I read this with my husband. We read most of it, but stopped after the individual chapters explaining each language. I think we got the gist of it. I get where the author is coming from and really what is important about each language, but the way he puts it is very manipulating and like you are training a dog. I really didn't like that. It's worth reading though. I read this with my husband. We read most of it, but stopped after the individual chapters explaining each language. I think we got the gist of it. It has its moments. It was written for a religious audience, which isn't me. There are also many gender stereotypes used, which annoyed me. It has its moments. It was written for a religious audience, which isn't me. There are also many gender stereotypes used, which annoyed me.

This book helps me understand human behavior a little bit more. I read the one that’s targeted towards husbands, but there really wasn’t very much content that specifically called out to husbands. I really think this was a marketing tactic to make more sells-not relevant to the review. I think you could pick up the 5 love languages in general and there might be a preface, and conclusion change. Regardless, I loved that this book helped me frame how my spouse behaves in order to feel loved that comes naturally to her. It helps me appreciate her uniqueness and personality which adds to my gratitude for having read it. I recommend with 5 ⭐️ because i think it’s extremely applicable to everyone regardless of whether you’re married, seriously dating, or single. It’s helpful to understand how people want to be emotionally supported. I don’t believe you need to pick up the men’s edition though-I think there were 3 or 4 intances where it says “men” instead of “people”. It’s addressing men but again, I would be surprised if it’s any variation of the main one.

Really a good book overall... I think this book is geared to a religious audience, and I found a lot of gender bias. Outside of the unrealistic case studies, the message itself was enough to make it worth reading.

The basic tenants of this book are very good. You will have to get past all of the religion as well as the gender stereotypes that the couples described in the book embody; the author is a christian marriage counselor who works with a certain age / type of person, so it's understandable. I found it pretty easy to ignore the outdated gender roles as well as the Christianity, and to get something really useful out of what he was describing. Overall, I found the book very useful and interesting. There was one part near the end that made me pretty uncomfortable. He advises a woman who appears to be experiencing severe emotional abuse by her husband to stay with him and try and try a love language experiment for six months. This is also the most religion-heavy part of the book. I would say you can just stop reading the book as soon as he starts this story -- it ends after that.

A well written expression of how people love. My husband and I read this together and learned somethings about each other in the process. After reading the book, we each wrote down what we felt ranked out own love languages as well as ranking for each other. Then we took the on-line assessment for our love languages and shared. We were both impressed with this book. Determine your own love language, gifts, acts of service, words of affirmation, touch, quality time. The book gives excellent examples of ways we see these in our lives and how we can implement them if we are not. It also explains what happens to people when their love language is not met. This book is excellent for couples. It can also be applied to other relationships in a person's life.

This one took me awhile for two reasons: 1. Burnt out from information overload and 2. I kinda found it a bit obvious and boring. Noe and I have been together for over a decade, we're in-tune and so I already knew her primary love language, except not in this author's description. I was looking to find an insight I didn't already know like others that had shared their experience. I guess, as I type this, my insight is that I'm on the right path in my marriage. Only read the 5 love languages first edition. The style's becoming a bit repetitive at a certain point, but it is definitely bringing out an idea every human being should (re)consider.
