Pride of Baghdad is a graphic novel about a group of lions caught in the middle of the war in Iraq. The group of lions are made up of Zill, the only male, Safa who is his wife, his son Ali and Noor another female in the group and a lioness that disagrees with the very idea of going free of the Keepers. Pride of Baghdad is based off a true story, In 2003, four lions escaped their zoo when it was bombed by the US during the Iraq war. They were free to go around the city but they soon became lost, Pride of Baghdad is a graphic novel about a group of lions caught in the middle of the war in Iraq. They were free to go around the city but they soon became lost, confused, hungry and surrounded by fighting. The four lions struggled to survive on the bombed out streets during the war and ultimately become victims to fear and violence. I believe that this story had a moral, If you get out easy then you have get back in the hard and unfriendly way. I believe that this book is great for anyone who wants a short but deep read that really gets you thinking, what about the innocents in Iraq that lost their homes and starved because of the bombs the the US dropped over the cities. I would rate this book three out of five because it was well written but not really the genre that I like.
