughout the pages and this was such a light and breezy read that it was actually fun to be apart of Summer and Caleb's story. Summer, is my favorite character in this book. She is a woman that knows exactly what she wants and she really made the effort to make Caleb see that they belong together. Of course Caleb knew that he and Summer were a perfect match but I respect the fact that Caleb's bromance with Summer's brother stopped him from pursuing Summer at the very beginning. You have to love a cowboy who is a little old fashion because those are the best kind! If you are a reader that is looking for a merrymaking read than Can't Wait is the perfect novella!    (This review was submitted to the PUBLISHER prior to posting it on GoodReads.)

This is a novella I loved. I struggle with short books because I often feel let down. Not this time. The characters were in love to start the book but neither had admitted as much. But he's not going to date his best friends sister. Not after that best friend shared so much with him overseas. But a determined sister might have something to say about it. Summer is strong and I loved how she handled both Caleb and her brother Jack. I think I loved Jack so much because he was clueless about how his best friend and sister felt. Jack and Caleb worked together on the ranch with Summer living on the property but it never even crossed his mind that there were feeling between them. So male. The story is quick and thank goodness. I'm not sure I could take much more of Caleb's resisting before I crawled in the book and smacked him. I love him. Yes, he's stubborn but once Jack knew, Caleb as adorable. AND there's a bunch of the story after the resistance ends. I love that when a book lets us see them happy for more than a couple of pages. YAY. A great Christmas novella that I read in an evening and was so satisfied when I turned the last page.

A sweet, feel-good romance and promising start to the series! I enjoyed the writing style and loved that the characters have some depth beyond simple miscommunication. This story has characters that are back from the war in Afghanistan and are suffering from nightmares and having trouble adjusting to civilian life. Caleb is not sure how to go on with life outside of a war zone. He is sleep deprived and just feeling lost in life. Summer is his breath of fresh air, even if he refuses to acknowledge it at first. Her brother served with him and they are best friends, and Caleb doesn't want to risk the friendship even if Summer is what he needs to survive. I really loved this heart-wrenching, contemporary holiday novella. The characters are believable and well-developed. I felt myself transported to the ranch at Christmas time, wishing I could help Caleb (and Summer's brother, Jack) quit being so stubborn. Can't Wait by Jennifer Ryan is the perfect read for a snowy holiday afternoon. It is a quick but engrossing read that shows you a man who bares his soul and the woman who is strong enough to take care of him. I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. My opinion was not influenced in any way.

It was pretty self-sacrificing of Caleb say that he wouldn't go after Summer even though he has the hots for her. This is a pretty quick read that will get you in the mood of the holiday season. Yes, Caleb is fighting the urge to make Summer his for the sake of friendship. It's a pretty good read, and the ending is a little rush, but it's bound to happen in a novella. However, you have a super hot cowboy that is honorable, and a sappy ending that is just made for the holidays. So, if you are looking for that read that will get you wanting a cowboy for Christmas look no further and try Can't Wait. Copy provided by Avon via Edelweiss

It's hard for me to really enjoy novella's since the characters are usually under developed and the relationship is very unbelievable but not in this case. I really enjoyed this story and will be reading more Jennifer Ryan in the future.

I'd already read the first two books from The Hunted Series about Jack and Sam as well as several of the Montana Men series about Caleb's brothers so I was well acquainted with Summer and Caleb as supporting characters in these stories but I'd never read their story so I was excited to find this little novella. In many ways unlike Ryan's other heroines Summer is just an uncomplicated country girl. She doesn't have a horrific past leaving her with terrible emotional baggage. She's not running from any danger. She's not highly educated nor successful. At 23 she's a hair stylist who also picks up shifts at the local diner while living on the family ranch with her older, overly protective big brother Jack and his best friend Caleb. What she is, is sweet, kind, caring and generous with a natural born wisdom for understanding people's hearts that belies her tender age. Summer's dreams are simple to. She just wants to marry Caleb and have his children and grow old with him. Caleb is a good person, like her brother and his best friend Jack, a war hero struggling with PTSD. He is as desperately drawn to Summer as she is to him but he fights the attraction for fear of upsetting Jack because you just don't hit on your best friends little sister. It's in the Bro-Code. Will Caleb's attraction to Summer outweigh his loyalty to his friendship with Jack? Of course it will. This is a romance novella! But watching the sparks fly, watching Summer push Caleb to act on his feelings for her as Jack is forced to recognize the undeniable connection between his little sister and his best friend and accept that the only man worthy of his little sister is his best friend is a fun, quick read with only a modicum of drama. Enjoy!

Caleb and Summer felt the pull of love, but didn't explore it because Caleb and Summer's brother, Jack, we're the very best of friends. However love always finds a way .

Summer will have to take matters into her own hands if she wants her cowboy for Christmas. ---------------------- Heat Level: 3 - 3.5 ---------------------- Very few novellas manage to create character depth and a full and dynamic plot worthy of a 5-star rating from me, but... here we are. Summer is in love with Caleb, but Caleb has it in his mind that regardless how he feels about Summer, he cannot act upon it because she is Jack's little sister. Jack's his best friend and there's a bro-code to follow. If that's not enough, they served in Iraq together and he feels he owes his life to Jack. Even more, now he's even working for Jack on the ranch. To say Summer is off-limits is an understatement. But she's determined as all get-out to make him hers. Is it possible for a reader to fall in love with a novella's hero? Most definitely. Caleb and Jack's tormented souls each deserve a full-length novel. Great characters, written with loads of depth and dimension. The dialogue is smart and sassy by turns. The plot is very enjoyable and flows so smoothly I wanted more. The entire plot was based on the conflict, which obviously gets resolved in a wonderful way. I easily would have enjoyed this story and these characters if it would have been a full-length novel and am intrigued with the rest of the series as a result. ------------------ Score: 4.6 Stars: 5 ------------------ Tina J Reviewing for: Tangled Hearts and Boxer Briefs Blog URL: http://tangledhearts-boxerbriefs.blog... Both men served together as army rangers and have a strong brotherly bond. Summer is Jack's kid sister and a woman who knows exactly what she want from life: “The man I want is good and kind and makes me laugh when he puts his mind to it. He's strong and resilient. Although he's been through a rough couple of years, he wants the same thing I want for his future. A simple ranch life, living as husband and wife with our children, making a good life and growing old together, happy and in love.” Caleb knows he is the man Summer wants because he wants the same too. However, there is a problem. It's called Jack! When Summer wants something, she is a force to be reckoned with! Caleb, an honorable and loyal man is torn. He wants to be with Summer, the woman he sees spending the rest of his life with. But equally doesn't want to loose his friendship with Jack because you don't date your best friends sister! The path to the eventual HEA has its bumps with some surprises along the way. I read this as a standalone as it's the first work I have read by this author. It was a quick read and I finished it within a couple of hours. "Can't Wait" is part of a series, so the characters are well developed. Not being familiar with the characters before reading this story didn't impede the overall enjoyment of this book – if anything, it has whetted my appetite to follow them up more. I love the author's easy writing style, it's humorous and sexy. Equally, delicate and difficult issues are dealt with sensitively taking you to the heart of the problem, without distracting us away from the overall feel good factor. I recommend to anyone that loves a story based around the holiday season, loves hot cowboys and a heroine that wont stop until she gets what she wants! ***arc received courtesy of the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review***

She’s got the right blend of determination and hesitancy, an ability to make a reader giggle, and despite their protestations to the contrary; has both men wrapped about her little finger. Fortunately, she isn’t manipulative or aggressive with this power, but she does seem to enjoy making her brother uncomfortable. Jack is a big old growly bear – not in a bad way – more in the ‘I know better’ sense, avoiding conflict and direct challenge by being a bit overbearing and prickly. Sam was wonderful, adding a touch of sense and trying to talk people down. And Caleb – the one who has it so bad for Summer he can’t see straight. But the relationship with her brother does keep him holding her firmly in the ‘friend zone’. Until Summer almost turns herself inside out to show him what he is avoiding, or too blind to see…. A quick and short read that is full of heart and a touch of heat, this story is a wonderful Christmas romance sure to add a touch of laughter and light to your day. Caleb knows what he wants, but going after his best friend's little sister is against the rules. However, Summer doesn't care about his misplaced sense of loyalty, and she's not about to let Caleb's friendship with her brother get in the way of the relationship she wants. The Verdict: Novellas are tough for me because they often either feel rushed or I'm left wondering where the rest of the story is. However, this was one of the few I could really get into and enjoy. In having the characters already in love but unwilling to admit it, the foundation for their relationship had already been well established, and this novella simply let us in on their finally giving into their feelings. Caleb is dealing with the usual issue of having fallen in love with his best friend's little sister, but he's also got some leftover baggage from war, and he's not handling it well at all. Summer, however, isn't going to let her life be decided by her big brother, and she's strong enough to stand up to Caleb's stubborn side. The story is quick, of course, but lots of fun as Caleb tries to deal with Summer living on the ranch with him as his best friend remains completely clueless about their feelings for each other. There's plenty of awkwardness, banter, a headstrong heroine, and ultimately steamy moments to keep us entertained, and despite it's short length, it's a great little holiday story.

You can't help but feel bad for both Caleb and Summer because it's pretty clear that they're more than in like with each other. I did feel worse for Summer than Caleb because it's heartbreaking to know that the man you're in love with doesn't want to take the risk required to be with you. Had either of them broached the idea of becoming a couple with Jack, then maybe they would have been spared all that wasted time and wistfulness. This was a short but sweet read and a pretty good series starter. Can't Wait gets four stars. ♥
