I used this for teaching an intro creative writing class, and it was various enough that almost all the students found a poet they connected with; it was approachable enough to make poetry seem alive and real to them; it was cool-looking and nice to hold, which we all appreciate. I was introduced to new poets, too, and the size of the selection makes it neither too small nor too daunting. Check it out.

A nice, expansive collection of many new young poets in America. My favorites: Eduardo Corral, Yona Harvey, Dora Malech, and Jerry Williams.

I'm glad I took a poetry writing class and my teacher required this book. Before I read this collection I did not know if I was writing poetry that would, or could, ever be printed because it seems what is printed nowadays is abstract poetry- which I hate. But this anthology has shown me that there are poets out there who are still writing poetry in a way that people can understand it. And it is good poetry.
