This is another great book in this series. This one by Mina Carter is just spectacular well thought out. Hattie has lost her one true love Billy to the war. The night before Billy gives Rick the one letter every solider never wants to have delivered. If your reading this the one that rips the whole in every heart when read by loved ones! What a lovely story... I already love Mina's work but this is the first time that I read something of hers that was more contemporary than paranormal. This story was a short bittersweet read about love and loss and despite the odds... still finding that HEA. So, if you haven't picked up one of Mina's other books yet, this one would be a great way to start. What a lovely story... 4.5 Stars I have a thing for soldiers. For some reason they tug at my heart strings, and so that was the sole reason for starting this quick read. I really enjoyed it. I'm not someone who usually goes for short reads, mainly because I love detail and getting into the characters heads, but this was one of those short reads that was done just right. I think you need a special talent to be able to write a short story in the way this was written. Just right. And that ending... well, I'll just say it 4.5 Stars I have a thing for soldiers. This is my first Mina Carter, but I'll defiantly be looking into her other stuff after this.

I think this book has the right recipe for a good romance book. The only problem problem : it's too short. So many potentials went unexplored. But, even with the page limitations, I think the author did a great job to give the readers lot of feels. I think this book has the right recipe for a good romance book. It's rare for me to give 5 stars to such a short story but it gave me the 'feels'. It was short and sweet and packed a punch...straight to the heart. I was teary by the end, happy tears. This was a very short yet sweet read. There's insta-love between Hattie and Rick, but their quick romance had enough sweetness and steam to carry off the length. Nice comfort read. Soldier's Angel was a short read and yet one that I had a hard time starting. Just knowing where it was going and how delayed the letter was going to take stopped me. Once I started the read, I was vaulted into the emotions. Rick and Hattie are experiencing all of the emotions from grief, loss, sadness, loneliness, then they find their chemistry and passion, the full gamut is here. This is life…grab the tissues and hang on. Soldier's Angel was a short read and yet one that I had a hard time starting. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Sometimes when you make plans in life, fate decides to change them. The Letter by Mina Carter is a short but bittersweet look at one woman and one man’s journey toward a different life than the one they expected. Sergeant Rick Week’s military career ended when he was wounded one time too many. In addition to his physical wounds, he was suffering emotionally from a strong case of survivor’s guilt. He blamed himself for Billy’s death so he was determined to fulfill Billy’s last wish and deliver a letter to Billy’s fiancée. Hattie Jameson was just trying to move on after the death of her fiancé. She just wasn’t prepared for her reaction to the handsome Scottish soldier who delivered Billy’s goodbye letter. With a little help from an angel, Hattie and Rick may just realize that they are meant to be. Because The Letter is a novella, Ms. Carter hits you with the emotions from the very first page and doesn’t let the reader go until the book reaches its expected happy ending. If you know about military tradition, then you know about the letter that a soldier writes to his or her loved one, just in case. Once I realized that this was what Rick was delivering, my heart became involved and I couldn’t stop reading until I finished the book. The characters are what kept me interested. Rick and Hattie are wounded souls who find healing with each other. I found their relationship to be so authentic and believable and couldn’t wait for them to fall in love. Even the flashbacks to Billy and Rick were touching and caused me to shed a tear or two. This is the first book by Mina Carter that I have read and I was impressed enough to go back for more. I can’t believe how much I grew to care about characters in such a short read. I can only imagine what she can do with a full length novel.

The Letter is a novella gem! Sergeant Rick Week seeks out Hattie Jameson with a very heavy heart. He has to deliver a letter… “Every solder wrote that letter. These are two people who have experienced something so tragic, with Billy, Hattie’s fiancé and Rick’s friend, as the common bond between the two. Rick and Hattie meet at a time in both their lives where the possibility of love is good. Time has passed, the pain has healed a bit and now they deserve to be with someone special. The emotions were described so realistically, my gosh! The stuff that went down with Rick and Billy put my heart through the wringer. Mina Carter also made me believe in Rick and Hattie’s romance that I cried happy tears! This story touched my heart in every way. Did I mention that Rick is Scottish? Oh, yes, he is! He’s traveled a long way from home. I also loved how this story relates to the calendar mentioned in the series. “Are ye sure about this, lass? Once I put you down,” color branded his cheeks, “I’ll no’ be able to stop.” Set around the Fourth of July in the US, The Letter is a perfect fast-paced, romantic, steamy read for the summer, or any time of year, really! If you’re a fan of romance novellas with military heroes, then you absolutely need to meet Sergeant Rick Week…Mr. July! Loved, loved, loved!!!

The Letter is the seventh book in the multi-author Calendar Men series. Each book is a standalone, but they're linked by the central theme of a charity calendar. A spark they both try desperately to ignore out of respect for Billy. But will it win out, especially when it turns out that even from beyond the grave, Billy has a plan for them both? This was another great read in the Calendar Men series. I love how they're all so different, but have this link running throughout. I enjoy Mina's writing, too, and would definitely recommend this sweet, heart-wrenching yet sexy story to fans of erotic romance.

Great change of pace. I usually read all Ms Carters PNR/SciFi Romances but I really liked the look of this one. I loved the concept of Rick and Hattie being guided together from beyond. I really enjoyed this story! It deals with the topic very well and was really engaging for me. I loved the characters from the beginning. They are both struggling with what happened and working on moving forward. I loved the little twist within this story as well. This is a short, quick read that just made me feel good. The sex is fairly explicit and blends well with the story. I absolutely enjoyed it! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

The Letter... This is a re-release of a story titled "The Letter" which was actually one of the first stories I read by Ms. Carter. This is a very short, very sweet story. Now, focus on the short and sweet. It means the romance happens rather sooner than I'd want it to, which gives it an 'already?' feeling. But it's still sort of sweet and nice. There'd not much plot, it's just a nice, relaxing story, which is cool. It's good to read one of those every now and then. A very touching short story about a Scottish soldier taking the final letter of a soldier that died in his arms to his widow. An instant attraction is sparked but they both feel a little guilty "cheating" on the dead soldier and it takes a little while for both of them to let their guard down. The Right Angel What a wonderful surprise this book turned out to be. For such a short story it was powerful in the telling. If you have ever had someone you love not return after their service this book nailed the emotional cost. Hattie and Rick make this story real. The emotions the story pulled from me make me write this review. The book was too good not to praise it.
