Very Touching, Very Honest A sincere compilation of intense and intimate poetry that gently stirs the heart, frees the soul and delights the imaginative senses. Born from the pure depths of the author’s heart, every word carries a promise of hope and humour, love and dreams that may be seen as a reflection of our own cherished beingness. By its nature, poetry is often very intimate. The author has grouped her poetry into classifications in this gem of a small volume of 48 pages. The first grouping contains poetry of a personal nature, sensual and feminine. Another section reveals the genuine affection the author has to her cities of the heart, Rio de Janeiro and Houston. A third pays tribute to two public figures. The last is a collection of reflections on "the dark." Interspersed among the poems are beautiful photographs that I wish I could see enlarged. I bought the e-book version. It looks fine, but I suspect that this collection rests best in paper on a desk where the reader can retrieve it from time to time to escape the distractions of a frenetic world. I like the book's title very much. It goes well with Andrea Barbosa's novel, Massive Black Hole.

I am not usually a poetry reader, but I loved this. There is such a diverse range of topics from love, loss and seduction to geography and people. However, it seems to be written with such ease. The words seem to flow effortlessly. They had such a calming effect after reading. If you are a poetry lover…this is a must read.

Holes in Space - what an intriguing title. I've heard of black holes and have recently read that if you go in one you will get spagettified. Well, if you read this your thoughts might be spagettified - in a good way :) You might think about things you never thought about before, or notice things you never noticed before, or realise the importance of simply taking the time to just be. The poems are divided into collections, the first one being The Emotional Collection. What I noticed about this co Holes in Space - what an intriguing title. What I noticed about this collection was the repetition of the word ''kisses'' which gives the poems an intimate and tactile feel. My favourite poems were - Poeme (p3), Fly Away (P8), Tick-Tock Time (p27) and Babel Revisited (p32). This poems are well expressed and insightful and I recommend this book.

As a poet myself I am always looking for good quality poetry books and this is most definitely one of them. The author Andrea Barbosa does a wonderful job in writing these delightfully fun and at times serious poems. The collection of poems are separated in a couple categories and their are even pictures to go with some of them. The powerful words and rhymes really gave the poems life and they either were about the authors own feelings or described something in a great light. Some of my favorites were "Deep Blue Green", "Houston", "Rio de Janeiro", "Bayou City", "Game of Fire", "Babel Revisited" and the title of the book poem "Holes in Space". I enjoyed these the most because to me they stood out with their powerful meanings, strong use of words and they made really great poems. If you like poetry then this is a must-read book for you. It's a quick read and it's so quick and so good that I read it twice in one sitting. It's got love, loss, dedications and poems about mythical and spiritual things as well. I definitely recommend this book to people who enjoy poetry and people who are looking to take a chance on poetry because I bet even if you don't care for poetry that you'll enjoy this book. 5 stars and I will be looking to read more from the author Andrea Barbosa.

I'm not really a poetry reader, but I enjoyed "Holes In Space." My best poem was "Chocolate," and it's not just because I'm a chocolate lover, it was actually well written. I also liked the message in "Life Dream," about *living your dream while you still live.* Good work to the author. I would like to say that I rarely read poetry, not because I don't enjoy it but due to the fact I rarely have time. I've been sitting on my couch, curled up trying to finish my daily word count for NaNoWriMo. I couldn't focus so I grabbed a book from my 'to read' shelf; Sitting on top was Andrea Barbosa's 'Holes in Space' that I had won in a recent event. Lullaby really stuck out at me; I would assume it's because it would go along perfect with the scene I am currently writing. I read it over a few times, beautiful each time. Shattered Glass had a lot of emotion tied to it. I've been at a point where I felt like that; Shattered Glass was very expressive of those feelings. Marathon Man was a favorite not only due to the dedication but also because I'm a runner and was drawn to it. Finally, the title poem Holes in Space was excellent; There is no mystery as to why she titled the book after it. Andrea Barbosa has put together a fantastic collection, and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys poetry.

I think he word choice was strong, and really showed me she took time in crafting each detail of the poems, as with short writings like that you really are made in the details. She also tells some stories with the poems, and incorporates modern with history, and weaves them together. This is a strong collection, and I would recommend it to any poetry lover, because I think you’ll find something to enjoy within these pages. *I was given a copy for an honest review

There are a number of sequences of poems in this accomplished collection. The first sequence celebrates love and passion, with lyrical poems full of sentiment and emotion, such as SEDUCTION ('The power of your touch/melts my body, my love, my senses') and CHOCOLATE, highlighting 'the release of my ultimate scream'. Exquisite Another reviewer used the term, lyrical, to describe Holes in Space is a collection of poems by author Andrea Barbosa; I could not agree more. This is poetry that’s a joy to read and easy to understand. Expect to feel emotions as you read Holes in Space for the words will touch you. Marathon man especially touched my heart. It was a story I’d not known, and Andrea Barbosa conveyed it eloquently.

I envy those who can craft their thoughts into lyrical lines that have such a profound effect on life. Andrea Barbosa is one of those crafters. Within the pages of this short collection, you will even find beautiful photographs accompanying each poem. I enjoyed the book immensely and also have the paperback version. I've put in on the nightstand in one of my spare bedrooms for guests to enjoy. My favorite poem in this collection is Life Dream....it's a beauty! Although I normally do not read poems, I thought this collection of poems was very good. There was emotion and you could feel the author put a lot of emotion in a few of them. I thought the pictures that went with some of the poems was a nice change. It helped create the moment and I had a better understanding of what the poem was about. The poems were very light and I would recommend reading this, especially if you enjoy great poems.

I'm not one for poetry but I thought I would try it out. It was deep and dark in a way. I would read it like you would read poetry and sometimes the lines wouldn't flow with each other. Some of the poems I did enjoy though. The title only seemed to go with the poem that was called Holes in Space, it didn't really seem to go with the rest of the poems though. A quick read of poems on romantic love and other serious topics. The style is one of sparse short lines, yet Barbosa still finds room, or holes in space, for clever turns of phrase.
