*flyz back* into the amazing world of JH Glaze in this awesome collection of off the wall “words” as thy are woven into short horror stories that are sure to leave you wanting more!!! Jeff is a genius in his story telling, leading you down paths never before traveled by you, or come to think of it traveled by any before.. You won’t be disappointed, The Horror Challenge Vol 2 is just as dynamic as Vol. 1.. Pick this one up, and be prepared for a journey jammed packed full of stories unlike any other. (well besides vol. 1 that is) I think my favorite in this volume was The Guest House, but they are all great!!!! To be able to take random off the wall words and then build a story around it can only be done by Jeff. Well that’s my opinion anyways.. The Horror Challenge series can be read by everyone (almost) it’s a great quick read that will have you shaking your head in wonderment, trying to figure out how the heck he does it. Gesh all I can say at this point is that I am truly hooked on all of Jeff’s books, and haven’t yet been disappoint one bit… Sacred as heck… yes, hiding behind the book.. yes, trying to see what’s coming next without wanting to turn the page.. Yes and all the while waiting for the next book to come out, knowing full well that it’s gonna get me again.. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, I'm not usually much for short stories, though lately I've been finding my face stuffed in a lot of them...and I've come out of them entertained and happy. So maybe I'll need to update my own ideas on short stories. I got a kick out of this book. The concept, as I understand it, is that the author asked for ideas from readers and he built on those ideas. Cool crafting. Love it. Almost like impromptu comedy, and believe it or not, many of these horror stories had humorous twists. I don't want to give anything away, and it's really easy to do when you're describing short stories. Just...check it out and see for yourself. I do have a favorite story in the book. It involves kazoos. I can't say which my least favorite was though, they were all entertaining and fun. Even my husband, who doesn't like to read much, will love this book. It's short, the chapters (stories) are quick/action-filled, and you never hit a lull-o-ennui, which can occur in full length books for people like my husband. Who can I recommend this book to? Hmmmmm...well, people who don't like to read. Seriously, they will like this. It's like watching the Twilight Zone marathon, only in words (it's even in black and white, ha!). I also recommend HC2 to everybody over about the age of ten who does like to read. HEre's an idea - if you're hopping a plane in New York and flying to Los Angeles...take this book along. You'll proably get it read before you pass Denver. There is a Horror Challenge 1 I haven't read yet. It's going on my list.

In the Horror Challenge readers and fans give the author a word or cue that then becomes a theme or a prop within a horror short story. The connections between the cues and the actual stories are entertaining to watch in themselves and the always well written 'flash stories' are covering a wide range of topics: nightmares, flesh eating monsters, a town that disappears, a broken childhood promise and deep coat pockets. Compared to the last selection this group of stories might be more fun and playful. I am not usually a great fan of short stories because I prefer to get deeper into a plot and its characters but I have not found this to be a problem in this selection. There is little that I have not said in praise of the author in my previous reviews, so I must repeat myself and state what a talented and gifted writer Glaze is. It is a pleasure to read through an author's entire catalogue of work and find consistently high levels of quality both in style and content.

It is Stephen King who changed my mind regarding the allure of short stories. He wrote that he love short stories in its time and place, the fact that you can take a book and read a story in an evening, for him was an entirely new type of magic. I was dubious but, hey, I am not that daft that I would disagree with a master. It is however Jeff Glaze who introduced me and now has me hooked on flash fiction. I read the entire book in less than an hour then started again on the first story. His ability to draw a reader into a world, at times funny, at times horrible and mostly achingly familiar is amazing. The ability to take mundane objects, write them into a flash fiction story worthy of a re-read is not something that can be attributed to many. To write these stories so that I can add a few new issues to my already mountainous list of issues is simply cruel. I give this, the second book in the Horror Challenge series an easy 6 *** *** review.

Fantastic idea and I love the original and entertaining results. WaAr

Bloody Mary, JH Glaze has done it again! I have read everything that this author has written up until this point, and let me just say; In my opinion JH Glaze is the new king of horror! I was completely impressed with this innovative and fresh concept for a horror book. The stories are unique, the characters totally believable. I really hope that there is a third installment of The Horror Challenge, I'm HOOKED!

I love horror stories, and short stories make for a wonderful read. Sadly, I've found a lot of short horror stories to be lacking in creativity and follow-through. Not this time- this series of short stories delivered. Whether it's the creativity in writing a story around dolls or one involving soap, the follow-through was amazing. I am glad I had a chance to read this, and will be looking forward to more in the future.

Again! Brilliant! Jeff takes reader input and creatively weaves stories from their ideas. You'll never read a set of stories quite like these! I loved each of these stories in their own way and can't wait to see what the author creates in the next installment :) I would recommend this to all horror lovers, and also recommend that you do not eat or drink while reading ;)

A very unusual method of writing short stories, take any theme your reader's throw at you and create a quick read that can pass time wherever the reader is. I've seen stand-up comedians do this but never an author. Short it may have been but it was an enjoyable experience. I'm off to look for volume I and keep an eye open for more.

Just like in Volume 1, he takes more words, ideas, concepts, and puts them to use to write short horror stories. He never knows what the ideas will be, he takes them off the Facebook page, and brings them to life! Quick reads for me, but LOVE them!! Thanks Mr. Glaze! 5 of 5 stars!

I loved it!! You give the author a word or clue and he writes a short story about it. Creative and entertaining. I'm going to get the first volume after reading this one...
