It talks about him when he was a kid, in high school, college, and the NBA. This book talks about all of Durant’s accomplishments in his life, and what has been going throughout his career as a NBA player. Durant is a very good player who currently plays for the OKC Thunder, and also has played for the USA Olympic basketball team. His all-time high for points in one game is 50, and he averages around 30 points per game. When he was a kid and teenager he was extremely tall. That was a big advantage for him when he played basketball with others his age because he basically towered over them. That was a big reason for why he scored a lot and had so many rebounds per game. He flew through his high school career scoring many points and helping his team tremendously, and was a big target for many colleges. During his college career playing for Texas, he averaged 20 points per game, and did really well. He was drafted 2nd by the Seattle SuperSonics, and in 2007 he was traded to the OKC Thunder. “He averaged a career high 30.8 points per game throughout the playoffs.” (Belcourt 86%) Durant is a very good player and that sentence shows that he is a good player, and one of the top players of the league. I think Belmont and Belcourt did a good job on writing this biography. They clearly stated all of Durant’s life with basketball until 2014, and they did good on describing all of what happened in his life. They detailed everything from all of his stats per season in the NBA to his high school basketball career. “He recorded thirteen double- doubles on the season.” (Belcourt 78%) It shows all of his stats and personal achievements in the book, and most of the things in his life. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes basketball, or Kevin Durant. I give this book a 5 out of 5. It includes all of Durant’s stats and all time achievements, and a lot of things that have happened throughout his life. It was somewhat not too interesting when it was listing off all of his stats for the seasons, but I still liked the book.

The 2008 rookie of the year became the youngest player to win the scoring title and has one the scoring title multiple times in a row. This biography is about Durant’s upbringing, high school, college, and NBA careers. In this book it has all of his statistics. “His final averages as a rookie 20.3 points and 4.4 rebounds.” (Belmont & Belcourt 40) This book was very good and it was very motivational. The motivation was, even though he was not ranked super high coming out of high school, he dominated in college and then was picked number two in the draft and now is one of the best in the world. It also had a good life lesson in it which was you can be really good at something if you work hard no matter how underrated you are. My favorite quote in the book was “Hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard.” (Belmont & Belcourt 14) That is my favorite quote in the book because it means that people with natural talent are good but hard will be better in the long run. I would give this book a four out of five stars because was good and went into detail about the people around him and the time he spent with them, but I wish it would have gone into more detail about him himself and his actual games. This book reminded me about the book The Rise of a Star Lebron James because Lebron and Durant are both two of the top players in the NBA and the books both had the same positives and negatives. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sports.
