"As my story came to a close I realized that I was the villian all along." I love this small book so much!!! The illustrations are on spot and the little lines said everything. It depicts mental health, depression and suicide. And all those feelings that others would not understand. Everything was so damn relatable. Freaking adorable I say! "I'm tired of being tired of being tired of being" That's one of many good stories in the book, but it's the one that struck me. I spoke in a couple other reviews about being diagnosed with depression and my shitty shitty meds and how they did nothing. That story that catches where I'm coming from. I got a second opinion, the therapist thinks I have bipolar II with mixed or "irritable states" this basically means I have bipolar minus the fun part. This story makes me dwell on that as well. I'm on different meds now, I feel more apathetic, but less suicidal, I feel tired. the story makes me live in that world two. I go to work every day and I wait for someone to yell at me, I know it's coming so I don't even stress it anymore I just sit and screw up and wait and hope maybe this time someone will help me fix it, this story is about that too. that's the point of a tiny story it is everything and nothing. It's a koan, it's a Rorschach but most importantly it tells us who we are. "We must find ourselves in fiction"

The second installment of the Tiny Stories series is simply perfect for dipping in and out of when you have a spare few minutes. This collection offers the reader a plethora of riches ranging from the deeply heartfelt musings (see Life and Death, Accident, He imagined a wonderful world and I just need some time away sketches), to the cute (heart, pillow, And when the day is done sketches), to the poignant (see fish, Gretel, I lost you, She came with a face and creature sketches). I was so charmed by the first volume of tiny stories (review), however, I was so under the radar! I didn’t even realize the second volume had been published. Just like Volume 1, I was absolutely charmed by this tiny book. The illustrations and words were just amazing. I love to see the talent of everyday people being recognized in a big way! My favorite “story” is quite short, but it sums up my life: “This is the saddest, most depressing music i’ve ever heard. It makes me so happy.” The wonderful t I was so charmed by the first volume of tiny stories (review), however, I was so under the radar! I didn’t even realize the second volume had been published. My favorite “story” is quite short, but it sums up my life: “This is the saddest, most depressing music i’ve ever heard. Whether you’re always happy or always sad, chances are there is a story to fit your mood. However, whether everyone would appreciate it is unknown. I think these books are most enjoyed by free-spirited people who love quirky things. I never thought of myself in that way before, but I am 100% smitten with these books. Also, as a book lover I am in love with the beauty of these books. They are tiny, sure, but they pack a lot of punch and they look great on the shelves! And with the holidays quickly approaching, they would be a great gift for lovers of books, art, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt ;) *This book was provided for review on Confessions of a Bookaholic. The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories Volume 2 is a fun collection of short stories. Some of the stories are quirky, which I liked. The illustrations that went with the stories were great. I almost could tell what some of the story were about by just by looking at the pictures. I did not need the words to go with them. In addition, I like the idea of how this collection of stories came about. I checked out Joseph’s website, HitRecord and it is a very cool site. Everyone should check the site out. Tiny Stories is a winner. A thing to have and hold. It commemorates exquisite ordinariness in a splendid and pleasantly simple way. When I saw this at Dasa Book Cafe in Bangkok in June, I remember feeling so giddy. I was doing my writing project (#ProjectFlashPiction #PFP7D ) while travelling, and just what kind of kismet was it that we found each other? Recommended to those who want to get into reading verse, or those who enjoy very short stories with accompanying art. (Oh yes, the art! You likely know Joseph Gordon-Levitt as an actor, be it from Third Rock from the Sun (1996-2001) or his more recent work, such as Inception (2010), The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Looper (2012). However, he is also the founder of HitRECord, the open collaborative production company which produced The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories Volume 2, a collaborative anthology of artwork and writing that could easily be described as either a (very) short story collection, or poetry, depending on which piece you are looking at. Materials contributed to HitRECord are openly accessible and available to be remixed. Gordon-Levitt and wirrow collaborated to select and edit the pieces in this anthology. For example, illustrations from one writer may be combined with the artwork contributed by another participant. All contributors are credited in the resources section at the back of the book. 62 contributors participated in this book. It would be difficult to identify a single unifying theme in this volume, but there are a few common threads. The text of the first piece reads “we must hide find ourselves in fiction,” and many of the pieces explore the importance of stories in our lives, and the idea of fiction as more than mere escapism, but rather as a method of making meaning. Many of the pieces also use wordplay and juxtaposition to toy with our expectations or shift our perspective with just a few words or a few pencil lines. For example, the text “one day she looked up and discovered an opening in her planet. She wondered if she wasn’t alone after all,” takes on a new meaning when placed next to a drawing of a fishbowl. Physically and artistically, this is a beautiful book. It is small, like the stories it contains, with a navy cloth cover and illustrated endpapers. The illustrations are largely black and white, with the occasional splash of red, but the limited palate never seems to limit the expression; you see the full run of what can be done with black, white, grey and red in these pages. Although this book is available in digital form, I highly recommend the paper copy, particularly if your device has an e-ink screen.

I finally got my hands on a copy! I still couldn't get my clutches on volume 1, but I think this will suffice and satisfy my cravings for the time being. I totally love all of what's inside, warts and all. I practically went all gung-ho while reading it. Here are some snippets: I really enjoyed reading this. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is so brilliant, I've always admired his works. One of the best and truest books I've ever read. I finally got my hands on a copy! Tiny Book of Tiny Stories Vol 2. by Various Artists 2015 Reading Challenge - A Graphic / completely Illustrated book. This book. I wanted to own it soo bad. Now I do. (I still have to get vol 1 and 3.) Anyway, this is a powerful little (tiny?) book filled with very clever 2-3 line stories and illustrations that complements them. Some story are extraordinary and beautiful. You are filled with awe in the wittiness of it all. And the illustrations just makes it even more awesome.

We’re talking one to two pages long with only a few lines of text. The novelty is that it’s tiny, can be held in a pocket and whipped out whenever you have a moment. My daughter walked off with Volume 1, but I’ve had Volume 2 on my desk for a couple of weeks now and I can’t tell you how many have stopped by to check it out. What I like about this series is that it makes art and stories accessible to all people, even non-readers. There is not one person I’ve shown this book to that did not find it interesting in some way. And the book itself is just lovely! I can’t wait to have the entire series sitting on my shelf. The book is a collaboration of different artists - "HitRecord" curates submissions from the public to come up with a careful selection that combines humor, hope and just a little darkness. It's the sort of book that I would have loved as a teenager and still enjoy now, many many years later. The book's cover says: "The universe is not made of atoms; it's made of tiny stories." There are stories of love (some sad and some happy), I prefer the sad ones and sort of wonder which ones appeal to other readers. There are some that are humorous, that make you take a look at the world around you or poke fun at language. For instance, one of my other favorites refers to loopholes. The book itself is tiny, easy to carry with you. It's beautifully done with nice thick paper. It's a good book to keep and/or to give to someone with a love of language and a sense of humor. I recommend it highly! ISBN-10: 0062121634 - Hardcover $14.99 Publisher: It Books (November 13, 2012), 128 pages. Review copy courtesy of the publisher.

Whoa! Another quick read with so much depth in each story. Honestly, I did not understand a few of the stories, but I know others would understand those that I did not and not the ones I did. This book has its funny stories as well as its dark ones so I'm sure it will be pleasing for everyone to read (hopefully). I will surely pick this book up again when my mood feels like it! This is obviously the second volume of The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories. Each page has a drawing and the page next to it has a short story (very short---a sentence usually). Some are funny, some are sad and all are worth reading. These books appeal to me for the same reason that PostSecret and the found note project does: it shows that I'm not alone in the world. It's a perfect Secret Santa or stocking stuffer present. But it's also fun for conversation starters (provided, I guess, you're with people who are comfortable enough pointing to a page and saying, "This is me") and ice-breakers. I also want to point out how gorgeous the drawings are. Many of them are simple, but they are also stunning. Although I'll admit that I have no artistic ability so it takes very little to impress me. That said, though, I do love the illustrations. :) The whole book is just magic, though, and it's hard to explain: you either get it or you don't. I hope you get it. I love this series so much and I hope there's a third volume. Ideally, it would also come out before, say, the end of 2013. Highly recommended.
